Tuesday Tidbits #323 A Great Beginning

Hello Friends!

Welcome May

We have had another whirlwind week here at Two Trails One Road. From travel to New Mexico to a Derby Party to a small gathering of friends for Cinco de Mayo. It’s been a great beginning for the month of May.

Reserve, New Mexico

Many Elk were seen.

This one was camera-shy.

We had quite the adventure looking for Elk Burgers! It turns out the FDA has some rules that only allow farm-raised Elk on restaurant menus. We finally found a delicious farm-raised Elk Burger after lots of searching and making phone calls. A wonderful establishment in Show Low, AZ served us exactly what we wanted! We did get to see farm raised Elk grazing on a ranch nearby.

The whole area in the Gila National Forest was gorgeous along with the nearby Apache National Forest in Arizona. This was a lovely getaway with friends.

Tall Ponderosa Pines were lovely to see.

The pine scent was incredible!

Kentucky Derby Party

Delicious Cake!

After we returned home from our travels, it was time to prepare for the Kentucky Derby Party. Great fun was had by all even though my horse came in second. It’s always such an exciting two minutes to watch!

Here we are wearing our hats!

There was a great photo booth, so of course, we had to take more pictures.

❤️

❤️

Great fun and great food was had!

Everyone got a betting sheet!

And of course, mint juleps were available.

Cinco de Mayo

Margarita Bar

This day only comes around once a year. Therefore, it must not go by without being celebrated with friends while enjoying homemade guacamole and salsa with chips, taquitos, and margaritas.

My friend brought this delicious Mojito Lime Torte. A lovely ending to a beautiful evening with friends.

Mother’s Day

We will be celebrating Mother’s Day this coming Sunday. I reminisce on this day of my dear Mom and the invaluable lessons I learned from her. I also remember how much I enjoyed sitting at her dinner table chatting about family, recipes, and gardening. Mom would pour coffee, serve her delicious baked goods, and we would sit for hours talking the day away.

On Mother’s Day I too remind myself of what wonderful children we have. We are truly blessed.

I have a special heart pendant that my Mom gave to me. It was her’s and she put my two little boys faces in it and gave it to me when I was a young Mother. I cherish this gift!

Our daughters are wonderful Mothers. We are so proud of how they are raising their daughters. And this is our daughter in loves first Mother’s Day. We are very excited for her special day!

We wish for all Mothers to have a wonderful day. Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank You

That’s all for now. We hope you are enjoying May’s fun activities, gardening, and, hopefully, beautiful weather.

As I always try to convey… we sure do appreciate all of you. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

We are wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what this upcoming week brings to you. And whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings.

    1. Thank you, Judy. I am glad you enjoyed seeing my Mom. She was quite the lady and a remarkable gardener. We still see the beautiful flowers that she planted over 50+ years ago.
Happy May to you, and enjoy your Mother’s Day!

  1. It looks like party central in your world and that’s a fine thing! Love both set-ups, Derby Day and Cinco de Mayo. (I think we had the same horse–mine was second, too! Journalism?) Everything is so pretty. Mother’s Day is usually a little melancholy here. I love that gorgeous locket. What a thoughtful remembrance.

    1. Hello sweet Jeannie. Thank you for all the love and kind comments. It has been a fun start to May. Happy May my friend.

    1. Beth, I am wore out too! You made me giggle. I am so glad I am retired so I can now be busier then I ever was. LOL!
It was a fun week shared with wonderful friends who feel like family.
      Happy Mother’s Day my friend.

  2. Nancy, you had a wonderful week of partying! You and Sweet Man look great. The food looks amazing! My husband and son harvested elk in Montana and New Mexico, elk burgers are delicious! I love seeing a photo of your mom and the locket she gave you…sweet memories! Happy Mother’s Day, my friend!

  3. What a wonderful post full of holiday celebrations and goodness, Nancy! I love the pictures of New Mexico. Those elk! Maybe I’ll see a few in Payson while we’re in AZ. The Kentucky Derby looks like fun! Lovely mint pie, too. I think about all our moms who preceded our entrance to heaven. They taught us well. Enjoy your mother’s day. We’ll arrive in Fountain Hills on Thursday. Xoxo

    1. I will miss you on this trip in to AZ. Elk are definitely in Payson.
      Thanks for all the love.
      Happy Mother’s Day!

  4. I really do love seeing all the adventures that you guys have! Love the scents of the pines as well. 🙂
Wishing you an early Happy Mothers Day!

  5. Initially I thought “Wow, May has only just begun and already you’ve done so much!” Then I looked at the calendar to see it telling me that today is the 7th – already the month is a week old – plenty of time to fill your days with fun as you seem to do (always 🥰) Have a wonderful Mother’s Day, Miss Nancy.

  6. What fun you’ve been having, Nancy, with so many festive parties to enjoy life. The locket is such a treasure from your mom. Don’t we all miss our beloved mothers who are gone but never forgotten?
Happy Mother’s Day to you! 💐

  7. That sounds like such a fun start to the month! Wishing you and your daughters and your daughter in law all a happy Mother’s day.

  8. What fun parties Nancy…we also did the Derby, Cinco de Mayo AND Mother’s Day with family in Kansas. So good food and fellowship. I have to admit, I do NOT care for Elk burgers…altho buffalo is just ok. I grew up eating wild rabbit and love it. LOL
Happy Mother’s Day my friend. The locket is a precious memory…I know you cherish it. Hugs.

  9. Love this. We were at a conference for my hubby’s company and the theme Saturday was kentucky derby. We all dressed up and they even played the final race. So fun.

  10. This post is full of interesting details about your week. Elk burgers for one. I may have had them when we lived in Oregon and everyone and their in-laws hunted something. Chocolate cake is more my style. 🙂 Congratulations to your DIL’s first child and her first Mother’s Day. My mom and I used to talk for hours and hours. I do miss that camaraderie . 🙂 xxx

    1. Thank you, Marsha. We had a lovely weekend and we chatted with our luvies.
