Tuesday Tidbits #192 Canada🍁🍁

Welcome Friends!

We went on an adventure!

A few hours north of us from here in Pennsylvania… is Canada.

I always wanted to stand in Canada directly across from Erie, Pennsylvania. I got my wish.

Long Point Ontario

Where the dark clouds meet Lake Erie is Erie, Pennsylvania.

To get the view above… we went to Long Point which is a peninsula near Port Rowan in Ontario Canada on Lake Erie. Many have swam across Lake Erie starting from this point to just north of the city of Erie in Pennsylvania. It’s 23.8 miles. Amazing!

Many houses line the Lake here. Their back yards are the beach.
Quite a large log washed up onto the beach.
We were prepared with an umbrella as the weather was having a hard time deciding if it wanted to rain. We did not find any treasure here. There were no rocks or beach glass anywhere to be found.

We did chat with the woman who owns this house and property. She found treasures of a different kind.

Do you see the shovels she has found along the beach?
Here’s a closer look.
This tree was in her backyard!

As we left the peninsula we saw this Marsh that had plenty of egrets and Canadian geese but not one in my picture!

As we headed towards London, Ontario we were amazed by the many fields of pumpkins and squash. It seemed like miles upon miles of orange, green and yellow!

Quite a large pumpkin patch!
We never saw so many in an area. This was just one area among many! And they look like they are ready to be harvested.
This was a decorative feature at the pumpkin field. The truck seems to be hauling a large gourd of some sort! Or is it a boulder?

Grand Bend Beach

Lake Huron Ontario

The next day we headed to Grand Beach. Sweet Man was here 30 years ago and wanted to share this place with me.

The entrance to the beach area.
Beautiful!

The flowers added that extra color that I love.
Sweet Man looking for treasure.

As we headed back to the car… I noticed this area. It reminded me of spots in Alaska or Maine.

This was part of Grand Bend but it took me back to our visits to Alaska or Maine.

Thedford Ontario

We enjoy traveling the back roads when visiting an area. We had a destination in mind but found beauty along the way. That’s what’s so nice when taking a road trip. You just never know what you are going to come upon! And it makes every turn so exciting!

Their Soybeans were showing off their Autumn Gold.
A surprise with a field of soybeans.
An apple orchard!
Of course we had to stop at the Apple Orchard’s Store. The scent of apple cider was heavenly!
We even found an outdoor market!

Port Franks

An area for Sand Dunes by Lake Huron.

This was a restoration area so no climbing of the dunes was permitted.

Arkona Ontario

Another place Sweet Man wanted me to see was a lovely place called Rock Glen Falls. He camped here 30 years ago.

It took us a while to find the Falls but after we crossed this bridge we found them!
We had this little guy tag along with us.

After climbing down the stairs we came to the Falls. I was so happy there was water flowing as it had not rained in quite a while. Oh how pretty!

It was a lovely spot. It flooded Sweet Man’s head with so many precious memories!

A lovely spot.

We climbed back up the steps and went to the top of the falls.

A place to enjoy the quiet.

Fall Bucket List

You can say we sure did cover a lot of ground in a few short days. We also checked off a few items from our Fall Bucket List. Visit an Apple Orchard.✔️ Take a nature walk and find signs of fall.✔️ Visit a Pumpkin Patch.✔️ Next on our list is to enjoy some Pumpkin Beer, Pumpkin Bakery, and perhaps buy a Mum! Stay tuned!

Thank You

Thank you for coming along on our adventure. I also would like to say that if you plan on visiting Canada you must register before crossing the border. To do so download the app ArriveCan. It’s very easy!

As I always try to convey… we sure do appreciate all of you. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

Wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what September brings to you this week. Perhaps you can check off some things from your own Fall Bucket List

Whatever you have planned… make every day count.

Happy Fall!

    1. I appreciate your visit! Thanks for enjoying our adventure. And yes… it made the border crossing at the Peace Bridge from New York into Canada much more easy.
      Stop by again!

  1. Now, that was an adventure! I enjoyed the photos and especially the mention of London, Ontario, because we have some treasured friends who live there. So glad you had such a great time and checked so many things off your fall bucket list. Enjoy the cooler fall weather.

