Tuesday Tidbits #135 ~Is it Raining?

Don’t Forget the Umbrella

And you better grab the oar too. That’s right friends… we went from hot and humid… to cool, wet and rainy! The gardens are growing mold and the flowers are bent over from the heavy downpours.

Grab the tartan plaid umbrella and the oar next to it.

Welcome to Another Week of Tuesday Tidbits!

Hello and welcome in. So with all this rain and cool temps I stayed inside and cooked up a great big pot of Corn Chowder. It was delicious! I even added some browned ground Turkey.

At least it’s sunny inside!

I posted how I made the Corn Chowder on my Instagram account so I copied it from there and am sharing it with you down below. I didn’t follow a recipe… this is my version.

The chowder tasted delicious here in our kitchen.

Kayaking

It did stop raining long enough so that I could get some kayaking in. (I’m pretty sure I’m still the only one on the lake with a purple Kayak!) There’s just something about kayaking. It’s so relaxing.

Just me, my purple kayak and the Canadian Geese Parade!
The view from my kayak!
Coffee comes along for the ride.

And speaking of purple… we had our first Morning Glory Bloom this week!

It has bloomed a few more times since this one.

Summer Blooms

Summer garden bouquets are made between the raindrops…

I place the vases on the porch for easy assemblage. That bigger milk jug is from my childhood. I remember going to that dairy to get Milk!
The coneflowers and daisies are wishing for more sun!

Tacos Anyone?

Since it is Tuesday we will head down to Crossroads Dinor, a local eatery, for Taco Tuesday. (3 Tacos for $5!) We usually get the Pulled Pork Tacos. The pulled pork is smoked in house. These are as delicious as they look!

Dinner!

On the way home we may stop and get some frozen ice. Yum!

The Western United States

I am praying that some of this rain could be delivered to the Southwest and anywhere else that they may need it. It has not rained for months where we live in AZ!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope the sun shines or the rain falls where you need it. Enjoy the rest of your week friends.

  1. Your beautiful summer blooms made me smile this morning. Your corn chowder sounds delicious but it’s too hot here to make it this time of year. Happy Tuesday!

  2. Happy Tuesday Nancy, your corn chowder sounds so perfect for a cool rainy day…we’ve had an unusual rainy summer in the South, and I do wish we could send rain to the hot, drought ridden west. I love your purple kayak, and BBQ pork does make great tacos, 3 for $5 is quite a deal! It sounds like you’re loving every minute of lake life!

    1. Loving Life For Sure!
Thanks for enjoying the blog today. And let’s pray that we can deliver our rain to the west!
      Happy Tuesday my friend!

  3. Good morning Nancy. We have been in a wet and cooler than normal temps all spring and into summer. One of my dahlias fell over uprooted from drowning. We desperately need sunshine. It is like we are in a monsoon pattern with heavy rain and very high winds. Yes, I wish we could share with the western part of our country.

The corn chowder and the pulled pork tacos look so delicious. Your kitchen is happy and sunny even though the sun isn’t shining!

    Happy Tuesday my friend!

    1. I’m so sorry to hear about your Dahlia. It’s been a strange summer with the ups and downs of temps and now rain! I’m trying to get it delivered to the western states! They need it badly! 🙏🏻
Happy Day to you my lovely friend! I’ll be dodging rain drops!

  4. What a pretty table you’ve set! I’m ready to sit down at it and enjoy the delicious corn chowder or tacos. Sorry about the rain, though. We’re having it, too and it will pass. Just not soon enough! Gorgeous blooms!

  5. Those coneflowers look amazing (rain and all) and if I had a kayak, it would be purple too 💜 Here’s hoping some of that rain reaches other regions that need it.

  6. What a cute breakfast nook! Your flowers are gorgeous. We would appreciate some of that rain in NM. In the mountains where I am, it has clouded up the last few days, but disappointed us in the end.

  7. The corn chowder looks delicious! Perfect for a rainy day. I’m glad it stopped raining enough so you could kayak for a bit. It looks so relaxing and peaceful! Enjoy the rest of your week!

  8. Hi Nancy, It seems when it rains it pours! Too much here, too little there. We’re somewhere in the middle. It’s so hot and humid, I’m counting down the days until fall which typically won’t arrive for us until early October. Hope it’s dried up for you and you’re enjoying sunny skies on your lake. ♥

    1. Thank you Mary! We had a beautiful day today and we got out and enjoyed it. I hope it cools down a bit for you. Thanks so much for the visit.

  9. Oh to have that rain! Our lake life looks so fun. And now I know why you enjoy your “two trails”. Kayaking is good any time of day, well any day without lightening. Beautiful photos of the flowers.

    1. Thanks so much! Lake living is quite wonderful.
We live here in Pennsylvania during the summer. It’s my childhood home. We have fixed it up a bit but are keeping the vintage, cottage charm.
And yes… I agree… lightening and kayaking don’t go hand in hand.
Enjoy your week ahead and stop back again!
