Fall is in the Air ~ Tuesday Tidbits #94

Hello Friends and Welcome!

I enjoy having my second cup of coffee on the front porch in the mornings. I catch up on emails, blogs, news and social media. Sitting on my wicker chair sipping coffee with my iPad on my lap is a lovely way to start the day. All the while the cars drive by and the chickadees stop in for their favorite munchies at the nearby feeder. Oh… but this week it was a wee bit chilly. You could see the coffee steaming!

A little chickadee…
Cooler mornings…

50 degrees felt sooooo good after our hot summer days.

The geese have been flying overhead every morning. Most likely stopping by at the lake, for a bit, before they move on. Their honking sound is incredible to hear. We don’t hear geese in the Sonoran desert. So hearing them here is a treat!

After porch sitting I head to the kitchen to make some breakfast. This past week another frittata was made as it’s an easy way to use up the veggies from our garden.

A Breakfast Frittata…

I tend to be a cook that does not follow a recipe. But here is how I made this scrumptious breakfast delight.

Like I said… Fall is in the Air. We can feel the crisp air but best of all there are sightings of Fall beginning to show here and there …around NW Pennsylvania.

Golden Rod is pretty but it does give me the sniffles…

The fields of golden rod were late this year but always so pretty to see.

Goldenrod…

You can see that some leaves are starting their autumnal process… in the above capture and below as well.

Even though Halloween is no where near… the pumpkins are making an appearance at road side markets.

We enjoy seeing all these glimpses of fall approaching… but it does mean we are closer to saying goodbye to summer.

But Tonya the Traffic Controller down at the lake is most likely ready to say goodbye to summer as there have been lots of people driving down to Lakeside this year. She advises them in all different ways to SLOW DOWN!

Here she is working on their truck. Look closely she is our resident Barbie Princess!

Tanya the Traffic Controller.

Here she is a few weeks ago captured by my friend Judy.

You can find Judy on Instagram.

I will make sure to share more of Tonya the Traffic Controller in upcoming posts. Most likely she will be raking leaves soon!

So from Tonya and I… Happy Tuesday my friends! Take good care and enjoy the rest of your week!

    1. It is quite delicious! I have made them using zucchini, basil, sausage and peppers. Different kinds of cheeses as well. It can be served as a lovely brunch.
And yes… Tonya has been quite fun!
Thanks for stopping in and Enjoy your Tuesday Judy! 😊

  1. Good morning, Nancy. I love catching up with your lovely lake home living every Tuesday. Fall is in the air in PA. The humidity has come down here in NE AL and is 61 degrees currently, but will rise to 89 this afternoon. The fields of goldenrod are so splendid, I love the warm colors of autumn.

Your frittata looks delicious and reminds me I should make one soon. Tonya the Traffic Controller even works on trucks 😂

Wishing you a lovely day, my friend!

    1. I know can you believe it?! Tonya is something else!

Good Morning Pam. Sounds like the weather is cooperating for you as well. You should try the frittata. It’s delicious! Thank you for the visit and all your kind words!

I bet you are also part of an Autumn Tablescape Party today. I will have to visit with you soon.
Take care and enjoy your Tuesday! 😊

  2. You have to love Barbie. She’s got to be one of the most adaptable creatures on the planet. Seriously, I can so relate to this post. The minute I felt the first cool morning air, I felt calmer and better. I so love this time of year (though a few hours south of you, it’s still too warm to put out pumpkins and mums). I also miss NEPA lakes. Everything in south central is pretty much man-made.

    1. Good Morning Angela… being from SC Pennsylvania you most likely are probably familiar with Edinboro Lake.
It is indeed a glacial lake and not man made. It is considered a “kettle lake” where ice melted from a glacier back during the ice age. It was later dammed to produce a bigger lake. We love it!
You are correct… we here in Western Pennsylvania are blessed with several glacial lakes.
I agree… The cooler temps have brought on a calming feeling. I hope it stays with us for a while.
Thank you for your lovely visit. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week.

