We left our Pennsylvania LakeHouse and we are back at our house in the Valley of the Sun, in Arizona.

I had almost forgotten that I decorated for Valentine’s Day. I was a happy girl when I saw that all was ready for my Galentine’s Craft Night! A touch of pink found its way into our décor and even into the kitchen. I also pulled out my Desert Rose collection, which always feels just right at this time of year. 💗
Even my Tea Cart was ready!
Speaking of Galentine’s Day
I am hosting Craft Night this week and decided to call it Galentine’s Craft Night. We will be making 3 dimensional heart cut outs to hang. They will be similar to the 3 dimensional paper snowflakes that are seen on Pinterest. 🩷❤️🩷
In the meantime, I made favors for everyone.
Here is what I used to make the favors.
I folded the heart to look like an envelope.

This is something I want to try to add to my weekly Tuesday Tidbits. One day I hope to put my Blog into a Book. There are companies who do such a thing. My friend Ingrid…Put Her Blog into a Book! Please read here, if you are interested.
I’m going to call this new feature “Ask Nancy.” Each week, I hope to ask—and answer—a question. One day, my blog/book will be something I can hand down to my children. My hope is that they’ll find answers to questions they may have never thought to ask.
So here we go with the first question.
What is one of your fondest Childhood Memories?
I was the youngest of four children, and I was much younger than my siblings. I was ten years younger than my sister, twelve years younger than my brother, and fifteen years younger than my oldest brother. My siblings will tell you I was spoiled—and they’d be right. Not only did my parents spoil me, but my siblings did too.
One of my fondest memories is when I was about 2 or 3 years old. I’m sitting in a high chair of sorts, and there’s a photo of me eating while surrounded by my much older siblings. They’re feeding me, hugging me, and making me laugh—showering me with endless love.
I remember that day. I know in my heart I was so loved! And I want that same kind of love to permeate from me to my family and friends.

Your caricature is cute! And so are the takeaways for your galentines. I checked out your friend’s post on blog books. I made one for each year of my blogging with Blog2print until 2025, whwn they went out of business. I will definitely check out the others, thank you.
I am the youngest of 9, have 8 siblings, the oldest being 14 yrs older. They all say I was spoiled, but most of them talk about how they were tasked with rocking the cradle of the younger ones. Our Christmases were the best! We each claimed our areas in the living room where Santa would drop our gifts. How our parents ever did, I don’t know!

First of all, I’m so glad you didn’t fall! I was a little concerned; it’s been so icy. And what fun to have your house decorated when you returned. I love the idea of a Galentine Craft Day and wish I’d thought of it first. Maybe next year! Your favors are darling and I might make one of those for Rick (he’ll think it’s over the top, but I don’t really care! I’ll have fun with it!)
I’ve done a blog book with Book2Print, which I think is out of commission now. (I did the year of Covid as I thought that would be interesting to look back on — and it is.) I love your idea for the new one and having something like this for your family. I know it will be filled with wonderful thoughts.
As for me, lots of good childhood memories but most are from those summers at the cottage, playing with the cousins day and night and skiing till we ran out of gas!
Growing up on a lake is the best life! This I know.

One of my fondest childhood memories is the cross country road trip my family took from the east coast to California and back when I was 8. I’ve never forgotten all of the amazing places we saw – Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon and more – even though I had to sit in the middle between my two brothers in the back seat.

Such an interesting post Nancy…I started my blog many years ago to keep my family informed and it has been doing the job ever since….but a book sounds even better. Probably my childhood memory most remembered is my Mother, loving me and teaching me how to cook. We spent so many wonderful hours in the kitchen. My siblings are the greatest. My sister was very much like a second Mom to me. She took good care of me a lot of the time.
My oldest brother walked me to school when I was too frightened to go alone. He said he would be right there at the door at the end of the day and not to be scared. I thought he waited outside all day for me. Lol!

Oh, it was a big deal! We decorated shoeboxes or cereal boxes to receive our classmates’ cards. When I was little, it was the box kind. But as I got a little older, I made them.

Funny story about that piece of furniture. We traveled to Maine one summer when the Amish came into the LakeHouse and replaced all the drywall and ceilings in the house. So off we went to Maine in our Honda Mini Van. Well… I was looking for two things—a flat top trunk for a coffee table and a beautiful buffet for my Bourbon. We found them and brought them both back in our Honda Mini Van, which is now long gone.
I love the story behind the piece — so good! It’s a beauty, Nancy Lou – and that’s the best sort of home decorating…curated over time with adventures tied to each fabulous find! Love it! 💝❤️💝

Hi Nancy, I love all your Valentine’s Day decorations. The girls’ party sounds like a fun way to celebrate. I will celebrate with my Mahjongg girlfriends tomorrow during our regular play date—any excuse for Proscesso. I haven’t published my blog in a book, but I do create an annual Shutterfly photo album that captures our trips and family celebrations. It isn’t as wordy as the blog, but it tells our story and helps me recall details of past events. Happy Valentine’s Day.
