Hello Friends!
Here we are in the second week of January. I hope you had a good week! I’m happy to share that I’ve been able to enjoy a few walks without my cane. I even checked whether the Narcissus were blooming, but unfortunately, they had already finished. Looks like I was a little late.

We have had more rain than usual, and much of nature is blooming earlier than normal.
But I did see these Fairy Dusters blooming just for you!

And I thought you would enjoy this pretty shot of the neighborhood where the Narcissus bloom.

Here is another yard in the same neighborhood.

It feels great to walk on my own. I am proud to say I am very close to graduating from Physical Therapy. I will miss my therapists. They have all been so good and attentive to me.
I do grab my cane when I feel like I might not walk straight or if I’m leaning. That’s mostly at night when my leg gets tired, but I’m happy to say that’s even getting better!
An Adventure Awaits

I’m excited to share that we’re heading into the desert for an adventure next week. It’s been a while since our last trip. I plan to bring two walking sticks for better balance during our outing. I will make sure to take lots of pictures!
Rock and Gem Show
Another opportunity for me to walk quite a bit this past week was for us to attend a Rock Show. It was outside, with rows and rows of vendors. Great exercise and fun!

Comfort Food
It got a bit chilly last week. I tend to cook comfort food when the temperatures dip. How about you?

And Pot Roast! So delicious!

I also made a delicious Ham and Bean soup! While I don’t have a picture to share, I used a tasty mix of beans that I soaked overnight. I added a ham bone with plenty of ham on it from the freezer, and it turned out really fantastic!
Crafting
I am decorating the She Shed for Valentine’s Day. I didn’t get to for Christmas. I’m having so much fun! You all know how much I enjoy playing in there. It’s been great doing what I love! After scrolling Instagram I saw a similar garland so I made this garland for the hutch. (It’s going to look a lot better when I hang it. Please use your imagination.) 🥰 Next week I hope to show you when it’s hanging in the She Shed.

Thank You
Honestly, these past few weeks have been a little challenging when it comes to finding things to post about. Life has slowed down, and being more stationary has meant there isn’t always much to report. So if my recent posts have felt a bit scattered or all over the place, now you know why. I’m giving myself some grace and trusting that once I’m more mobile, everything will begin to flow again. Thank you for hanging in there with me!

