Tuesday Tidbits #363 Mid February Fun

Hello Friends!

I sure hope your Valentine’s Day was spent doing something you love. We all deserve that. We had dinner at home and spent time together. It was lovely.

Wow, Tuesday has arrived again, and February is already halfway through! It’s been a lively month for me. I just checked my calendar and realized I’ll be hosting Book Club this week! I just finished a fun craft night here a few days ago. It’s all good. Having friends around truly makes everything brighter.

Galentine’s Day Craft Night

Speaking of craft night! We had such a wonderful evening filled with fun, delicious food, and lots of laughter. We even enjoyed creating a few crafts together!

I had sweet and savory treats for everyone.

The heart (above left) was made with Pillsbury crescent dough triangles and filled with cream cheese and raspberry preserves. I sprinkled it with powdered sugar after I took the picture. Many IG influencers were sharing the recipe and a video.

I also made cream puffs frosted with chocolate frosting or Nutella. The puffed pastry tarts were filled with a savory Jarlsburg Cheese dip that I purchased at the grocery store. We had ham sliders too, so we had plenty to eat along with wine. We all gathered outside and ate al fresco. It was a lovely evening.

After we ate we came in and made our paper hearts.

Our friend taught us how to make this. It took 5 sheets of red 8×11 paper. There are plenty of ideas on Pinterest as well.

I hung mine in the She Shed.

We also made this heart garland.

The Craft Girls!

One of the craft gals gave me the following vintage Valentine. She is such a dear friend. The Valentine was dated 1910 on the back. It’s 116 years old! Wow!💜

Morning Coffee Invitation

On Valentine’s Day morning, I had the lovely chance to visit a sweet lady’s house for coffee and treats. We met a few years ago, and since then, some of my friends have enjoyed having coffee with her a few times a month. She kindly invited me to join as well. Her name is Esther, and she will be turning 100 this coming November!

Look how pretty her table was!

Meet Esther. She was making sure her lights were on.

Esther is as sharp as a tack. Lives alone but her daughter lives close by and checks in on her quite often. Another friend of Esther’s arrived with heart-shaped donuts. She was 92 years old and also had a keen mind. I want to be like them when I grow up!

It’s quite interesting how Esther and I share some things in common. She once lived in a Pittsburgh suburb where I was born, and her niece lives just a street away from our summer home! Small world!

Spring Has Sprung

Spring has arrived a bit early here in the desert.

I believe this is a Sweet Acacia tree.

This is the Sweet Acacia Tree.

The Texas Mountain Laurel is in full bloom.

The Bougainvillea are enjoying a winter of mild temperatures. No freezes or frosts this past winter for us.

The Brittlebush is blooming everywhere!

Penstemon flowers.
A pink fairy duster.

And last but not least. My neighbor is having a re-bloom of Narcissus!

🍃🤍🌼🤍🍃

I know there are quite a few of you longing for Spring. It has been a long, cold summer for many. We were just in Pennsylvania and experienced the unending snow. I pray Spring comes soon for you.

The above flowers were taken on a neighborhood walk. I can walk about 1.5 miles. I am trying to add more duration each day. It’s been 12 weeks since hip replacement surgery and I am doing very well. No pain whatsoever! And I am NOT limping. Lol!

Ask Nancy #2

This is a new feature I have added to my Tuesday Tidbits: I ask myself a question.

What has been Your Favorite Trip? What Made it Great?

I’m often asked about my favorite trip, but the truth is I don’t have just one. Some stole my breath, others soothed my soul, and a few wrapped me in the joy of family.

When the kids were young, we went to Disney World a few times and then stayed at Siesta Beach, Florida, a few times as well. We went with friends who had kids the same age as ours.

Another trip with the kids was a month-long trip from Cleveland, Ohio to out West. We took the northern route out and visited Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, Yellowstone, the Tetons, the Grand Canyon and all of Utah’s National Parks. We visited family in California and then came home the southern route and visited family in Texas. The kids were 15 and 9. They remember it well and have their own stories to tell.

