Tuesday Tidbits #106 ~A German Pancake

It’s December! Can you believe the end of 2020 is almost here? It’s the last month of this crazy and very upsetting year and I’m glad to see it almost gone. There is HOPE around the corner for all of us. The vaccine is coming and it can’t come soon enough!

Hello Friends and Welcome In.

As I await for Santa to come, I do start to scurry and hurry in preparations for Christmas. But this year for me… it’s going to be different… I’m going to slow it down a bit. I just want to enjoy the simpler things… the Simple Pleasures in life.

Like early mornings… the quiet… the stillness.

But with early mornings comes breakfast! And since I am talking about enjoying the simple things… I’ve got the perfect “simple breakfast recipe” for you!

A German Pancake!

It can be rustic for an everyday breakfast on the farm or elegant for your fancy Christmas Brunch.

Please see Pinterest for many recipes for German Pancake.

It’s just eggs and flour with milk, salt and butter added. That’s pretty SIMPLE folks! I did add sliced apples and sprinkled it all with cinnamon.

It’s so fun to see this yummy goodness puff up. The edges are a bit crispy and the center is a bit eggy. We really enjoyed it with a sprinkle of powdered sugar and some warm Maple syrup.

I hope you give it a try… it’s the perfect way to start off your day. And so simple.

Thank you for stopping by for Breakfast. I hope your December is filled with Simple Pleasures.

    1. Good Morning Mr. Mark… I will be first in line when it’s my turn to get the vaccine. I have a friend who was a volunteer in Moderna’s phase 3 trial. She is 62, a flight attendant and is doing very well. (She did not get the placebo.) She is being followed now to see how long her immunity lasts.

  3. I like the way you’re thinking Nancy, keep it simple and enjoy! I am going to try to do the same, less is more! I am not going to go overboard with decor, and sadly not much entertaining, but I do want to enjoy Christmas as the meaningful experience it was meant to be and embrace the small pleasures like a pancake for breakfast! I’ve never had a German pancake, it sounds wonderful, thank you!

  6. Oh my does that German Pancake look amazing!!!!! You are quite the cook Nancy. Isn’t it nice to be able to slow down and enjoy the Christmas season, after all it’s the days leading up to Christmas are the best part. Also, I wanted to thank you for your funny comment about our Elfie and toilet paper! Your comment went to my spam for some reason.

  7. Mmm. That looks delicious. I haven’t made it in a long time. It used to be a favorite for my kids. When finished baking, we would top it with canned fruit cocktail heated with some ground nutmeg. Your version looks delicious too.