  3. The frittata looks yummy! Just seeing the images of all that golden rod got my allergies going! How fun to have a neighbor like Tonya! I’m afraid it will be a while before our temperature drops to the 50’s here. Happy Tuesday!

    1. Good Mornin’ Darlin’ !
Yes Tonya is a fabulous neighbor! I’m proud to know her! Hope to share more pictures of her soon!
And the frittata can be made using whatever is in the fridge! It’s a great way to use up the harvest as well.
Thank you for stopping over. And cooler temps are coming your way. Happy Tuesday!

  4. Love the Barbie! How funny and I bet she gets folks to slow down. I know I would. Signs of fall are all around me and with overnight temps dipping into the 30’s, I have no doubt each day I’ll see more autumn color. Stay warm and keep having fun in the kitchen!

    1. Tonya gets a bit wild too… I heard from her neighbors.
I missed the day she was waving her shirt in the air! 🙃😳🤫
30’s whoa! We are not there yet but the cool breezes and windows all open makes it perfect for sleeping here.
Still waiting for our Loons who stop on the lake at this time of year.
Happy Tuesday my Arizona friend. Looking forward for us to get together. Page Cellars would be a fun get away together! Think about it for our return! ☀️🌵🍷

      1. Ooh, Page Cellars would indeed be fun. Do you think that would work in early November? We won’t return to the valley until the middle or third week in October and the last week is filled with appts.

      2. I think that would be wonderful… but before Thanksgiving as we are hoping to come back out here for Thanksgiving.

      3. Absolutely before Thanksgiving. First, I don’t wish to have a picnic if it’s cold outside and second, I’d like to have plenty of leaves still on the trees and maybe even a few grapes left on the vines. I’ll keep you posted on our travel plans, but let’s try and target the first week in November.

  5. Looks like fall is here, too. We certainly have a change in weather. with at least a little rain lately. Just now there’s a very light rain, too, and it’s only 73 – thank goodness. And it’s supposed to be cool and rainy for the next 7 days! 🙂
Your frittata looks god and yummy. Btw, I usually don’t follow recipes, either, and so far my dishes have not yet poisoned me! 😀
Thanks for all those lovely pictures! 🙂
    Enjoy your day,
    Pit

    1. Pit I am so happy to hear Texas is finally getting some rain and cooler weather! Now we need California to do the same!
Try the frittata it’s quite yummy!
Thank you for all your kind words. I always enjoy your visits. Happy Tuesday Pit!

      1. Maybe, with all those wildfires, California needs rain even more that Texas. We get regular updates from CA because Mary’s daughter lives in Pasadena.

    1. It sure is delicious! Glad to hear you are experiencing Fall as well! I’ll be over soon to see what you have been up to.
      Enjoy your week!

  6. Hi Nancy. As you’re starting to cool down, we’re starting to warm up. The first day of Spring over here was almost ‘hot’ and had us saying “Come on Winter” 🙂 🙂 Love the frittata. I have a similar recipe and it’s so easy to just whip it up. Hope you’ve had a great day my friend.

  7. Oh goodness, I don’t even remember what 50 feels like! We are still in the 90s here, and it’s 75 when I get up…but I won’t complain, I don’t like winter! I can’t wait to start seeing pumpkins, my favorite part of fall! That Barbie is hilarious, I must show this post to CC she LOVES Barbies!! Enjoy your fall like days Nancy!
    Jenna

    1. Oh the Barbie is a hoot for sure!
We are enjoying the fall feels for sure. Thank you Jenna for stopping in. Have a fabulous week my friend.

  9. Nancy, what a wonderful update! I can feel the chill and smell the steaming coffee. It’s going to be another hot one here today so I especially enjoyed the sights and sounds out your way! Thank you for sharing this. Have a great week my friend! ❤️

    1. Hello Sandra…Glad you could stop in. Believe it or not it warmed back up and we needed to put on our air conditioner.

I thank you for your lovely words. Have a lovely week my friend!

  10. Fall is definitely in the air with lows of 50 degrees. It sounds like your mornings are quite delightful. I’m sure that Tonya the Traffic Controller gets peoples attention and brings a few smiles along with her message. 😊
