Tuesday Tidbits #273 It’s that Time of the Year

Adventure

You are not going to believe this but we are on another adventure!

We are slowly driving across the nation to the Lake House. We did stop in Texas to visit family. While we were there, we saw the Northern Lights! Can you believe it?? Did you see them? Our friends in Pennsylvania saw blues, greens, and purples in the sky this past Friday night.

Our Texas sky had a pink tint to it. If you zoom in, a falling star can be seen.

I’ll happily share a few pictures of our sights as we inch our way to Pennsylvania.

Texas

We saw a kaleidoscope in Kerrville, Texas.

A Texas Sunset.
Texas Flowers

But the biggest surprise for us was to see the last of the Texas Blue Bonnets! We missed the season except for these few!

Texas BlueBonnets
Even though we did not see any on this trip, here are a few from our last trip! Texas Longhorns!

Louisiana

While traversing through Louisiana, we spent our day observing the rhythmic movements of the windshield wipers.

The rain poured down heavily throughout the day!

This is a screenshot of the weather radar as we passed though Louisiana. The arrow is us.

I did manage a picture without a heavy downpour as we left Louisiana and crossed the Mississippi River.

The bridges that cross the Mississippi River from Louisiana.

Mississippi

When we arrived in Vicksburg, Mississippi sweet man surprised me by staying at this beautiful Bed and Breakfast. And the weather improved!

Our stay was delightful in this civil war era home.

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast with 3 other couples here.

Vicksburg National Military Park

We toured the Vicksburg National Military Park. I will share the National Park tour and arrival at the Lake House in the upcoming Tuesday Tidbits.

  1. Good morning, Nancy! Wow, that is a long road trip, how many total miles? It sounds like fun. There is so much to see across our vast landscape. I am so glad you saw the Northern lights! The inn looks charming and a lovely respite from the road. I am guessing you passed through Alabama? Prayers for continued safe travels and I look forward to the next installment of Tidbits!

  2. Nancy, so glad you got to see some Bluebonnets in Texas. We’ve made that drive from Texas to Mississippi. Glad the rain let up when you got to Vicksburg. Wishing you safe travels!

  3. We always enjoyed our visits to the Texas hill country, and it was on our short list of places to settle. That B&B in Mississippi looks like a great place to stay. Hope the weather is more agreeable on the rest of your adventure.

  4. Oh that’s right, this is your cooler weather getaway, Nancy! So glad you caught a glimpse of the glow of the northern lights on your trip. Still hard to believe the northern lights could be seen so far south. We had quite the show in Washington.
My cousin lived in Centerville Texas and that storm has hammered them with flooding and damage. Safe travels, my friend!

  5. Hi Miss Nancy. We missed the glow here due to overcast skies, but I’ve seen so many wonderful photos of the spectacle. How delightful it must be to experience it so far south – wow! One day I hope to witness the colours of an aurora – either in the northern or the southern skies – one day. Happy Tuesday – travel safe.

  6. Oh. You’re having a marvelous trip, Nancy. My husband has always wanted to see the Northern lights so he’s jealous. 😉. Glad to see all’s going well, although we’ll miss you Friday. ❤️

  7. Nancy, it looks like you are having a fun time! We have been to Vicksburg several times. The National Park is a wonderful place to visit. I hope you were able to have dinner at Walnut Hill. That is a favorite place of ours to eat. Enjoy your week sweet friend!

  8. I’m so glad you are headed to your lake house! And I’ll love seeing all the stops along the way. You’re so lucky with your Northern Light experience — all I saw was dark sky — and we really tried! (Others around us saw purple and we’re wondering what’s wrong with us!)

  9. I love traveling vicariously with you! The bed and breakfast in Mississippi is gorgeous! How special that must have been. I didn’t get to see the Northern lights here (sadly!). Your photos are beautiful. Happy travels to the lake house! : )

  10. What a great slow and easy cross country trip–except for the rain! The Mississippi B&B was beautiful! Praying for your safety.

  11. Love the pictures of your cross country journey…thanks for sharing! We were in LA during the northern lights, but had we been back up in Seattle…they got stunning views!! Love all of your pictures! The Baer House Inn is stunning…thanks for sharing!!

  12. A road trip adventure is always fun, at least when the weather is nice. Safe travels to the lake house. Your photos from Texas, especially the blue bonnets, remind me of growing up there and how pretty to see a field of blue bonnets and Indian paintbrush growing together.
