Road Trip

Do you cringe or smile when you hear the words “Road Trip?”

I actually love it! My sweet man and I often road trip. We don’t just jump in the car and go. We plan. Actually sweet man plans it all. He figures out the route, the hotels, antique stores and for me he thinks about photo ops. Which means the SIGHTS in the area that we will enjoy and I can photograph. I’ll also do some research about the SIGHTS. Then we head out.

I always pack healthy food to munch on while we are on the move. It helps us from getting “HANGRY!” …but we will partake in the local food. I love trying something new and enjoy what the area is known for.

This was from Ragun Cajun bar of Petersburg, VA. It was the best Crawfish Γ‰touffΓ©e I have ever had!

We also try to visit friends along the way…

Visiting friends along the Potomac River. They made us a fabulous dinner!

After fun fellowship it’s hard to get back on the road again but off we go!

You never know what a wrong turn will take you.

You have to know and understand your partner when traveling. To say it simply… don’t let a beautiful trip turn into an argument. Know who is best at the driving and the navigating. And KNOW what works best for your situation. And if tempers do flare… forgive and forget as a road trip can be tiring! Play great music… some karaoke can make everyone happy!

My honey knows I love old trucks… when he sees one he will point it out or pull over so I can take a picture!

He waits patiently while I take a million captures.

Sometimes with all the sightseeing a thirst for a cold one comes up! Especially if old memories need to be relived.

After a cold one we soak up more of the sights…

  1. I’m as happy for your road trips as I am for our road trips, Nance! Your photos and way with words take me there, too.

Yes, my dear wife Karen and I have developed our rhythm of the road. The kids, too, for the big family reunions that take place more faraway every other summer. All of them know that I often lag behind or sprint ahead for that special photo opp. They even point out good stuff they think I have missed.

Happy holiday weekend to you and sweet man!

    1. This current road Trip is steamy! It’s hot and steamy in the south but oh so worth it!

Thanks for stopping over. We really enjoyed Charleston and Savannah!

  2. I adore road trips. Both well planned and ‘get in the car and go’ varieties. Those lobsters certainly look delicious. Enjoyed seeing South Carolina pictures. I often get nostalgic for my years living in the south. Meanwhile, things are certainly heating up here in Arizona, Nancy. …in so many ways. Happy to see you enjoying and sharing your summer. Be cool dear Nancy. Thank you for a great photo essay.

    1. Oh JoHanna the south is steamy! Arizona is hot! And Pennsylvania is as well! It’s warm everywhere. But it’s Arizona that needs the rain.

I am so glad to see you! I have been trying to comment on your blogs but something goes wrong or I can’t do it at all. Take care my friend.

      1. Oh, have closed comments for awhile on my website. There should be a ‘comments closed’ note at the bottom.
I’m reading/researching for a big piece of writing I’m working on, so the best I can do right now is to try to pop in and enjoy all the great websites and folks who I enjoy.
All my best to you Nancy.

      2. That explains it! I am wishing you well and continued success on your personal endeavors my Arizona friend!

  3. Nancy, what a beautiful road trip for you and your honey! The photo of the rainbow houses is stunning as are all of your photos. You captured two of my favorite southern cities, Savannah and Charleston! Happy Sunday~

    1. Happy Sunday to you as well.

I’m so in love with these two cities. What history they both have along with incredible architecture.

And we have been sharing wonderful southern dishes. It’s easier for us to share an entree as it’s better for us health wise and we don’t walk away feeling over stuffed!

    1. Mary… we both enjoy and share what God puts in front of our lens. Your compliment means so much to me! Thank you my friend!

  4. Looks and sounds like a great road trip. I love road trips and some of my faves have been with my daughter. You captured some lovely images showcasing your excursion beautifully.

    1. Ingrid your words mean so much! I highly regard you as an amazing photographer and essay writer! So thank you very much my friend! 😊

It’s been fun to enjoy the south and to definitely take time to enjoy the one million photos I took of my son’s and new daughters wedding!!

      Have a wonderful 4th!

      1. Awe, in usual Nancy style, you are too kind πŸ˜™ I look forward to your return to AZ so you can share all your wonderful summer details with me 🍹 Don’t forget to post some “patriotic” photos on Wednesday 😁

    1. Believe it or not… these were all taken with my iPhone 7 Plus. Edited on my phone. As of late … all of my posts are using the WordPress app right from my phone. The ease of the app is why I am able to post more. I did not pack my regular camera… but don’t get me wrong. I miss it as it gets fabulous zoom pics where this phone does not. Although I heard I can attach a lens to this phone to get a zoom shot.

Thank you for enjoying our current trip. I’m in love with these two cities even with the steamy temps.

And you are warmer then AZ today?!?! What?? 😳

      1. There are different editing apps out there that I enjoy.

PS Express is a Photo Shop editing App that’s a favorite.

The iPhone 7 Plus has 2 cameras that makes picture taking so fun.

Now…I can’t believe you were in my neck of the woods.. lol.. we should have met for a meal lol… hopefully next time when you visit SC hit me up.. be safe in your travels babe..

    1. It was fabulous! Thank you for stopping by!

I just posted another road trip that was equally enjoyable. A Stroll through Oglebay!

  12. I love road trips and you definitely had a fabulous one, Nancy! Your pictures show a stunning scenery. Charleston seems like a place I’d love to explore. Is a day trip to there enough to see all the highlights?

    1. Charleston has so much to offer. If you got there early enough you could pack it all in… in one day. However… staying overnight you could do it more comfortably and experience some of the restaurants as well. Then head to Savannah and experience their gorgeous southern hospitality!
