Tuesday Tidbits #209 Peaceful Days

Hello Folks… Are you enjoying the peacefulness after Christmas? The downtime? I enjoy the month of January. Nothing to do except …enjoy life. I enjoy watching great football, reading good books, and taking the time to get out and enjoy the fabulous weather. Here in the desert we can do that. The temperatures are in the high 60’s to mid 70’s in January. It’s Perfect weather! Although, we have had our share of rain but we welcome it! The desert loves the rain and soaks it all in. And with this rain comes the hope for a super bloom! We had a rainy winter back in 2019 similar to what we are experiencing this winter. Oh, and what a spectacular super bloom we had!

This hillside was covered with wildflowers in March of 2019.
Our desert poppies are a thrill to see!
When the wild lupines mix in with the desert poppies… it’s heaven on earth!

A girl can dream…right? I will say the Brittle Bush is blooming now… so I am getting hopeful!

Brittle Bush

Because of the rain… the desert is starting to show shades of green!

It’s always a joy to see grass in the desert.

Desert Ride

The rain was gone for several days and one particular day it was 75 degrees and sunny. We got our friends together and we went for a much needed ride in the desert!

Wild Burros

On our desert ride we got to see many wild burros! They are always so fun to see. They are descendants from the Gold Rush Days of the mid 1800’s.

Look at that cute baby!

They are always so curious when we drive by.

Birds of a Feather

We had some visitors in our backyard a few days ago!

This visitor did not mind how close I got. I told him to stay away from my Goldfinches.
Costa’s Hummingbird… taken with my cellphone.
My new friend!

It was a great week. I hope it was for you as well. I have to share one last photo with you. I saw these beautiful paperwhites on my walk through the neighborhood. Spring is on its way!

Thank You

As I always try to convey… we sure do appreciate all of you. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

💜🤍💚

Wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what this upcoming week brings to you. And whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings.

  1. That hummingbird is a dazzler! And you make the desert look downright gorgeous! It has been a long while since I’ve been to AZ. I suppose it is good you are getting the rain but after a bit it gets old. Here we have zero snow. Which, I might add, is fine with me. But very odd.

    1. My friends from Ohio are saying the same thing. Cold but no snow.
I am glad you enjoyed the desert today. And how about that purple dazzler! 💜
      Thank you for stopping by.
      Enjoy your Tuesday!

  2. So wonderful to hear that you’ve gotten rain, and I do hope you’ll get some beautiful blooms in the spring! Wonderful pictures of your desert ride, and so lovely seeing the burros! I like January’s rest also! Blessings to you!

  3. Happy Tuesday Nancy, your photos have brightened my gray rainy morning! The desert bloom from 2019 is certainly beautiful, I love all those yellow poppies! I so enjoyed my drive through the country side and seeing the wonderful cacti and cute curious burrows! You always remind us to live everyday with joy and gratitude, thank you for your uplifting words 💕

  4. Good morning, Nancy! The photographs of the pretty blooms was the perfect thing to brighten a winter’s day. You live in such a beautiful place! I enjoyed seeing all of your feathered friends. That hummingbird is beautiful! Wishing you a most wonderful week, sweet friend!

    1. Thank you Shannon! I am so glad you enjoyed your visit to the desert today! And that little purple humming bird visited me again today. He enjoys when I talk to him!

  5. “we have had our share of rain but we welcome it!” – Lucky you!!!
I love all the pictures. Thanks for sharing, and have a great week,
    Pit

    1. Lucky we are! We need the reservoirs to fill up and the Colorado River!
Thanks for the visit Pit! I am so glad you enjoyed the pictures!
      Happy Tuesday!

  6. It must be so lovely to see the green tinge on the desert, Nancy, and I know you will cherish all the colour that will arrive in spring. Isn’t Mother Nature wonderful? Happy week to you and Sweet Man.

  7. I remember driving from Goodyear to LA in early 2019 and blown away how green the desert actually was. Had the same type of “awe” moment last week flying into LA after their record rainfalls with how green it is!!! Love the desert blooms after that type of winter. Great pictures….thanks for sharing!!

  8. What a great time of year in Arizona! I hope you get those wonderful blooms this year; I think you might. Nothing makes me smile like burros (and basset hounds–the ears maybe?). And nothing is cuter than a baby burro. The last picture of the burro looked like possibly another baby is on the way. I have never seen a hummingbird with such vivid, true purple. Your new friend is gorgeous. I’m glad you are enjoying your January.

    1. Thank you!
That purple dazzler came back to visit me again. He sits there on the Agave and listens to me talk to him. So sweet. The Costas Hummingbird calls the Southwest home.
Thanks for visiting my friend. Happy Tuesday!

  9. Good evening, Nancy. I enjoyed seeing the beautiful desert through your camera lens. Your photos show so much beauty and you do a great job of capturing amazing shots. The burros are so cute and apparently curious. The hummingbird is absolutely stunning. I have never seen even a photo of one that I remember. Your post is lovely for a cloudy and rainy day! Wishing you a wonderful week, sweet friend!

    1. THANK YOU Pam! It was so nice to read your sweet words this evening.
The wild burros are always such a treat to see when out in the desert.
And that hummingbird came to visit me once again today. He loves to listen to me talk!
      Enjoy your week!

    1. I had a great week with wildlife! I have to tell you… the Costa’s Hummingbird (purple neck beauty) visited me yet again. He/she enjoys listening to me chat with him. I can get very close while he sits on the agave stem.
Thank you so much for your kind comments . It’s always good to hear from you!

  10. I lovely look at our desert with color. And a hawk?? nice.
I didn’t think we could grow daffodils here, but my neighbor grows orchids, so I guess its all about diligence.

    1. He is a purple dazzler! I call him “my little friend.”
And the desert likes rain and enjoys the green just like we do.
Thank you for visiting dear one!
