Tuesday Tidbits #181 4th of July

Natural Display of 4th of July Beauty!

Hello Friends!

Welcome to a Late Edition of Tuesday Tidbits!

We enjoyed the Fireworks in town! It was an awesome community event that was well attended!
There were 20 Food Trucks!
Great display of the Red, White and Blue!

4th of July Fun at the Lake!

Even Tanya our Traffic Controller enjoyed the festivities!

Many took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent time on or near the Lake!

Fun on the shore or on the lake…
Kayaking and rafting on the outlet.
Jet Ski Time!
Fun!
More fun!
Everybody wants to have fun on the lake!

A Trifle Dessert

I made this for a gathering of friends on July 3. It was easy and delicious. The vanilla mousse is made by combining a quart of heavy whipping cream and two small packages of instant vanilla pudding. Whip the mixture until stiff peaks form. Then I just layered the fruit, pound cake and mousse.
On top I frosted with cool whip. This does not have to be just a holiday dessert. It could be made with other fruit as well. Pineapple, Raspberries, kiwi etc. would make a delightful dessert.

Boating

An evening boat ride into the fingers of our lake or commonly known as the Inlet to our Lake… treated us to a lovely sunset.

Our friend’s kitty was thinking of coming along but changed his mind when the boat motor turned on.

Family Visits

A trip into Cleveland, Ohio made it possible to see family. My heart is filled with Joy!
The Cleveland Terminal Tower
The Cleveland Script
We enjoyed seeing my sister’s Brown Eyed Susans. I call these Flower Fireworks!

Book Club

I had a enjoyable FaceTime with my Book Club friends back in Arizona!

We found our last book to be “mediocre.” We all used that word! It All Comes Back to You by Beth Duke was the book.

But if you know us a girls… we have no problem discussing lots of other topics!

We also chose our next book as one of the gals has family at The Cape and visits there often. Cape Cod by William Martin.

A Fun Week Was Had!

Way beyond knee high by the 4th of July!

We are definitely not standing around and watching the corn grow! Lots of fun was had here at Two Trails One Road!

My friends, I wish you could join me for these fresh strawberries here in our kitchen. I even have some Trifle left and would love to share. Thanks so much for your kind words and comments. Take good care of yourselves and come back next week.

  1. Wish I had tasted that trifle! Beautiful and so glad you had a fun filled productive weekend. It was so good to see you both. Love ya sister

  2. That sounds like a wonderful holiday all around! Looks like you had the same beautiful weather we had. Love that sunset and beautiful water! Fireworks, July 4 — all good! And Cleveland — I’m due for a trip (all my family is there!). Big smiles!

    1. Cleveland was my home for many years. Where is your family in Cleveland… who knows, we may have crossed paths at one time.
I am so glad you enjoyed reading. I’m also glad you had the same beautiful weather!
Happy week to you my friend!

  3. Nancy, I was wondering about a Tidbits post for today. You did not disappoint. Your lake community looks like my idea of an all-American Independence Day celebration…wonderful photos. I am so glad you had time in Cleveland with family. I would love to have a heaping helping of your trifle.

    Enjoy your week, my friend!

    1. I just could not finish my post last night after we got home from our lovely family visits. I had heavy eyes. A fresh morning start was what I needed to click on the publish tab.
I’m so happy you found me a bit later.
Thank you for all the love! Happy week to you!

  4. Love your trifle recipe — saving to my “must do” ideas! And I too see flowers as fireworks!!! Happy 4th of July recovery day! 🙂

  5. As always Nancy – wonderful pictures of a magical time here in the Boro! Thanks for capturing, but more importantly SHARING, all the joy you experience in your daily life with each of us! Hugs to you for your kindness to share!!

    1. Thank you Dawn! We’re any of your Littles in the 4th of July bike parade? I missed it but heard it was so darn cute!

      1. They were, Nancy! This was the first year we had any of the littles with us! We had three of the four and I hope to post a picture or two of them soon. It was a lovely day celebrating the good things in life – most especially our freedoms. 🇺🇸

    1. It just doesn’t get any better… does it!?
Hope you had a lovely 4th as well!
Take good care Beth… enjoy your week to come!

  6. I could never imagine you watching the corn grow, Miss Nancy 🥰. Hope you had a wonderful July 4 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

    1. I can’t either! 😄
We had a great time! The 4th was fabulous! And we saw family as well.
      Take good care … Clare.

  7. What a wonderful time you had…seeing family is always special…. especially when all have gone their separate ways. It is great to meet up again.
It has been raining here every evening about 4-5 pm as we are in our monsoon season, but that is ok…I adore the sound of rain and the crisp clean smell afterwards.
Your trifle looks yummy but i am drawn to your rooster. Love him looking over his shoulder at the strawberries on your table. Life is so good….if we just stop and look around and you certainly do that with these tidbits.
    Thanks my friend for sharing.

    1. How about that rooster! I have a small collection of them. They are all made in Italy… and there is a legend behind them. Supposedly an Italian Farmer let his roosters out to scare the robbers away. It worked so he decided to make hand painted roosters and give them away to friends, family and townspeople. I have no idea if this has been retold correctly or not but it sure does sound good!
Glad to hear from you Kari! Happy Tuesday!

  8. Such fun on the lake! Nothing better than summer boating and fireworks over the water! Beautiful sunset and yummy trifle! I love your sister’s “firecracker” Brown Eyed Susans 🙂 so nice she lives close enough to easily visit. Nice that you could join your book club, but not fun when you spend time reading a mediocre book…July is flying by, enjoy!

  9. You have been so busy having fun! Your lake and your community offer so many opportunities. What a blessing. As for the books, sometimes you get one with great press that really didn’t deserve it. I hope the Cape Cod book will be better. My book group is the same way–we can always find something to talk about. We set aside time in our Zoom meetings just for that purpose. How nice that you can keep up with your club in AZ. Wishing you a great week!

  10. If there is one person I don’t worry about having fun on a daily basis, it is you. What a week and a holiday you had, and that dessert looks heavenly. You definitely make the most of your ‘lake time.’ 👏🏻

  11. I’m glad you are having such a fun-filled summer. I admire the communities you have in both places you live. They seem perfect for you and your husband. How nice that you can continue with your AZ book club in PA!

  12. Looks like a good holiday weekend. Your trifle looks delicious and so festive for the 4th. The lake looks like so much fun.
    Thanks for the book recommendation.
Gorgeous sunset. That would have made my day!
Enjoy the rest of the week. I can’t believe tomorrow is Friday.

    1. Bonnie… you ended up in my Spam Folder! Oh my goodness!
Thanks for stopping by dear friend! And thanks for enjoying!