Glad you are feeling better and getting out more. Hope you have a good excursion. Take care.
Thank you so much Judy! It was quite the experience. But I made it through! We are looking forward to getting out into the desert. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Happy Tuesday, Nancy. It’s great to read you’ve about ditched the cane. That fairy duster is pretty, one I’ve never seen! I also love amethyst & malachite, gorgeous. I made a ham and bean soup yesterday. I tried a new gourmet cornbread mix but it didnt appeal to either Mr. P or me. Cheesecake Factory bread rolls I’d put in the freezer to the rescue!
Can’t wait to see your she shed. I’m a new follower so it’ll all be new to me. Be sure to show lots of photos. 😉
I shall Rita! I am having a Galentine’s Craft night and the gals will want to see the She Shed at its finest. So I’ll make sure to take many pictures.
Thank you so much for checking in. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
I just love that garland! I might have to do something like that — I know I have lots of decks of cards with missing members! And the red cloth is so darned cute with it. My old bunting is a little tattered, so Hmmmm! I’m glad to hear PT is nearly through and that you are close to ditching the cane, but yes, smart to take it or the sticks with you on your travel. I keep one in the car even though I don’t think I’ve used it for ages because you never know! And your soup reminds me — I need to make some onion soup and I think today is a good day to do it! Have a wonderful week. It sounds good already.
Thank you Jeannie. The garland turned out very cute and it looks darling hanging in the hutch.
Onion soup sounds so good. Enjoy it!
Have a wonderful Tuesday, Jeannie.
Good morning Nancy!
What beautiful and colorful photos for us this week, the Southwest is so interesting and so different from our mountains…
Your adventurous walks are full of interesting subjects…those amethysts…I’ve never seen so many together!! Congratulations on your upcoming PT graduation, you’ve worked diligently! And those walking sticks are great to have always!
We aren’t having as much snow as usual, so we can still walk outside without slipping on the ice.
Keep taking good care and have fun❣️
Isn’t the amethyst beautiful when all grouped together?! Always so fun to see.
Thank you always for enjoying.
It’s going to be great to get out into the desert. I will take lots of pictures!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
This all seems ambitious for a lady with a cane. Good for you! Thanks for sharing your walk. I love seeing interesting landscapes. Good luck with the SheShed decorations and your upcoming trip to the desert.
Ambitious, I am! Thank you!
It was a great week and it’s going to be even a better upcoming week.
Thank you for the visit and have a wonderful Tuesday.
Way to go Nancy…I’ve been there (about 13 years ago) and it took me awhile to get everything moving in the right way. 🥰 I always love your photos and I can’t wait to see your garland in the she shed. What a clever idea. Take it easy on your upcoming trip…I am sure you will. Thanks for your morning walk photos of beautiful neighborhoods. Have a wonderful week.
Thank you Kari! I will be very careful!
How nice of you to send me out into the wilderness with well wishes! Thank you sweet friend.
Enjoy your Tuesday!
I am glad to hear how well you’re progressing, Nance! Very impressive indeed.
Thank you Mr. Mark!
Happy Tuesday!
So glad you are coming along so well! Ditching the cane is a big, well, step!
Thanks Dorothy!!
Enjoy your Tuesday!
All your rain brought some pretty flowers, Nancy! Are Fairy Dusters related the Bottle Brush? Very similar. I’m so glad to read your cane will be gathering dust soon! I wish my Sis-in-law would get her hip replaced. She’s stubborn about it for some reason. I’ve yet to meet anyone who’s had the surgery regret it.
I love your she shed decor and the pics of the stones. Save an amethyst Pic for my February color challenge! Have a wonderful week and continue walking!
Hello Terri! I am not sure if Fairy Dusters and Bottle Brush Flowers are related but I have always wondered if they are. They do resemble each other.
Yes! The cane hopefully will be collecting dust. Lol!
I will save an amethyst picture for your February challenge! I have a friend who flew in a helicopter to the side of Four Peaks Mountain here in AZ to mine some amethyst! How cool is that?
I will keep moving to keep this hip in tip-top shape!
Enjoy your Tuesday and The Flower Hour of yours!
Thank you, Nancy! Whaaatt? Amethyst in the Four Peaks? That is VERY cool! Is there any snow on them this year? Two years ago there was a lovely dusting there.
No snow on them. I just saw Four Peaks yesterday. And yes, there is an Amethyst mine at one of the Peaks. I think they sell that Amethyst in the rough and make it into jewelry in a store in Fountain Hills.
Glad to read that you’re doing so well. After my husband got his hip replacement, he wished he’d had it done years earlier. 🙂 And he’ll always have someone to talk to at TSA if we ever fly again. 🙂
I’ve been relishing the “cold” weather and soup has been on our menu as well. I made split pea soup with the bone and lots of meat from our Christmas ham (shout out to The Pork Shop in Queen Creek, Arizona for their fabulous hams and other meats) and more recently made beef stew.
I love fairy dusters and your neighborhood is lovely. Have fun with your friends. I always enjoy seeing how craftily creative you are, as I’m certainly not.
janet
Hello dear Janet! So good to hear from you!
This weather has brought out the soup recipes. Your split pea soup sounds fabulous. I just bought a bag of split peas and hope to make the same.
And yes, TSA will become new friends when flying! Lol!
✨Happy New Year to you!✨
It is so wonderful that you are doing better! The rock and gem show is something I would have liked to visit. You have som many amazing rocks in AZ.
Yes, AZ does have beautiful rocks and minerals. Thank you for the well wishes, my friend!
Hi Nancy, sorry I am late but being a caregiver is time consuming! I know you had a great one taking care of you. I am so happy that the cane is almost gone and you are doing well. I love seeing the community where you live, it is beautiful! I know you are excited to get back to the desert and taking a trip is good for our well being. The jewelry is gorgeous! Take care my friend!
I have been thinking of you and Butch. I hope he is doing well. And yes, caregiving is tough.
Thank you always for all the love and sweet comments.
So glad you are able to ditch the cane Nancy and are ready for a road trip! Your garland looks darling, I can’t wait to see your she shed decorated for Valentine’s Day! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead and continued progress. ♥
Thank you, Mary! I am looking forward to this week!
Thank you always for your sweet comments.
Have a blessed day!
Nancy, I’m so glad to hear you are doing so well after your surgery! Yay You! Walking without the cane is a great accomplishment! I enjoyed your beautiful images, especially the bee on the fairy dusters. You and I had the same ideas in the kitchen! I recently made Ham and Bean soup this weekend and Pot Roast on Monday. Keep getting better! Enjoy your week!
Great minds think alike!
Thanks for the continued well wishes!
Have a blessed day!
I think your blog has continued on quite well! Even with fewer adventures, you still managed to share some wonderful posts. The items at the Rock Show are beautiful. I am so glad you have (almost) ditched the cane, but are still using it judiciously as needed. Have a wonderful week.
How kind of you to say such nice things. Thank you my friend!
Have a blessed week!
Mother Nature does flowers so well! I’m happy that you continue to heal and work on your walking. Can’t wait to see your completed Valentine’s Day decor! Happy trails!
Thank you so much! I am happy to be doing so well.
Have a great week my friend.
I’m so happy you’re ditching your cane. Good for you! And your Valentine garland is adorable!
Thank you! I am about to make a wreath out of fabric!
Thanks for the sweet comments. Have a wonderful week!
Wow…those pics of the malachite…unbelievable! And I’m so glad to hear you’re really on the move – without your cane already! Woohoo! And although I just had lunch…your pot roast pic has my tummy rumbling. Looks so good…you’re helping me with menu ideas for next week! Sending hugs and love to you, Nancy Lou! XO! 💝😊💝
Thank you Vicki Lou!
I hope you make some delicious comfort dinners in your near future.
Have a wonderful weekend! 🥰✨🥰
Planning on it! Thanks for the inspiration! 🥰❤️🥰
Hi Nancy, I’m so happy how far you’ve come and have ditched the cane! Thank you for your visit to my post as you always leave the sweetest comments. Your comfort food looked so good. I made ham and bean soup recently and just finished it up. Your garland for the she shed is so adorable. I’ll look forward to seeing it all arranged. Have fun on your desert adventure next week!
Hi Kitty! Our desert adventure was fabulous, but I think I may have done a little too much. I am a little tired this morning from it all.
Thanks for enjoying my garland. The She Shed is looking better every time I walk in there!
Thanks for the visit, sweet friend. Have a beautiful weekend.
Congratulations!! I bet you are excited to get out on your hike.
My sister just visited Arizona, she enjoyed it. It was her first time to Arizona. She was in the Tucson area.
The Rock and Gem show photos reminded me of all the shows we took our boys too. They LOVED rocks, gems and agates.
I love the garland. You have got me thinking I should create a Valentine’s garland.
Love, Carla
Thank you, Carla. Yes, you should make a Valentine’s Garland.
And yes… Arizona has lots of beautiful areas to visit.
Thanks for the visit!
How happy you must be to be feeling better. You live in such a beautiful area and that sky and scenery make me want to come back! You are so clever with your garland!
Cheers to your return to solo walking, Nance! Way to stick with the program.
Thank you! 😄
