Tuesday Tidbits!
If you are from the USA… How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was quiet and so wonderful! We hosted a Friendsgiving earlier in the week with 20 friends… it was fun and filling! And we had a lovely family gathering in Pennsylvania before we came out here to AZ. Back in Pa. we enjoyed lots of good food and also enjoyed a boat ride. Lots of festivities to be grateful for… as well as our quiet Thanksgiving.
Saguaros
On my walk the other day I saw this tall saguaro. (Pronounced sa-war-oh) By looking at its size I believe it is about 75-100 years old. However, what amazed me more was that in its late age… it was starting to grow an arm!
Here in Arizona… we love our saguaros very much! They are protected. It is illegal to cut one down or remove one from the desert. They can grow very old and can weigh 3200-4800 pounds if hydrated after a rain. I loved seeing that little arm starting to grow… such promise!
Adventure!
We did head out for a desert adventure with a few friends. It was great to be among the saguaros again.
Seeing the back desert roads and views made for a fabulous Thanksgiving Week.
Cleators
Whenever we head this way on an adventure… we always stop in at the Yacht Club. It’s a bar out in the middle of the desert. It’s a place to stop and take a rest from the ride. It’s not fancy… but it’s quite unique!
Inside you see the uniqueness. It’s always fun to look around.

This post puts a smile on my face, Nancy! I so enjoy your Tuesday Tidbits. I loved, loved visiting Arizona years ago and being out in those magnificent saguaros (did I spell it correctly? 🤣). I have the most wonderful children’s book I read to all our 5 children (they all still remember it too!). It is entitled Catcus Hotel, by Brenda Z. Guiberson. Have you seen it? Happy Tuesday Nancy! You know I love seeing your beautiful cacti, and wow, I had no idea they could be a hundred years old! The Yacht Club looks like a very fun place, the old boats in the back are so crazy! I’m glad you had a lovely Thanksgiving week, we had planned to go to the beach house, but a rainy forecast changed our plans and we stayed home and had a last minute non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner with BBQ ribs, it was great!
Sounds like a yummy feast to me!

Such a delightful post. I’ve been to Arizona and have seen the amazing saguaros, but I didn’t know they were protected or the other facts about them. Fascinating! Funny about the saguaro arm. I just saw one the other day too, and was thinking it was a first bud for me as well.
And how do I not know about Cleators? lol. I just sent the website link to my husband. What a coo stop over after wheeling around. Welcome “home” again.
Cleators is on Crown King Road. It’s on the way to Crown King. Also the Back Road to Cleators is pretty cool. Some scary spots along the way so it’s wise to do with other people. We have ridden it with the Cave Creek Riders… a Meet Up Group.

The road to Crown King is not treacherous. Off the 17 at the Bumble Bee exit.
