Can You Believe It?

Well, actually, it’s now 24,093 days since I have been on this planet Earth!

A few days ago, I celebrated my beautiful birthday with Sweet Man and friends over a wonderful dinner at our place. It was fabulous! Before the dinner gathering, I received heartfelt birthday wishes and expressions of love from everyone who means so much to me. My heart was filled with overflowing joy!

My lovely friends brought the cake for dinner. It was delicious! Did I make any wishes before blowing out the candles? Of course! But I can’t tell you, or they will not come true!

Another year older and another year wiser. While I may not feel wiser just yet, each ache and pain reminds me of the journey I’ve taken all these 24,093 days.

Autumn is Slowly Fading

Do you remember the Hunter’s Moon I posted last week? The above picture and the below picture are the same tree. And after last night’s winds the leaves are almost gone and in our yard!

Even though it is still quite beautiful, the blend of fall colors is merging into one color.

The colors left on the trees will soon disappear, but the blue sky and water will always create a beautiful scene!

This morning we woke up to a crisp 29 degrees and another heavy frost. All my deadheading is done, and I placed the last container of flowers at the curb. Thank goodness I brought my indoor plants back inside.

Eerie? Spooky? Or Cute?

The colder temperatures sometimes cause fog over the lake at this time of year.

Here is another local lake shrouded in fog. At this time of year, the fog can lend an eerie look or a magical scene. It all depends on the season we are in.

What kind of Halloween decorations do you like?

I prefer the joy of Halloween rather than the fear. I find happiness in charming decorations that make me smile.

This lakeside home made me smile with its delightful fall decor around its front porch.

Our tablescape in the dining room makes me happy.

These homemade pumpkins are a delightful addition to our decor.

We saw the above Halloween Display on a country ride. It was fun to see during the day, but I am sure it is eerie at night!

We saw the above display in Carefree, AZ, a few years ago. It was so darn cute!

Nature decorates for fall, showcasing its beauty in every detail. A striking spider web catches my eye, but the moment a large spider appears within it, the scene shifts to something truly spooky and eerie.

I could not end this post with you thinking of spiders! So, how about our cute grandson?

  1. Happy Birthday! Beautiful fall scenes, but that handsome guy in the beautiful sweater takes the prize. What a cutie he is, and I can only imagine how much you enjoy spending time with him. I saw my grandson yesterday, but I had to look up because he’s 6’2″. He still gives his grandma good hugs though. They are always a special joy in your life no matter their age.

  2. Happy Birthday, Nancy! It sounds like you had a wonderful celebration. I think I will be 5 years older than you tomorrow. We are just now seeing color about the time that your color wanes. The morning light is beautiful in your sunroom. We have fog this morning on the ground in our pasture, it casts a beautiful picture. Love your homemade pumpkins, so cute! The happy face on your adorable grandson is the best photo! Grandchildren are our reward for getting older. Happy Tuesday!

  9. Oh, what a treat this post is! Everything is so cozy and cheerful and fun, Nancy. I’m not going to get a single Halloween decoration up this year and fall will have to wait another week (hopefully soon!), so I am living vicariously through your beautiful decor!   11. Happy birthday, again, dear Nancy! I prefer the joy of Halloween or Harvest, too! Your home decor is the opposite of eerie, which is good! But I love your misty lake shots and even the spider and web! Great photography! Our fall is also fading. 😢

    I suppose you’ll begin your annual exodus south soon. We’ll be in AZ in time for Christmas this year and stay til the end of January. I’m sure we’ll connect! Meanwhile, enjoy that grand baby as much as possible! Xoxo!

  12. 29 degrees? Brrr! Sometimes it’s difficult for me to wrap my head around those temps after living in Phoenix full-time for the past three years. I do not miss that cold but do miss the beautiful autumn colors. Sounds like you had a fabulous birthday, and of course, that photo of Caleb in his sweater is too cute for words.😊🍂🎃

  15. Your post shows that there is beauty in every season. We are in our second day of three predicted days of winds. Halloween decorations in the neighborhood and falling leaves are being blown about so that the landscape changes each morning on my walk. Fall decorations are charming; Halloween decorations tend toward the gruesome. Yours are lovely. Happy Birthday! Anytime you want to end your post with that sweet grandbaby will be just fine. It would take a real curmudgeon to look at that sweetheart and not erupt in a smile!

  21. Happy belated birthday and what a beautiful little guy! I wonder how many people got their calculator out to see how old you are. 🤣 The fog over the lake is perfect for this time of the year. That live edge wood table is GORGEOUS as are all of the Halloween decorations. Tomorrow I am posting your turkey roll ups with stuffing inside and gravy. One of my favorite recipes.
