Garden Party With Friends

My lovely friend Mary, who lives right up the street from me, enjoys hosting get-togethers as much as I do. So when she asked me to cohost a small luncheon for ten gals, I said, “Of course.” We came up with the “Garden Party” theme. What a beautiful way to visit with all of our friends.

Finding plants for the centerpieces was easy. Mary found them at our local grocery store. Aren’t they beautiful?

For each place setting we used rattan placemats with Mary’s lovely dishes that were given to her from her husband’s great-aunt.

Each napkin had a small garden tool, a garden pencil, a small faux plant, and a milk chocolate ladybug or bee. All the gals got to take home the cute garden favors on their napkin.

Before we sat at the beautiful tables, we enjoyed sipping Mimosas. It was a perfect start.
Kiwi Salad
Mary and I served a delicious salad of lettuce, sliced red onion, sliced kiwis, chopped pecans, and blue cheese crumbles. The dressing was made of oil, vinegar, lime juice, and orange marmalade, and it had a light citrus flavor.

Sandwiches and Jello Salad
We then passed chicken salad on croissants and a delicious jello salad.

Dessert
The gals then helped themselves to Lemon Tarts and German Cream Cheese Brownies which were served on Mary’s tea cart.

All the ladies were delighted to gather around the tables, catch up, and share some quality time. Why not do it elegantly?
Even the kitchen was decorated for the “Garden Theme.”

Recipes
Thank you for enjoying our garden party. It was so nice of you to come!
Here are the recipes that were used.
The salad recipe came from the Second Round Tea Time at the Masters.

Congratulations on your gorgeous garden party, Nance and Mary. Great recipes.
Thank you Mr. Mark! It was a lovely way to celebrate Spring with friends.
What a lovely party! Every detail was thoughtfully executed.
And so easy to do. Thanks for the love.
Enjoy your Tuesday!
What lovely garden party place settings and food! Do you remember the song by Rick Nelson?
I do remember. We were singing it while we were setting everything up.
Thanks for enjoying it. Enjoy your Tuesday!
I thought that might be the case.
☺️☺️
How delightful Nancy and what fun to have a garden party. Enjoying friends and good food celebrating Spring. Especially like the retro recipes. Thanks for sharing.
Those recipes are so delicious! I especially enjoyed the salad. Such flavor bursting in every bite!
Thank you for the visit dear friend. It’s always so good to hear from you. Happy Tuesday!
Nancy, what a beautiful and fun way to enjoy a day with girlfriends. I love the table settings and the menu sounds delicious. I can’t ever get Jello to set so congratulations on making that!
I am so glad you visited our Garden Party. The jello recipe is delicious. Perhaps try this one, it might set for you. 🙂
You have such a great attitude. Many people complain of how hard and time-consuming entertaining can be. But you show how much joy it brings you! Thanks for sharing your recipes. I love to try NEW-to-me recipes when I can. Have a great day!
Entertaining can be hard, but if you keep in the back of your mind to keep things simple, it can all go well.
I hope you try the recipes. The salad and the jello salad were my favorites.
Thank you for coming to our garden Party!
What a beautiful setting, and I know you and your friends had a great time. It looks casually elegant (is that a thing?). I reminds me of a tea party with a summer flair.
Oh yes! Perfect words for it. Casually Elegant!
Thanks for the love my friend. Enjoy your Tuesday!
What a delightful way to get-together and the food looks fabulous. I’ll try that Kiwi Salad – it seems right up my alley (or is that ‘garden path’ 😂) Sorry I’ve been a bit awol, life has been so hectic since we got back from our trip, but I’m determined to post something tomorrow – or Friday. Have a beautiful Tuesday Miss Nancy 🥰
Well, hello, dear Clare! I know what busy is!
Thanks for enjoying today’s Party.
Once you’ve settled in, I’ll be looking forward to your upcoming post.
Hugs!
Wow, what a spread, Nancy! The song Garden Party is now an ear worm, so thanks, LOL! Beautiful photos of the food and place settings! Thanks for the recipes…do you also have a recipe for chicken salad? It’s my lunch obsession these days (I get a a local grocery store’s deli). Spring looks beautiful in the desert–we’ll see for ourselves in 9 days! Have a wonderful week, my friend!
I cheated on the Chicken Salad. It’s from the deli. But I really love this one and I buy it everytime! So why not share it with others. I think what makes it so tasty is that it has a little bit of dill in it. Just a hint!
Thanks for enjoying our Garden Party my friend! Happy Tuesday!
😆 The only deli near us offers chicken salad all year round. It’s the best.
My favorite is from a deli in Ohio, where I used to live. I have tried to replicate it but can not. I make a pretty good one with rotisserie chicken, dried cranberries, and pecans, but the one from Ohio is peppery, and they use granny smith apples. But there is a secret ingredient in it that I cannot figure out.
Yum! And gorgeous! 🥰❤️🥰
Thank you pretty lady! 🥰
Aww! Right back to you, Nancy Lou! 🥰❤️🥰
🥰🥰🥰
What a beautiful event! I’m sure everyone had a wonderful time — just the table settings are eye candy enough but the menu sounds magnificent!
Hi there, Jeanie. Thank you! It was a delightful day.