Sweet Man and I have taken many road trips, which often involve many U-turns. Those U-turns always turn into an adventure. The latest road trip was this past summer, when we traveled to North Dakota, our much-needed 50th state! There were a few U-Turns in that trip too. You can read about our trip HERE!

We traveled with Sweet Man’s sister and brother-in-law.

He and I have been fortunate to travel abroad together, and every trip has been wonderful in its own way. We especially enjoy Transatlantic cruises, stopping in a variety of countries along the way before spending additional time exploring on our own. These journeys have introduced us to incredible places and even more incredible people — many of whom we’ve toured with and now call friends.

I’ve shared all of our adventures here on the blog. If you’d like to follow along, you can find our trips — both foreign and domestic — listed in the sidebar.

I personally loved Bavaria, Germany. We stayed in the quaint village of Oberammergau, which was nestled in the Bavarian Alps.

We stayed here. A bed and breakfast.

And we visited many castles. Below is one of them.

How about you. Do you have a favorite trip? Do you enjoy traveling?

Thank You!

As I wrap up today’s Tuesday Tidbits, I just want to say thank you for following along and sharing these little moments with me.

I’m so grateful you’re here.

Wishing you a beautiful week ahead, and I’ll see you next Tuesday. 💕

    1. What made our 50-state goal even more fun was that The Fargo, North Dakota visitor center had certificates for us and even a t shirt for all of us. It was such a joyful celebration!
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the week ahead!

  1. What a wonderful post, whetting my appetite with all the things you shared! A fantastic Galentine craft day (loved the food you shared and the crafty projects were such fun!); tea with Esther, who sounds amazing, and spring blooms (giving us a preview of what might SOMEDAY come to us! I loved seeing your travel photos, too, and hearing the spots you most enjoyed. For me it was (as it always is!) to England and our last trip took us to various spots in the countryside with a road trip with our Brit friends. I love the landmarks but always long to see where the “real people” live and work! Have a wonderful week!

    1. We stayed with friends in the English countryside, and I enjoyed the English gardens. So beautiful! Thank you for all the love! Happy Tuesday!

  2. Nancy, Your Galentine’s Day Craft Night looks like it was such fun from the treats and paper hearts. You all look so festive in your pink and red! Love seeing signs of spring in your neck of the woods…so beautiful and different from our east coast with the Texas Mountain Laurel and Pink Fairy Duster. So glad to hear you’re doing well after your hip replacement and able to walk more each day! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.❤️

    1. I am happy too! In fact, I just chatted with someone about snowshoeing next winter! Lol!
Spring is quite early this year. I am happy about that! Thanks for all the love!
      Enjoy your Tuesday.

  3. Nancy, this post is chock-full of sweetness and love. From your creative craft ideas to the colorful flower photos, and all those beautiful smiling faces, you have celebrated February well. Asking about a favorite vacation destination is like asking to pick a favorite child. It can’t be done. However, Bavaria would be high on my list as well.

    1. Oh yes, I remember the Bavarian Alps so well. And I agree, it can not be done. I really can not choose a favorite. I need to hop over to your blog and see what you have been up to.
      Happy Tuesday!

  4. So much lovely sweetness, Nancy! From the Galantine event with those wonderful crafts to the desserts and the amazing flowers, so much fun to read and gawk and the lovely images! Thanks for joining both my challenges! Save some flowers in AZ for me, I’m dying to see some!

  5. Beautiful pics Nancy…and your craft night looked so fun. The ladies all looked great in their Valentine colors of pink and red. Great job on your paper heart(s) and you put it in a perfect place in your she shed. What a delight 100 year old Esther is as well as her 92 year old friend. Golly, there is hope for us table stylists getting a little long in the tooth. 😂 LOL.So glad you are getting out and about…I know that helps in getting back to ‘normal’….whatever normal is. Hang in there buddyroe! You are on the downhill slide. 🥰

    1. Oh, that I am! I am doing very well!
And yes. Wasn’t her table gorgeous? I loved it.
Thanks for all the love sweet friend. Happy Tuesday!

