Tuesday Tidbits #139 Lakeside Living

I know I’ve said it before… but this week went by with lightening speed! Hello Friends… thanks for joining me today.

Lake Living

There was more family fun for us this week. Which is always wonderful for us. The temperatures are hot so being close to the lake or on the lake is quite refreshing for everyone that visits.

Enjoying boat rides with sweet man as Captain…

Early morning walks by the lake help start each day off right.

Fresh Farm Markets

We still are enjoying the meals prepared from the continuous produce from the local Farm Markets.

I did make Fried Green Tomatoes. I used Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix instead of flour. It gave it a yummy southern taste. Salt your tomatoes first and let them rest a good 20 minutes so that most of the juices come out. This way the breading will stick and your tomatoes come out crispy!
The Summer sweet corn has been better then ever!

And when life gives you peaches…

A Peach Tart was made! I used A Southern Soul recipe. It was delicious!
Missing from this is the dollop of whipped cream I added!
It was delicious!

Lake Whimsy

On my walks on Lakeside… I am always looking at the cottages and their landscaping. Sometimes it’s fun to see the whimsy that people add to their yards or porches.

The face planter is just too cute!
A closer look and even more in the background.
Another one! All on the same porch!

Lake Cottages

Here are a few…

Life is Good

It’s a fabulous way to spend the summer folks… We are so very grateful. Thankful and Blessed. We enjoy adding on to “Our Summer Story!”

Take a boat ride with us…

I hope your days to come this week are filled with fun and rest and relaxation. Take care and I’ll be back here next Tuesday to chat with you again.

I have many fond memories of boat rides with friends. I always enjoy seeing the lake cottages. Wishing you a week of making lasting memories!

    1. Sweet memories that will last a lifetime.
Thanks so much for always stopping by. I enjoy your sweet comments. Happy Tuesday!

  2. Lovely lakeside photos. Cool short video. You are having a lot of fun and that’s is wonderful.

  3. Good morning, Nancy! It looks like you are having a wonderful summer at the lake. I love all of the summer fruits and vegetables we are having right now. Yesterday, I made a tomato pie and zucchini bread. Your peach tart looks delicious! Wishing you a beautiful week ahead, sweet friend!

    1. Good morning Shannon. Our summer bounty sometimes adds a few inches around the waste! We are going to pick our very first tomato so that means a tomato sandwich for lunch!
It’s been a wonderful summer… I know you are enjoying as much time with your daughter before she heads to college. Happy Summer and happy Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Good morning Teri…
Every other year they have The Tour of Lakeside. It’s a walking tour where several of the cottages open up their homes for all to tour. It’s always so fun to see how everyone decorates their home.
Glad you stopped by… hope things settle down for you dear friend.

  4. Agree, lake living is the perfect way to spend the summer. I know I’ll miss it next summer when we find ourselves spending the summer in the desert. Love all those cute cottages. I miss the cute architecture and lush gardens but never miss those winters.

    1. Good morning Ingrid… oh I agree the winter snow is just not for me. A little bit around Thanksgiving is fun but then off to the desert we go.
Many of these cottages are quite old and the original fishing cottages. And almost all of them are renovated and updated but still keeping the vintage charm. Just like we did. I think this is the first summer we did not have a big project here. So Lake Life is much more sweeter this summer.

And I know you and Al will head north a few times to find a cooler area to hang out in next summer. It can be done in AZ… as it’s only an hour or two away. You my dear friend have such an amazing adventure awaiting you.
Thank you for stopping by… it’s always so good to hear from you. Enjoy your Tuesday!

      1. Many of these cottages are Air BnB’s. And there are lots of places to eat out, enjoy some beer and rent boats. A lovely place to visit.

  5. How delightful, Nancy. Sunshine, blue skies, a boat ride, flowers, corn, AND peach tarts 🍑 All of this tells me you are having a wonderful summer. With August underway, we know our winter is all but over and summer not so far away now. Happy Tuesday to you and your sweet man.

    1. I always forget you are having winter now. But Spring is fast approaching for you.
Thanks for the love dear Clare. Enjoy the rest of your week!

      1. 🥰 I spotted some signs of life on a Crepe Myrtle yesterday, so my plants (like me) are getting ready for warmer weather. You enjoy the rest of your week too.

  6. Now THAT is what lake cottages should look like — not mega-mcMansions. It looks wonderful, Nancy — the water, the cottages, the markets. It’s so summer! And don’t you just love that?

  7. Such a wonderful way to spend the summer, enjoying the lake, sunshine, fresh produce, and beautiful walks with inspiring ideas along the way! Those face planters were very cute. I love all the green. Everything here is quite dry. Enjoy all the blessings that summer has to offer!

    1. So good to hear from you! Yes it is very green. Lots of rain helps with that.
Thank you so much for the kind comments and please stop by again! Enjoy the rest of your week.

  8. What a great idea to use Jiffy corn muffin mix for fried green tomatoes! And your peach tart looks fabulous! The planters are hilarious, and the cottages are so cute! When do you go back to AZ?

  9. Such a beautiful place to spend the summer! Your pictures show that it doesn’t matter if a place on the lake is large or small. It can be special because of the love and care that go into it. I love how peaceful your lake is–perfect place for walks.

  11. Life is definitely good at the lake, it reminds me of our summers at our lake house in Maine. I like your idea of using Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix instead of flour for your fried green tomatoes, thank you for the tip.
