Pollinators
If you are a Gardener, you already know you positively impact our planet. By taking care of your garden, you have created a home for the pollinators, no matter how big or small.

Did you know 75-90% of the World’s Flowering Plants depend on these happy creatures? That is over 180,000 different plants! We would have difficulty eating if we didn’t have our busy creatures pollinating our vegetable gardens and farms.

Container Planting Attracts Pollinators
You don’t need a big garden to help our Earth. If you have a little bit of space in your backyard, consider planting some lovely pollinator-attracting flowers in containers. They’ll bring a splash of color and help the bees and butterflies.

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else is going to save it.” ~Robert Swan
Plant Seeds
Now is a great time to gather your seeds and plan a small flower garden in a larger container. When the threat of frost is gone, plant away! 🌸

A few years ago, here at our Arizona home, I planted Zinnias in a large container in October. By February I had zinnias blooming and they lasted into May.

One Step at a Time
We can all help our planet Earth by recycling, conserving water, planting flowers for pollinators, using long-lasting light bulbs, and reducing consumption, to name just a few.
“Don’t waste the Earth; it is our Jewel!” ~Buzz Aldrin

Thank You
Enjoy your Earth Day. I hope you can help the Earth one step at a time. I do hope you can also help the pollinators.

As I always try to convey… we sure do appreciate all of you. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

Happy Earth Day Nancy! I’m all about the bees and pollinators, great minds blog alike 😉 Love seeing your blooms, butterflies and bees! I’ll be sowing some seeds this week with the threat of frost behind us. Enjoy your week and blooms! 🐝🦋🌺
Oh Mary, I know you help our Earth every day from your gorgeous gardens. Your love of Bees always makes me happy. 🐝
Thank you for enjoying all my visiting pollinators!
Happy Earth Day!
Happy Earth Day! Beautiful flowers. Who tends your AZ garden while you are in PA for the summer, have a watering system, or does it do okay without a tender?
Thank you for the visit, Judy. We have people. Lol!
We also have a watering system, but our AZ garden has many drought-tolerant plants that do not need much water.
I know you help the Earth every day with your beautiful gardens. I am looking forward to Spring and Summer at your place.
Happy Earth Day, and thank you Always for your kind comments!
Beautiful gardens! Love those pollinators. I remember the first time I saw a Hummingbird Moth – it was fascinating!
Oh, I know! They really are fascinating!
Thank you for enjoying today’s post!
Happy Earth Day! 🌸🐝
Maybe I’ll give zinnias a go in my big pots. I tried spinach and lettuce but the squirrel seems to have a different idea and despite the cages over them, I awaken every day to fresh holes in the dirt. I don’t know that zinnias would fare any better, but it’s pretty clear the future salads are a thing of the past!
Your photos, as always, are lovely. Happy Earth Day!
Thank you Jeanie for enjoying. I planted Zinnias in a long container last year in Pennsylvania and they did well but I did put plastic pokers down first to keep out the chipmunks and then added chicken wire all around to keep rabbits and groundhogs away. Once they were established I could take the chicken wire away. All those critters have to know we are trying to help the pollinators!
Happy Earth Day sweet friend! 🌸🐝
So lovely! The bees feed us all!
Thank you! And they sure do!
Happy Earth Day! 🐝🌸
Beautiful post. I love the flowers and critters. You have sphinx moths already.
They are something to see!
Thanks for the Earth Day Love!
We plant butterfly bushes in our backyard, Nance, and know that milkweed is a good companion! Happy Earth Day, my friend.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Thank you Mr. Mark!
Happy Earth Day! 🌸🐝🦋
Happy Earth Day, Nancy! Pollinators are so important and we do our best to protect them and encourage them. Zinnia seeds and sunflower seeds were planted last week. In one of our raised beds, the zinnias are up. Butch had a ruby-throated hummingbird almost land on him as he was hiking the woodlands. We haven’t seen a hummingbird visiting the garden this spring. Have a wonderful week 🐝💕
Oh, how fun for Butch to have a hummingbird almost land on him! I nearly had a goldfinch land on me as I added water to the fountain. It must have thought I was a flower. Lol!
Thank you for saving the pollinators. ❤️
The hummingbirds should be coming to your garden soon. Mine have pretty much left. I have a few stragglers.
Happy Earth Day, Sweet Friend! Thanks for all the love! 🐝🌸🦋
Your yard is so pretty and inspirational. I have an old grapefruit tree that will need to come down in the next year or so as it is slowly deteriorating. I’m starting to brainstorm as to how I want to landscape the baren area once the tree is removed. It’ll be sad to lose a 40-year-old beautiful shade tree, but it’ll be fun to redesign the area.
Enjoy the planning, but I am sorry you will lose your tree.
I am sure you will have fun buying plants for the area.
Thank you for the lovely words about our gardens. Enjoy your day today! 🐝🌸🦋
Happy Earth Day, Nancy. Thank you for sharing such an important message this week. Fortunately we also have lots of pollinators in our garden/backyard. In fact, moments ago, our first hummingbird of the season flew to our slider door and had a look inside. 😂
Your backyard space and your garden look amazing! Fabulous photos of the flowers and plants! Excellent capture of the bees and that hummingbird moth! Enjoy your day, my friend!
Thank you for having Sunday Stills and encouraging so many to help our Earth!
Thank you for all the love!
Happy Earth Day! 🐝🌸🦋
What an inspirational post! Just last night, we dragged the flower pots out of the shed. Our last frost date isn’t until May 15th-ish, but I’ve gotta get to the plant store. I love zinnias and don’t know why I’ve never picked up any seed. Maybe this is the year! Thanks again for the lovely visual inspiration!
I am so glad that you are planning on your garden. Have fun planning and planting!
Thank you for your sweet comments!
Happy Earth Day! 🐝🌸🦋
I really enjoyed these glimpses into your beautiful garden!
Thank you so much for joining me in the garden. I wish for you to come back.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Nancy, thank you for this wonderful reminder about the importance of pollinators! Your garden is not only beautiful but helps so many of the pollinators. I usually get my zinnia and sunflower seed in the ground in March but I am way behind this year. I went looking for zinnia seeds at a garden center this morning and they didn’t have any! Yikes! Hopefully I’ll find some somewhere else. Happy Earth Day!
Oh, I sure hope you find some seeds. Thank you for all the sweet comments. Happy Gardening!
I love all of your flower photos–what vibrant colors! Thanks for the pollinator reminder.
Thank you so much for enjoying our gardens. Enjoy the rest of your week! 🐝🌸🦋
We’ve hatched and raised butterflies and ladybugs before– it was a fun science project for my boys and gave us some great pollinators to add to our garden when it was time to release them!
Oh, how fun for your boys. When I taught I did that with my students. It was an enjoyable time for us all.
Thank you for the visit. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Happy Belated Earth Day, Nancy! I loved seeing your blooming photos and was amazed by the hummingbird moth. I’ve planted zinnias, but something eats them as they’re sprouting. This time I bought zinnia plants, and maybe that will work. Thank you for all your information! 💐
Glad you enjoyed. I feel your pain about something eating the Zinnia sprouts. In Pennsylvania I have to be very creative with chicken wire to keep the bunnies and ground hogs away.
Good Luck my friend! Thank you for the visit!
I love when you take pictures of your beautiful flowers! Thank you for sharing them.
Thank you so much for enjoying.