    1. It was a lot of fun Judy! London was a busy city and the local university kept it hopping. And a lovely park in the city area as well.
Glad to hear from you my friend. Happy Fall!

  2. What a lovely visit across the border to Canada, Nance! When we visit our neighbors, I always am amazed when I realize, we are in another nation! But so close!! Anyway … Yes, those scenes do remind me on Maine (I have not been lucky enough to compare them to Alaska, alas). I must say my sense of humor tells me that as soon as I saw the sign for Port Franks I would have to go searching for a hot dog stand. Happy week to you two!!

    1. Oh that’s a good one Mr. Mark! That did not occur to us when we were there. Sweet Man will have a chuckle when I tell him.
      Glad you enjoyed our adventure.
      Happy Fall!

  3. Nancy, it seems that you always find wonderful places to visit. Your photos are wonderful as always. Road trips offer so much that you would never discover, otherwise. Fields of pumpkins are exciting to see. Thank you for allowing me to ride along with you. It was a fun trip!

    Happy Tuesday!

  4. What a fun and lovely road trip! I love the way you explore the areas you visit and go off the beaten path~ The sand pail shovel decorations are so cute, how funny! I loved seeing the huge pumpkin patch, and all the photos of the lake are just beautiful. I enjoyed your trip very much and look forward to your upcoming pumpkin adventures!

    1. Good Morning Jenna!
On this trip we saw 3 of the 5 Great Lakes. Lake Erie, Lake Huron and coming home we saw Lake Ontario from afar.
We have stayed on an island on Lake Michigan and we have seen Lake Superior… so we are happy to say we have seen all the Great Lakes!
I am so glad you enjoyed our adventure.
Thank you for all you kind comments!
      Happy Fall!

  5. Nancy, it looks like you had a most wonderful time! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Canada looks beautiful! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead, sweet friend!

  6. Sounds like the perfect fall get away. Even though our summer has flown by, I’ve missed time in the north woods amongst the lush vegetation. The Great Lakes never cease to amaze me on how they resemble an ocean. And it’s always ice-cold water, brrr! No swimming for me.

    1. Hello Ingrid… So nice to hear from you.
Lake Erie warms up pretty nicely as it is the most shallow of all the Great Lakes.
Summer has flown by. It’s going to be a sad day when we have to pull the boat out. But until then… we shall boat away.
Thank you for stopping by… and give that little one a hug and a smooch from me.
      Happy Fall!

  7. You take the BEST trips. So many I have bookmarked to be taken when our life slows down….perhaps next year????🤣🤣🤣. Hugs to you now though, for taking me there with you in the meantime, through the wonderful photos you string together in word & deed!! 🎃

  8. What a fabulous little adventure, Nancy 🥰 I’ve always loved Canada and hope to get back there one day. Doing so is on my bucket list.

    1. Hello Jodie!Weren’t those shovels something else! The apple orchard was fun and tasty too.
I’m so glad you stopped by.
      Happy Fall!

  9. I love Canada and Ontario. In fact, Rick and I have talked about moving to London depending on what happens in 2024 (at least for the six months of the year non-residents can stay in Canada). You’ve discovered a lot of things new to me, too, and now I have a list! (I might pass on the pumpkin beer you mentioned in your fall bucket list, though!) You guys do terrific trips and Canada is such a wonderful spot to explore! Thanks for taking us there and reminding me to get there again soon!

  10. What a lovely adventure! You have checked off so many things on your bucket list and probably saw and did things you would have had on the list had you known they were there! How about a collection of sand shovels? 😉 The clouds made a beautiful backdrop for your pictures. Nobody does beautiful scenery like God–and all for free!😀

    1. God sure knows how to place beauty in front of my lens. I’m so grateful for that!
It was a fun adventure and I’m so happy you came along!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for your lovely visits.
      Happy Fall!

  11. What a lovely trip welcoming you to Autumn. Lots to see up there. I am happy your husband got to revisit some old memories. Seems like you enjoyed it with him. The lakes are so much like oceans up there and I got a kick out of the lady who collected the lost shovels. She did a nice job a repurposing. My favorite photo was of the purple flowers on the dunes at Grand Bend. What a great road trip.
