Tuesday Tidbits #9

Mexican Hot Chocolate

Have you ever had Mexican Hot Chocolate? It’s rich and delicious! When there’s a chill in the air I make us some of the heavenly treat.

First you need a mug that can hold a lot!😊

A wooden Molinillo is also needed. It’s a wooden whisk.

Don’t forget the Mexican Chocolate.

I purchased mine at our local grocery store. It can also be found online.

Take one chocolate tablet…

and place it in a sandwich bag and break it up into pieces. I use my rolling pin.

Heat 4 cups of milk in a pot. When it’s warm add ALL the broken up chocolate.

Stir constantly…

Pour this rich deliciousness into a mug and enjoy! Add some cookies and you have the perfect treat!

I like to pour the rest in my handmade pitcher that keeps it hot until I want more.

  1. I might have to try this. I am not a big chocoholic, just once in a while…I also enjoy viewing the surroundings, so adorable is the setting…just missing is seeing YOU sipping it..xoxoxo sister

  2. Yum! I’ve never seen a molinillo – so beautiful! And I’m reading this right before I head to my pottery class. Your pitcher is gorgeous too. I’m a total newbie at pottery, but I’d like to be able to make something like that – eventually. Thanks for another great post!

    1. Isn’t that pitcher gorgeous! It was handmade by someone… I thrifted it! I love a bargain.

I can’t wait to see pictures of your pottery. Enjoy the process … you will love it!

Thank you so much for your kind words!

    1. This type is not spicy but I am sure there are some that are. It’s very rich!

      The Molinillos are great!

      Thanks for visiting!

  3. I made mexican hot chocolate one time, but it no way was as authentic as yours!!! That chocolate looks out of this world!! This is making my mouth water!

  4. Ooo yes! This is so good! I admit that I often cheat by using my favorite dark chocolate. Your photos are very inviting. Makes me want to make some hot chocolate to go with my daughter’s breakfast. I think I’m going to do just that!
