Tuesday Tidbits #311 Friendship and Valentines

Hello and Welcome In

Did your football team win the Super Bowl? We went to a Super Bowl party. Lots of people and lots of food. It was great!

By the time I took this picture, most of the food had disappeared. There was also a dessert table.

This was their backyard. I love how they light up their backyard. So fun!

Friendship

A special homemade card from my sister to me.

I had lunch out with a friend. It was wonderful to just sit (outside!) and enjoy each other’s company.

“It’s not so much what’s on the table that matters, as what’s on the chairs.” ~W.S Gilbert

Isn’t that above quote the truth? Even though our food was delicious, we talked, nibbled, and giggled—and sipped the whole afternoon—girl time at its best.

We both care for each other no matter what chairs we sit on.

Our view as we chatted away.

This guy (a road runner) wanted to be friends. He was not only an eavesdropper but also a poser.

A fine choice.

Flourish Your Friendships

When we first moved to Arizona, I didn’t have any friends. I have made several since, but the friend I had lunch with this past week was my very first friend in Arizona. Finding good friends can be pretty difficult, especially when we are older.

When we are fortunate enough to discover good friends, we must nurture and cherish them. They bring so much joy and support to our lives; we must take the time to help friendships grow and flourish.

I am lucky to have wonderful friends, and I take great pride in our special bond. Even though some of us are far apart, we keep the friendship alive with phone calls and sweet texts. It just goes to show that distance can’t stop us from being close!

My lovely friend put together this gorgeous bouquet for her Galentine’s Party last year!

I feel genuinely grateful daily for the wonderful friends who are always there for me. Their support and kindness mean the world to me.

A Galentine’s Party I had for my beautiful friends. You can see more here.

My Valentine

Another chalkboard made by me.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to think about our special someone. My Sweet Man is my Valentine, and we love keeping things fun and exciting. We make it a tradition to enjoy date nights together, and sometimes, we even have Date Days. It’s all about creating special memories! Just recently, we spent the day in Prescott, AZ. We antiqued at a few spots and then had lunch together.

Prescott, AZ

I love seeing this sign in one of the antique stores.

Another great sign.

Beautiful landscape near Prescott, AZ.

We were so lucky to catch a glimpse of the fantastic herd of Pronghorns that call Prescott Valley home! They are always fun to see.

After all that excitement, it was such a treat to enjoy lunch at Lazy G’s!

Rose Bloom

Our first rose of the season bloomed on our date day. We were thrilled! After a long and scorching summer, we’ve been showering these roses with lots of love and care. It brings us so much joy to see them starting to bloom.

I needed to share it with you.

Happy Valentine’s Day

“I thought love was only true in fairy tales, meant for someone else but not for me…” ~words by Neil Diamond and sung by The Monkees

We are standing under wild Mistletoe.

We wish you all a beautiful Valentine’s Day. Thanks for spending another Tuesday Tidbits with us.

  1. So good! Honestly, you were a photo stylist in another life or former career, right? Love your pics. Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️❤️❤️

    1. I think it all started when I was a young girl, and the only way my Mom could keep me busy was by giving me the big Sears Catalog. I loved looking at all the decor and such. Lol!
By the way, I was an early childhood teacher. I loved being a teacher!
Thank you for all the love today. 🥰

  2. Nancy, Happy Valentine’s week to you! I enjoyed all your Valentine’s in this post. Date nights and Date days are so much fun. Yes, my team won the Super Bowl! I follow college football but usually not the NFL. With several Georgia Bulldogs playing for the Eagles I am now an Eagles fan!

    1. Oh, how fun for you! I, too, follow College football. My Buckeyes won the National Championship! But I am in a family fantasy football league, so I love watching the NFL as well.
Thanks so much for stopping by and showing me lots of love! 🥰

  3. Good friends are such a treasure, and I love that Galentine’s Day is now a “thing” so we can celebrate Valentine’s Day with our good friends as well as our loves on Valentine’s Day! It sounds like you’ve been having a ball with your girlfriends {what’s better than sitting and sipping!} and date days and nights with your husband. I love those old motel signs and all your lovely Valentine’s art Nancy! I hope you have another love filled week, Happy Valentine’s Day!

