August Memories
It’s been a fantastic August so far. We’ve had family over, and it’s been wonderful! We’ve enjoyed plenty of laughter, fun activities, bingo, boating, tubing, listening to live bands by the lake, and indulging in delicious food, including a Pig Roast at a friend’s place. Sweet Man, and I love making memories with the people we love. These memories last a lifetime! Are you creating unforgettable memories and ensuring that the remainder of your summer is packed with countless activities?

Sunsets
This last week we were blessed with plenty of breathtaking sunsets.

Childhood Memories
The other day, I had the opportunity to share the beautiful places and activities I experienced at the lake, when growing up, with some of our family members who had never been here before. When I was young I thought we lived in a typical place. Everyone had a lake, right? Now I realize this place is not typical, and I had an incredible childhood here. After my few chores were done, I was free to gather with my friends, and we either fished, swam, or boated, which meant water skiing. We even had a place called the Canoe Club to hang out at. Or we could ride our bikes to the penny candy store. In the winter, ice skating was on the lake after a day of sledding. We always had something to do and somewhere to explore. We were never bored. Now I realize how lucky I was! The Good Ole Days! Now that I’m older, I realize we get to pass on the joy of Lake Living to our family! There are always fun times at the Lake!

Summer is Still the Season for Me
With the arrival of mid-August, I do find myself thinking of the summer activities I still hope to experience. I need to Kayak a few more times, enjoy a few more sunsets out on the boat with sweet man, get more bike rides in, have a sister day with My Sister, a gal pals dessert party, and I want to have lunch with a neighbor. I have been craving a pasta dish with fresh tomatoes, which are ripe and ready! Now, I need to make it! These are just a few of the Summer activities I’m excited to do. I’m determined to make the most of this season! I will not let Summer slip away.

Our Garden Flowers
The gardens still look great, but many flowers, such as the Bee Balm, Daisies, and Lilies, are ending. They have all been cut back. Zinnias, coneflowers, black-eyed susans, and hydrangeas are still going strong. The roses in our garden are blooming with vibrant colors once more. It’s impressive to see how my mom’s red roses have continued to bloom for over 50 years.

Before I Go
Here’s another peek!

Lake life is something most of us can just dream about, but your post brings it to life each week. Beautiful flowers with wonderful memories, but that new little guy in your life wins the smile award. Best job ever. 🙂
Thank you, Judy. We are blessed to be able to live here!
Have a wonderful day!
Nancy, you are the queen of summer! Your genuine love of the season is seen in all of the photos. To be able to relive your childhood where you grew up is a blessing. The last photo says it all…JOY.

You are packing in the fun Nancy! My daughter and her husband are building a lake house about 1 1/2 hours away from their house for a weekend getaway place and I know they will make many memories there with their children~ I’m looking forward to going there too! Keep having tons of fun, there is still plenty of summer left! Your mother’s roses are beautiful!

Nancy, what wonderful childhood memories you have from growing up on the lake! You are so lucky to be able to continue enjoying the lake and knowing your kids and grandkids can enjoy it, too. You will have fun watching your new grandson learn about lake living!
We will show him all about it for sure! Thank you so much to stopping by. Happy Tuesday!
Good morning, Nancy! It looks like you are having a most wonderful time this summer. Your lake home looks like a beautiful place to enjoy summer and make lots of memories. All of your summer blooms are so pretty! Enjoy your week, sweet friend!
Thank you so much Shannon! Its been a fabulous summer!
So good to hear from you!
Happy Tuesday!
Everything is beyond amazing in this post, Nancy, from your childhood memories to the ones you’re making now with your new grandchild. Much of my childhood was spent at SoCal beaches and backyard swimming pools. I’m envious of your lake and community and I’m thrilled for you and your family you can enjoy it all. Summer is flying by, but fall is my favorite time of year! Have a wonderful week!
I also enjoy fall since we stay to make sure we see the leaves change.
But summertime here at the lake has my heart!
Thanks so much for all the love! Happy Tuesday!
Way to pack in the summer fun!! I enjoyed reading about all of your great activities. I’m trying hard not to get “trunky” for retirement, so we have more time to play. We’ll just have to be intentional about having as much fun as we can – when we can! Yes, you were very lucky to grow up by that beautiful lake!!! Isn’t it interesting to recall our youthful perspectives? Take care, Nancy and have fun spending those gift cards! :o)
You should have heard me squeal when I won those gift cards!
We are a very active couple and enjoy every moment of retirement! You will, too!
Thanks for all the love! Happy Tuesday!
I love that you are enjoying summer and at the lake…what more could one ask for. I know it has been hot but when I was a kid…we didn’t have refrigerated air conditioning and had to rely on table and window fans and guess what? We survived and thought nothing about it. LOL I couldn’t wait to get outside to play with my friends and family and I don’t recall complaining of the heat of the mid day sun. And the picnics by our lake (which was 5 miles out of town) were so fun. We swam and didn’t worry about anything but having fun, eating and playing games (didn’t have cell phones then so games were actual games)
Thanks for bringing back my childhood memories and showing us your past and present fun times at your lake. Now, I am ready for home cranked ice cream and cake and hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill. Have a great end of summer my friend. Hugs and Blessings.
Kari, you described my childhood as well! We didn’t have air conditioning, so we learned how to cool down in other ways. Swimming was one of them!
Thanks for enjoying my memories and I am thrilled you relived yours as well!
Happy Tuesday!
I love this post, Nancy. Summer is my season too. And like you, I grew up with summers on the lake. You can’t beat that — I always felt a little bad for kids who went to camp! I love that you have family and friends at hand, which makes it great to have good times and good company. The garden looks wonderful and the food even better! Summer — a true haven!
Jeanie you are speaking my language!
I am so happy you have lake memories as well as living the lake life!
Thanks for all the love!
Happy Tuesday my friend!
Such a beautiful joy Nancy! I so enjoy your posts!
Thank you!
It was so nice that you stopped by to tell me so! You made my day!
Happy Tuesday! Come back again new friend.
Yay for you and Sweet Man! You are certainly not letting summer slip away from you!
Amen!
Thanks for the visit!
Thank you for sharing these moments…
I am glad you enjoyed it. 😊
I can’t say it any better than Nancy. Enjoy all those special moments.
Thank you, Bernadette!
Enjoy them all, my friend.
Being a GG really suits you, Miss Nancy 🥰 I was just blogging about you and your Tuesday Tidbits because – well – I’ve taken inspiration from you (again) and made the decision to blog once a week. Honestly, being retired is hard work and I’m drawing the line in the sand so I can have time for all the other things I’m now interested in doing. (Psst . . . I joined the local Women’s Shed.)
I enjoy blogging once a week, but at this point in my retired life, I don’t think I could blog more often during the week. So good for you! I’m glad I can be an inspiration to you. 😄
So you have a woman’s shed? A She Shed? You must tell me more.
Ah. I don’t have a lovely little ‘She Shed’ like you do 🥲 (big sigh). The Women’s Shed is a group of (mostly retired) women who get together to socialise and (at times) learn new skills, but mainly have fun together. I’m looking forward to being a member 😊
Oh, I would like that! 😊
I’m thinking (and hoping) I do too 🥰
Your house on the lake is like a summer vacation. You make the most of all there is to offer. So many gorgeous flowers, water activities, friends and last but not least family!!!!!
Amen to all of that!
Thank you so much for your sweet comments.
