Heat Wave
Wow, did you survive the scorching heat this past week? It felt like we were living in an oven with those relentless 90+ degree days and suffocating humidity. Thank goodness for Air Conditioning and our boat!
Baby Shower
Despite the heat, we persevered in planning our baby shower for our darling Daughter-in-law and wonderful son here at the lake this past weekend.
What an outstanding day! Bringing together our friends and family to celebrate the new baby was fantastic! We are thankful for their love and support of the parents-to-be and the baby.
Flowers
The flowers did well in the scorching heat and yesterday’s refreshing rain cooled things down and quenched their thirst!
Pancake
I just had the best time at a girls’ lunch with my friends. We shared a delicious Strawberry Rhubarb Pie pancake that was absolutely scrumptious! It had a wonderful crispy edge that added a delightful crunch with every bite.
Strawberry Moon
From a pancake shaped like a moon to the June full moon, known as the Strawberry Moon. (How do you like that for a segue?) We waited on the lake for it to rise but didn’t see it until we got home, but we did see a lovely sunset over the lake.

Great week! Grandparenting is the best job ever, and I mean that. My 6’2″, 18 year-old grandson just stopped by to give me a hug before leaving town on a trip for a couple of weeks. ❤️ A strawberry rhubarb pancake sounds really interesting and delicious. Your flowers are beautiful, and your rose leaves look a lot better than mine. 🙂

Nancy, baby showers are such a fun way to celebrate with the new parents to be and the grandparents to be! Enjoy every minute with your grandson! They grow up too fast. Your flowers are beautiful. Love all the beautiful flower photos and I’m impressed you know ALL the exact names. Not just “a rose”…but a “Miranda Lambert Rose”!! :o) I also love that pillow! I’m going to be a first-time grandma in about 3 weeks. What a fun sentiment to put on a pillow!

Hi Nancy, This heat has been oppressive, it’s felt more like August than June. Beautiful shots of your flowers…we could use some rain to help water and cool off! Your lake looks so beautiful with that blue water. We’re early morning or late evening boaters, as I’m a heat wimp and afternoons are too hot for me. Love the ‘Ahoy it’s a Boy’ theme for the shower! Nancy I know you will enjoy your newborn….I adore my grandchildren and now I have great grands and it just gets better and better. Your flowers are lovely and I agree, being on the boat helps cool things off. We have been having rain daily but then the heat returns and we have a sauna. The good news is I don’t have to water my pots…the sprinkler system misses a few of them so I let the rain do my everyday job. God’s beauty is all around us. Hugs my friend.

Our temps was around 90F Mon-Fri (when I worked..) it was hot. It’s 73F today and very comfortable, next week is going to be cooler. It’s good, I need to write on my thesis and it is difficult for my brain to work when it’s hot. We don’t have air-condition, it’s not that common here. It’s only recent years that we’ve seen this kind of warm weather.
