Winter!
I remember my Mom saying, “We’re having a Cold Snap.” She would mention that during many ice-cold winter days. The saying fits perfectly for our whole nation this week—it’s bitter cold!
Oh, don’t you worry! We may not have any snow here in the desert but I can just imagine how beautiful our trees in Pennsylvania must look right now.
How about you? Enjoying Hot Chocolate a bit more? Making soup to warm you? Have a fire burning in the fireplace? Are you putting an extra blanket on the bed? Wearing layers when you go outside? Shoes and socks instead of sandals?
“There’s nothing better than curling up with a good book and sitting in front of the fire on winter evenings.” —Leo Sayer
Flowers!
Even though it’s cold outside and we are experiencing a drought. I saw Brittlebush blooming! I was thrilled to see it! It always seems to be the first flower to bloom in the desert. At least where we live.
Here’s a fun cartoon/digital image of the photo above.
I was delighted to see another flower! The neighbor’s paperwhites are blooming! They’re such a cheerful sight!
Donkey’s in the Neighborhood
There have been sightings of several wild Donkeys/Burros in our neighborhood. It’s common for them to roam, but this is the first time they have come this close to home. They were brought to Arizona over 150 years ago to help with mining. These are the descendants. We always enjoy seeing them!

Sweet Man wants to send you all a Big Thank You for all the Birthday Wishes! He had a great birthday and is happily on the road to recovery. Your kind thoughts really meant a lot!
Thank You
That’s all for now. Stay warm my friends!
