Hello and Welcome

There’s just something about Arizona! If you have been following me, you know how much I love Arizona, as I share as much of the beloved desert as possible. Many people can’t imagine how I can love the desert. To some, it looks harsh. But these wide open spaces have so much beauty that continues as far as the eye can see. The climate is another attribute as the temperatures here are near perfect until this snowbird flees to another beloved state (Pennsylvania) come summer. Some don’t mind the summer heat… but for me, no matter how arid it is, it still feels like an oven. However, we do miss the Sonoran Desert when we leave.

Today I thought it would be fun to share a round-up of previous posts sharing highlights of this spectacular state. I give many opportunities for you to revisit my earlier posts.

Many think because we live in the desert that, there isn’t any water fun. Arizona has many lakes. A few weeks ago, I mentioned Watson Lake, where we took our family.

Lake Havasu, AZ

There is lots of water recreation on our Arizona lakes. One lake, in particular, is located in the town of Lake Havasu. You can read about our adventure to Lake Havasu here.

Many boaters enjoy this Lake, along with people who want to view Lighthouses. Lake Havasu is known for 25 scaled-down versions of lighthouses from around America. They are spread out all around the lake.

Lake Havasu is the second most visited place in Arizona. The first most visited is the Grand Canyon. People come to Lake Havasu to see the London Bridge. It is the actual London Bridge from England. England sold it to Lake Havasu. Read more about it here.

Sedona, AZ

Our red rocks of Sedona are another tourist attraction. The beautiful landscape of Sedona will take your breath away. Any time of the year is a wonderful time to visit Sedona, but March through May have the perfect temperatures for hiking, and the Spring wildflowers are in bloom.

Jerome, AZ

A great place to visit is the quirky mountain town of Jerome, Arizona-–a historical mining town with lots of personality. It has artsy boutiques, restaurants, and wineries that can fill your day with lots of fun.

Prescott, AZ

Another great town to visit is Prescott, AZ. A town full of antique shops, art galleries, and museums, along with fantastic restaurants, breweries, and historical saloons.

Yavapai County Court House is located in the center of downtown Prescott, AZ.

Outside of town, you will find tall Ponderosa Pines and gorgeous lakes.

Cottonwood, AZ

Cottonwood, AZ, is another delightful town full of unique shops, delicious eateries, and wineries. I often enjoy a girl’s day here as the shopping is quite exciting. Then we finish the day with a great meal and a glass of wine.

A bit out of town are more wineries but my favorite is Page Springs Cellars.

With a glass of wine in your hand, you can walk down the grapevine-covered path to sit by the sparkling Oak Creek at Page Springs Cellars.

Petroglyphs

If you enjoy 4×4 Jeep rides on dirt-covered trails, Arizona is your place! To see the vast beauty of Arizona, we jump in our 4×4 vehicle and go on memorable adventures as often as possible.

On one adventure we came along a wall of Petroglyphs.

Saguaros

Saguaros are my favorite cactus. They are the tallest cactus in Arizona, and they only grow from sea level to 4,000 ft. So they aren’t found everywhere in AZ. Oh, and let’s not forget how to say Saguaro. It is pronounced Sah-WAR-oh. 🌵 Click here to see more.

I hope I gave you a little taste of why we love Arizona. It’s an incredible place to live, with so much to do and see! I wish for all of you to visit number 48 one day soon!

  15. You have taken us on an amazing tour of your favorite Arizona locations. I’ve probably been to all of them except Jereme and Cottonwood. Sunsets in the desert environment always look so special, gorgeous shots, Nancy! Watson Lake is where Marsha and I went paddling last summer. Fun times!

  16. We have been surprised at how much we love it here. There’s a beauty that is undescribable (maybe because I’m not a wordsmith, haha).
    Anyways, we have Cottonwood on our list to go for a blog shoot, and we will have to check out that diner.

    1. Tucson is great as well. We always head that way for the world renowned Tucson Rock and Gem Show in February.
      We enjoyed the area of Arivaca which is south of Tucson and close to the border. A winding beautiful paved road goes through all through the area. There is even a ghost town.

  20. thank you for sharing your wonderful state and we have visited it many times while living in New Mexico. Lake Havasu was always a destination either by car or water (coming down the Colorado from Laughlin) Your beautiful photos make me want to go back “home” to New Mexico and surrounding states.
