It’s Hot!

And when it’s Hot we Escape the Heat.

Hello and Welcome In!

I have showed you this winery before. But it’s worth showing it to you again.

One of their vineyards.

Page Springs Cellars in Cornville, AZ is quite lovely! So when it’s hot in the Valley… a ride north can cool you down in more ways then one.

We enjoyed their Vidal Blanc outside under the shade of a Sycamore Tree and above the banks of Oak Creek.

Oak Creek

Vineyards in this area have similar characteristics as that of the French Rhine of France so some of Page Cellars wines have a French influence.

Vineyards dot the high desert landscape.

During Covid 19 we are not quite ready to dine indoors and why? …if we have these stunning views to look at. And what’s also nice… is that you can bring your own picnic to go with your purchased wine.

I love the green!
Are they full or empty?

Another added feature was their outdoor order window.

Ordering outside still gives you peace of mind during this pandemic.

It was quiet… picnic tables were set apart for social distancing and it was a nice way to enjoy some time away from home.

Speaking of home… our backyard cacti are still blooming!

What a beautiful bloom!
The slight purple on there is quite stunning!
This cactus had 43 blooms on it at one time!

I wish for all of you to have a Happy Memorial Weekend! Let us not forget why we celebrate this weekend. Please remember those who gave it their all for our freedom!

Thanks so much for the visit. Happy Memorial Day!

  1. You always find the best places for a picnic. That creek looks so refreshing! We’re not ready to eat inside a restaurant, either and still do takeout only. I’m so ready to go to one of our outdoor restaurants with the seating spaced out and eat the meal there! Enjoy your weekend!

    1. I know what you mean… we are not ready for inside dining. This was perfect… lots of area to spread out.
Enjoy your weekend too my friend!

  2. Good morning Nancy. What a beautiful winery and place to picnic. A day outing is so good for the mind and spirit these days.

Your cacti have been amazing. I guess I never knew how gorgeous their blooms could be.

Wishing you and Sweet Man a lovely Memorial Day Weekend ♥️🇺🇸💙

    1. Good Morning Pam! Thank you so much for your kind words.
You are so right… getting out into nature is good for our mind and spirit!
So glad you enjoyed the cacti flowers this spring! They have been glorious!
I want you and Butch and your beautiful family to have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

  3. I’ve heard about the wineries in that area, but we never take the time to go there. Have to do that next winter for sure.

  4. The vineyard is quite lovely and set up for a safe outdoor return to community activity with enough distancing, for sure, Nance. I wouldn’t be ready for inside dining yet, either.

    1. There are a lot of us that feel that same way.
I’m glad you enjoyed the winery right along with us!
Wishing you and your dear wife a beautiful Memorial Day Weekend!

  5. Nance, it looks like so much fun! How wonderful to have a picnic with such beauty surrounding you. Your patriotic vignette and outdoor blooms are beautiful! Happy Memorial Day Weekend, sweet friend!

    1. It’s a beautiful place. And it sure was good to get out of the house and enjoy the view.
      Happy Holiday Weekend to you!

  6. I’ve only been to Paige Spring Cellars once and really enjoyed it. I’d love to visit in the fall when the vines are covered in grapes. Enjoy your weekend and try and stay cool 😎

    1. Just got back from a walk… should have left a little earlier in the morning. It was starting to heat up.

Yes I would enjoy getting there in the fall too… and seeing grapes on the vines is always a treat. They were planting a new vineyard…more grapes… more wine!
Happy Memorial Day weekend to you and Al!

  7. What a lovely spot to enjoy some time outdoors, and while you’re hot, we’ve just experienced our coldest May day for almost a century. That was Saturday, and it’s now (very) early Monday morning and already colder and we’ve still got a week before Winter officially starts ❄️❄️brrr. At the very least, your lovely photos made me feel warm 🥰 Happy Memorial Day Nancy 🇺🇸

    1. ‘almost a century’ should have read ‘over a century’ – the previous recorded May day that was colder was in 1907.

    2. Brrr… Do you get snow in your area?

Thanks so much for the Holiday Wishes! And thanks so much for coming along on our winery visit. Enjoy your weekend!

      1. You’re welcome Nancy. And no, we don’t get snow here. Our state might get a little dusting now and then, but that’s in the southern highlands region – a 3-4 hour drive from where we live.

  8. Hello there Nancy. Glad you enjoyed Page Springs Winery. Glad to know that they are practicing social distancing.
The cacti in your yard are simply amazing. I’ve wild flowers and willow trees blooming, and we stir fried home grown peas yesterday.
All my best to you. Stay safe.

    1. Welcome In JoHanna! It’s always so good to hear from you. This winery is not too far away from you.

Spring in the desert is always beautiful to see and I bet your yard with wild flowers and willows is a lovely sight!

Glad for the visit and you stay well too!

      1. Yes, Page Springs Winery is just down the road, and it’s a real mixed bag up here as far as this social distancing…or even people believing there is a problem…and I am so happy to hear Page Springs Winery is open for business smartly.
Oh my backyard is intoxicating right now.
Always happy to hear from you. You and Sweet Man stay safe.

  9. We don’t visit wineries since I am highly allergic to sulfites. But it always looks like such fun. Are your cactus in pots all right when you head east for the summer? I only have two very small cactus gardens that I take with us in the MH when we travel. I’d love to have more cactus in pots around the pool but didn’t know if they would survive two months when we are gone. Are you heading Lake Erie this summer?

    1. We have quite a few cacti in pots. I do put them in the shade when we head to the LakeHouse.

This winery is quite pretty with its views and they have a delicious menu. A place like this could be enjoyed without drinking their wine.

So happy for the visit and stay well my friend.

  10. Your cacti are so beautiful!! Truly blessed to be around such beauty … your outings are always the best… continue to enjoy life and live to the fullest.

    1. We do love getting out into nature! Just yesterday we went kayaking. So fun!
Thanks for enjoying and stay well my friend!

  11. What beautiful photos. I had never heard of Page Springs so I looked it up on the map. It is not that far from the Grand Canyon, so when I visit there next it looks like a fun detour.
