Trucks! Trucks! Trucks!

Jerome, AZ

A fabulous place to go when visiting Arizona.

I love this little town! It is a fun place to visit because of the artsy boutiques, delicious restaurants, and incredible wineries.

Quite a neat little mountain town! Located on Cleopatra Hill. 5,200 ft. elevation.

And every time I go to Jerome, AZ…

I like it even more!

JeromeTrucks 024 The last time I was there… the fall foliage had just begun.

To start the day in Jerome…  you must shop at a few stores that have  local artists showcasing their pottery, paintings, glassblowing etc. The art is scattered throughout the quaint stores.

Then it’s time for lunch,  I highly recommend The Haunted Hamburger.

My friend and I  started out with Bloody Marys and enjoyed huge delicious burgers!

Jerome was a Mining Town back in the day.

Jerome is known for being the largest Ghost Town in America as well.

Because of that… many proprietors boast of ghosts.

450 people call Jerome home… but who knows how many ghosts call it home?

Jerome Grand Hotel which was a hospital in the early 1900’s had 10,000 people die during it’s time of existence as a hospital.

JeromeTrucks 005 Ghosts are said to haunt The Jerome Grand Hotel. The third floor is said to have the most activity. It is a very popular destination for ghost hunting.

Another ghostly area is…

Gold King Mine Ghost Town

JeromeTrucks 039A great gift shop is inside and a fabulous ghost yard of old buildings, chickens and trucks.

The owner has done a fabulous job making sure this place stays true to it’s name.

I was in heaven when I was able walk around the town and photograph some old trucks! I love the old trucks of the desert!

The tour of the Ghost Yard and Trucks got me all geared up for a local winery tasting.

JeromeTrucks 004 Cellar 433 Winery located on Hull St. in Jerome has Arizona grapes to make their wine! The wine and the cheese board accompaniment was amazing!

But a Jerome visit must end with a quick stop for a cappuccino at The Jerome Grand Hotel.

JeromeTrucks 006Where else can you sit and enjoy a cappuccino where a coffin is displayed??

JeromeTrucks 007Please stop over to see  Ingrid at Live Laugh RV

and read all about her visit to Jerome with her daughter. Her great photos will make you wish you were accompanying them.

Until Next Time  ~Nancy

  1. I’m with you and always enjoy visiting Jerome. There’s so many little things to explore and discover. Thanks for the mention and now I’ll go check out the other blog link 🙂

    1. Hi Ingrid! I also started a collection of wine glasses. Every time I go to Jerome… I visit the glass blowing artist, Tracy, and purchase one of his hand made wine glasses.

      1. I have to say… I didn’t either until I saw it with my own eyes! it’s true… and AZ makes some pretty good wine!

  2. Hi Nancy,

The next time I’m over there (whenever that might be), I’m sure Jerome, AZ will be on my ‘must see’ list. What a gorgeous little town.

  3. Lovely post dear Nancy. It is just the best time to eat and drink your way through a day in Jerome.

Thank you for the reference to my Junkyard post. I linked both my Jerome pieces back to yours.

  4. So much to ponder about all you’ve shared of Jerome, Nancy 🙂 The hospital claiming 10,000 deaths leads me to believe there’s good reason for the hotel that now occupies it to be haunted 😉 And wine in Arizona?? Who knew. Or that Jerome is the largest ghost town (and I’ve never even heard of Jerome!) So thanks for sharing your time spent there – it was fun to learn about and fun to see how much you enjoy it there!

    1. Believe it or not… I like Jerome better then Sedona! Sedona has beautiful red rock formations… but the town is way over priced, crowded and just not my kind of place to have fun in. Jerome has some pretty views, wineries, artists and great boutiques along with great food. AND IT’s HAUNTED! HA HA HA HA

  5. We’ve driven through Jerome twice but never got out of the car and walked around. I’ve read enough blogs now that we will stop and spent some time:) That Bloody Mary looks sooo good and we would love the cappuccino!!

  6. Hello Nancy! We’ve been to Arizona many times, but we have never been to Jerome. You put together such a wonderful photo essay which conveys the wonderful spirit of the place. And what a great tour of all the sights and restaurants you laid out for us. We shall have to visit this very interesting place. Thanks for this interesting and informative post! :))
