Great photos. We have some hooters who serenade us all night long. Two or three pair of owls sit in the cottonwoods trees around our property and hoot back and fourth to each other all night long. We get hotting in full quadraphonic, surround sound. It’s amazing how much they have to say to each other.
It is true… they do have a lot to say. Many nights one will sit on our roof and hoot to another on a different roof. We love it!
You saying surround sound and quadraphonic is a “hoot!” 🙂
It’s great stuff. We don’t have TV so we sit outside and listen to the critters converse. Often times the mama porcupine will be trying to get her defiant teenagers to do something and they can raise quite a fuss. Often between the owls hooting, the coyotes will have a squeal fest, and then sometimes out of the silent darkness, neighbors peacocks with sound like banshees screaming in the dead of night.

Oh I have heard the cry of Peacocks! Their sound is deafening and they sound exactly like screaming banshees!
Coyotes howling is okay… except when they go in for the kill… then NOT SO MUCH!

These are one of my favorites! This was also my first bird of 2017. Woke me up at about 1:30 am hooting away. 🙂
Thank so much! I was very lucky! I was on a walk in my neighborhood. I heard some birds squawking and looked up. At first I thought it was a hawk. Then Lo and behold it was a Great Horned Owl! Yay for me. He loved getting his picture taken! Have a great week!

Oh Judy… I was beyond thrilled to see this Owl on my walk! A bunch of birds were squawking and there he was… trying to hide and sleep. Thank You so much for enjoying this amazing creature right along with me.
As for the tree. It’s a certain kind of Mesquite… I am pretty sure.

As for me… I was beyond excited! Seeing an Owl this close in the wild (if you call our neighborhood wild!) is fabulous!!

I have not heard of any in Edinboro… YET! However, I will be on the look out!
I did hear there are a few Bald Eagles!

Cool shots! Hawks we have but I haven’t seen any owls. Does a really really noisy robin family in the evergreen in the back yard count for anything?
