Tuesday Tidbits #330 WE DID IT!

Here we are in Fargo, North Dakota, with sweet man’s sister and brother-in-law.

The moment we entered our last state was exciting! After years of perseverance, we achieved our goal!

Excellent Hospitality

The Fargo Visitor Center was just a stone’s throw away from our hotel, so we decided to pop in and look for a North Dakota sign.

We were greeted with the warmest hospitality as soon as we walked in! When the lady at the center learned that this was our 50th state, she surprised us with a special certificate and a free T-shirt. It was such a fun photo opportunity, too. We felt so welcomed and excited! It was a wonderful celebration for us. ALL 50 states!

Fargo Movie

Have you seen the movie Fargo?? If so, look what they had! If you know, you know!

THE WOOD CHIPPER!

Mackinac Island

Before we arrived in North Dakota, we visited Mackinac Island, located on Lake Huron in Michigan. The island does not allow cars. Only bikes and horse-drawn carriages are allowed for transportation around the island. A ferry took us over to the island from St. Ignace, Michigan.

This was our transport!

Flowers being transported to The Grand Hotel.

The island is famous for its gorgeous lilacs that line the streets, and they were still in full bloom when we got there! It was such a lovely welcome!

Some lilac trunks are quite wide.

The Flowers

The island is also known for its gorgeous flowers. Many are perennials, but many more are annuals.

A wildflower that is found in the Mackinac forests are Lady Slipper plants. They are a type of orchid. These plants are protected. It is illegal to pick them or remove them from the island. We were lucky to see them!

Arch Rock

The Arch Rock is a natural limestone arch that is a must-see on the island.

We enjoyed the gorgeous view near Arch Rock.

The Grand Hotel

When on Mackinac Island another must-see is The Grand Hotel!

The Grand Hotel

Renowned for having the largest porch in the world, its grandeur makes it a truly magnificent sight to behold.

It was built in 1887 and has a rich history.

The view from The Grand Hotel porch.

We chose to go inside the hotel. Each person must pay $12.00 to enter. It was definitely worth it.

The Grand Hotel Lobby

A seating area in the lobby.

The Baroque

We enjoyed a lovely Manhattan in this red room.

The ice cube had the fsmouse B for Baroque.

I enjoyed the carpeting inside The Grand Hotel.

But of course we sat on the famous Porch!

Red Geraniums are everywhere.

Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island has always been on our bucket list, and we were absolutely thrilled to finally visit! What a charming place it is!

Thank You

We just got back from this remarkable road trip that covered 2400 miles! We can’t wait to share more about our adventures with you next week. But for now, it’s time for us to relax and recharge! Stay tuned!

Happy Summer! Stay cool!