  4. Happy Valentine’s Day sweet sister. I have enjoyed your whole post today. I relish these so feel like I’m always there with you. Love you

  5. Four of my best pals and I stayed on a text chat while watching the Super Bowl, Nance, and it made the game more fun for sure. Hey, that backyard pool and lunch-side golf course has me yearning for the arrival of nice weather here to the east! Have a good remainder of February in sunny Arizona.

  6. Nancy, I love this post filled with friends, food, and fellowship! Living in the same small city all my life, I am still friends with girls that started first grade with me. I agree it is harder to make friends as we get older. I love the friendships that come from blogging, you being one of them! I am a fan of college football, not so with pro. However, the Eagles have 7 former players from Alabama including Jalen Hurts, so I was excited for them.

I wish you and Sweet Man a lovely Valentine’s Day❤️❤️

    1. It is fun to watch our college players head to the NFL.
Thank you for being my wonderful virtual friend, dear Pam. And thank you for all your sweet comments!

  7. Your post is chalk full of love and sweetness, Nancy! February is a busy food month with the superpower and Valentines Day. Love your roadrunner! I tried to capture one while there but he was too fast! I’m happy to be back in the group text and I agree friends are important! I won’t have any excuses to visit Prescott once our mutual friend moves. Have a wonderful week!

  8. I always think of you on Valentine’s day – oops – on Galantine’s Day 🥰 and this year I’ll be (loving my husband as always, of course) but also having my own mini Galentine’s Day coffee and cake with my lovely friend, Denise.

    1. How sweet is that! Denise is a very lucky gal pal!
I wish I lived closer to come as well! 💜🩷
      Enjoy dear friend!

  9. Your joyful Valentine post is terrific, Nancy. Your joie de vivre is contagious! My dear girlfriend (of over 20 years) and I have coffee (and goodies) together every week. We have such fun and solve all the world’s issues! Man! I’d sure like to add a Road Runner to my bird list! He’s so cute! Your photos, as always, are wonderful as are your Valentine decoration! Happy Valentine’s Day! 💐❤️

    1. How wonderful that you get together with your girlfriend once a week. That is fabulous!
Thank you for all your sweet comments. It’s always so good to hear from you! 🥰

  10. Nancy, so true about friendships and we need them, don’t we? Thank you for your always beautiful photos. I especially love the roadrunner. I miss seeing them from when we lived in New Mexico. Enjoy your warmer weather and your Valentine’s Day with your honey. hugs my friend

  11. What a lovely post this is! And timely — I just had two very long phone calls with my dear gal pals who live far away. Our Valentine/Galentine tradition, even though it’s a couple of days before. You are spot on about the importance of friendships. And your day with your Valentine in Prescott looks absolutely divine. What a grand time you had — and lovely outside, too. Keep celebrating those Valentines!

    1. I am thrilled that you talk with gal pals who live far away. Friends are are biggest supporters.
      Thanks for enjoying this post.
      Happy Trails to You!

  12. I can’t believe we even missed you in Prescott! Isn’t Lazy G’s a fun place to go? You are so right about nourishing our friendships, especially as we get older. I can’t believe you would ever have a hard time making friends. It’s been interesting going to California after being away four years. We have friends I’ve had for 40 years who we can just walk into their home unannounced or even if they aren’t there. then we made new friends at the mobile home park where we stayed for three months. It was a very friendly time. You will have to come visit. 🙂

    1. I am so glad you are enjoying your time in California. And friends for 40 years is just golden! Very special!
Wishing you all the best in your new chapter in life. I will miss you but will be so glad to visit with you here in Blogland!

  13. Thanks for sharing Nancy!! Love your post about friendships, etc. We were blessed to spend our Valentine Day with our Los Angeles grandchildren. My best to you….thanks for sharing!!
