Tuesday Tidbits #45 A Trip to Florence Italy

*LATE EDITION OF TUESDAY TIDBITS!*

A trip to Florence would not be complete without seeing Michelangelo’s David! The 17 ft. marble statue was created by Michelangelo in 1501- 1504. David is sculpted from one piece of Marble… incredible! It weighs over 12,000 pounds!

Sweet Man purchased our tickets online …long before our trip. We arrived around 9:15 a.m. and had no wait.

The following picture shows how long lines can be …if tickets are not purchased before hand.

I stood in awe when seeing this incredible sculpture. How awesome!

After we left David we were off to see one of the most famous bridges of the world. The Ponte Vecchio.

Another beautiful sight!

On the bridge are amazing stores for fabulous shopping!

After a little shopping our appetite was telling us to head back to the Central Merkato.

On the way we saw more beauty around every bend!

We had the best Calamari we ever had because it was fresh and caught that day. It was made in front of us. The only thing we had with it …was a squeeze of lemon.

Then of course…

Our favorite Pasta place did not disappoint!

We loved Florence…

But really…

We loved our whole entire trip!

Thanks to ALL OF YOU who came along! It was so fun to have you!

Until Next Time ~Nancy

  1. So much fun. We loved Florence. The last time we were in Italy, we rented a car and did what the Spanish call Agriturismo — we drove all over central Italy and stayed in campgrounds and on farms. We stayed in a campground in Florence that was below Piazzale Michelangelo, so we left the car at the campsite, and walked all over Florence the four days we were there. On our drive from Ravenna to Florence, we experienced a total eclipse of the sun.

    1. Wow! What an amazing experience you both had! I’m so glad you were reminded of these wonderful memories!
Thanks for sharing them with us.

  2. Nancy, Florence is just beautiful! I remember seeing David for the first time and I was awe-struck. Beautiful photos my friend and I enjoyed each one. The Italian food…sigh!

    1. Oh the Italian food! It’s why I’m watching what I eat at the moment!

Beautiful trip! Thank you my friend for coming with us. I appreciate YOU! 🤗

(This morning I told Sweet Man… what in the World am I going to Blog about now?!?!) Lol!

  3. Seeing that magnificent statue in person must have been breathtaking Nancy! It is such a miracle that is has remained in tact for centuries and we can enjoy it today…Michelangelo was indeed one of the most amazing people of all time!