  6. Good morning Nancy! Oh my goodness you have been a busy lady! Loved all of your craft and treat inspirations, the lovely flora photos…still snowy here…and how fun it is to visit Bavaria this morning. Thinking of Bavarian Cream doughnuts now…
Your new question section is great, as is the picture of you at the end of this post!!! Just loved meeting your dear friend Esther! Thanks for adding lots fun to this morning!

  7. I LOVE that galentine craft! It sounds like such a fun night and they all turned out looking so lovely too. All your flowers are such a pretty reminder that spring will be here soon(ish). I don’t think I could ever pick a favorite trip either! We’ve been so lucky to have had so many fabulous ones. Top of my list includes WDW with and without the kids, Glacier national park, Hawaii with the whole family, Acadia National Park, Quebec.

  8. Nancy, this is a beautiful post of so many fun things! Esther is definitely amazing and her slightly younger friend! Your party turned out wonderful. How I loved all the flowers blooming in your Arizona garden. Like you said, it is hard for me to choose a favorite place in all of our travels. I would return to almost all of them if given the chance! Happy Week my friend!

  9. This was such a good read! I loved hearing about your Valentine´s craft event with friends and hearing about your get togethers with amazing young at heart women! The Valentine you were gifted is so sweet! I enjoyed seeing the BEAUTIFUL flowers in your neck of the woods and hearing about your travels. You are so well traveled! My husband is a small business owner and doesn´t earn money unless he works; consequently, we don´t travel extensively. We do mostly short trips and I do some trips on my own with my kids and sister while poor hubby works :(. I did travel to Europe in college and got to spend six weeks in Bavaria at my mom´s cousin´s house. The town was picture perfect- called Holzkirchen. I plan to read a lot of your travel posts :). Have a great day!

    1. How lucky that you got to spend 6 weeks in Bavaria. It’s a beautiful area!
Thanks so much for all the love. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  10. Your Galentine’s Party looked like so much fun. How great to gather with friends for food and fellowship. Add my name to the “I want to be like Miss Esther” Club! Your flower photos are beautiful, and I enjoyed reading about your favorite trips. I’m so happy your walking is coming along well. You have certainly worked at doing all the right things to help the healing.

    1. Thank you!! I have worked hard and am quite pleased with the results.
Our Galentine’s party was a hoot. My cheeks hurt the next day from laughing so much!
Thanks for all the love. And yes, Esther is our mentor!
      ❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️

  11. Nancy, you sure know how to have fun! I can almost hear the laughter at your Galentine’s party. I hope if I live to be 99 I am still as active and sharp as Esther! Your flowers are gorgeous and I enjoyed reading about your favorite trip. Mine has to be our RV trip to Alaska from Georgia. Every day was a WOW day.

    1. Oh the stories you have to share! I kind of remember some of your posts when you were traveling a lot in your RV.
Here’s to being sharp and active at 99!

  12. Hello Friend,
Okay, I want to grow up like Esther too. 🙂
Thank you for sharing your tea time with her.
I loved all the photos today.
One of my favorite trips was heading to Fort Jackson, South Carolina to see our son after 10 weeks of boot camp. It was so fun to be reunited!!! We were able to spend time on base. After his graduation we traveled to Fort Gordon, Georgia. We had time to explore there too before we left him at Fort Gordon.

    1. Oh, how wonderful to reunite with your son after such a long time. What sweet memories for you. Thank you for enjoying my post. Have a wonderful week!

  13. Don’t friends just make life fun, Nancy?! Your food looked so wonderful for your crafting party and the heart was so cute. How fun to be with Esther and her friend. I want to be like that, too!! What an inspiration! I do love seeing your flowers on your walks and I’m so glad you’re doing well. It was also fun to read about your favorite trips. Have a great rest of your week. ❤️

  14. Nancy, such a fun post. Your Galentines party looks amazing. The galentine crafts are so cute. Miss Esther is darling. I have a clogger friend who is 92 also. Love seeing the flowers and trees. Your trips look wonderful. Thanks for sharing at Love Your Creativity. Happy new week.
