Tuesday Tidbits #183 Long Days of Summer

Hello Friends!

Thanks for stopping by. It’s another Summertime Tuesday! I’m so glad you are here. I hope you all had a wonderful week. We had an eventful week and weekend.

Cherry Picking

We went cherry picking! 🍒
The fruit was abundant!
Sweet Man!
So fun!

Of course after all that fun work… I had to make a dessert. But first the cherries needed washed and pitted.

Washed cherries.
The pitting begins.
I used a skewer to remove the pits. A messy endeavor for my finger nails.

Cherry Crisp

A delicious Cherry Crisp was enjoyed. Whipped Cream is on mine!
🍒❤️🍒

Here is the link for the Cherry Crisp recipe. It was quite tasty and easy to make.

Down At the Lake

This view never gets old!
Water lilies always bring a smile to my face.
Swamp Milkweed
Common Milkweed
Bees love the Buttonbush.
Hollyhocks
Pink Day Lilies.
Another Lakeside roadside post. You can read more about these Lakeside Road Posts here!
A new historical marker went up down at the lake. This was in remembrance of the old Canoe Club that once stood here. Many of us grew up hanging out at the Canoe Club. Lots of dances, pin ball, great food, and a place to meet up with your friends. What a great childhood I had!

Family Came for a Visit

We went boating!

And we also went to Westfield, New York for a Farmer’s Market and sight seeing.

Westfield, New York

The kids brought us flowers!

Cloud Watching

Sunset Clouds
Late Evening Clouds
Reflecting Clouds
Tree Peaking Clouds

A lovely week was had! We are so grateful for the long days of summer that let us savor the simple pleasures of life. Have you ever gone Cherry Picking? What summer desserts have you enjoyed? Do you watch the clouds go by? What simple pleasures are you savoring?

As I always try to convey… we sure do appreciate all of you. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

Wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead. Whatever you have planned… make every summer day count.

I would love to have some with my tea this morning. All of the photographs you shared are beautiful. Have a wonderful rest of your week, sweet friend!

  3. Beautiful my friend. Now I want a cherry something…anything. LOL What fun to have family visiting and as usual your pics are amazing. What a great and glorious week you have had. Blessings Kari

  4. Beautiful pictures, Nancy! I’ve not seen cherries growing. They are very pretty. Looks like pitting them is rather tedious. But your cherry dessert looks worth it. I would love some.
Glad your family visit was special. The summer is ending fast. That is the time the kids are out of school. I think three more weeks here before it starts.
My grandchildren are coming for a visit soon. We are looking forward to it.

    1. How fun for you Bonnie! The littles are coming!

Pitting the cherries was work but so worth it. The Cherry Crisp was amazing!
Happy Tuesday ! Have fun with your grandkids!

  5. You are having such a grand time. I do love those posts. But what I really adore are the cherries. This is my favorite fruit and the season for the really good ones is so short. I’m hoping to get back to the cottage in time to get fresh berries from my favorite market seller! It’s a perfect dessert or snack. Thanks for the recipe, too!

  6. You had a great week going there and then threw in a family visit to take it over the top! I have never gone cherry picking. I certainly eat as many as I can when they are in season. I LOVE them. I’ve been picking almost two pounds of raspberries every day, and I made a really good raspberry Clafoutis the other day along with raspberry syrup for lemonade and freezer jam. The lake looks so cool and refreshing. Lucky woman!

    1. Hello Judy! It was a fun week for sure.

2pounds a day… ?wow! You have been busy! And your dessert sounds delicious.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Hugs!

    1. These were quite reasonable. Plus you get some free ones as you eat while you pick! 😁
Thanks for the visit Chris. Enjoy your week!

  7. Those cherries look so good, but pitting them is a big job! It looks like it was worth the effort though! Beautiful flowers and photos of your lake life…the water lilies are beautiful! The church in New York is so pretty, I love the classic architecture. I can’t believe it’s almost the end of July, this summer seems to be flying by! Enjoy~

    1. That why we gave to bake everyday count! Summer is so darn short!
Thank you for the visit And kind words Jenna. Happy Tuesday!

  8. Everything looks like the epitome of summer fun ☀️, Nancy, and as much as I love winter, you have me pining for warmer days (but in a good way). Oh, and that Cherry Crisp looks scrumptious 🍒

  9. You are having such a lovely summer! I enjoy reading about your happy times as well as viewing your photography. That church architecture is over the top stunning. Enjoy the lake and all of your activities.

    1. Thank you so very much! I always am so happy you come for a visit. That church was absolutely beautiful! Enjoy your week my friend!

  10. Those cherries looks so delicious! Absolutely mouth watering! I might try to make your cherry crisp in a month or so when they are ripe in our area. I made a rhubarb pie earlier this week, the kids liked it 🙂 Keep enjoying your fabulous summer!

  11. The Cherry Crisp looks heavenly. We have, indeed, gone cherry picking. In fact, we had a few trees in the yard in Washington. Funny thing was, we had a friendly competition with the local bird population. The girls were young at the time. It was great fun. Never made desserts, just ate them.

Summer looks glorious on the lake. Nice you had family visit and revisited your memories from the Canoe Club. Keep loving life….donna

  12. What gorgeous pictures Nancy. You two were very brave picking cherries with white shorts/pants and a white shirt! 🤣 Your cherry crisp looks so delicious!

    1. We were on our way back from visiting friends. We had no idea we were going to pick cherries. But there they were… so we did. lol!
      Thank you for the visit!

  13. Your cherry picking took me back to my childhood. We had cherry trees in our backyard and couldn’t wait for picking season and what our mom would make from them. The pictures as always are beautiful….thanks for sharing!
