Tuesday Tidbits #339 Can it be True?

Last Week of August?

Is September next week already? I swear I did not blink; it just happened before my eyes! Guess what else is happening? I have begun to embrace the fact that Autumn is almost here.

When Summer Ragwort blooms it tells me the kids are going back to school.

Fall Feels

Are you feeling the gentle shift?

I guess I am ready for Fall candles, spicy chai lattes, and pumpkin treats. Yes, you heard that right. I am giving in! I think it’s because I have seen the tourism slow down here at the lake. The temperature has dropped dramatically, in fact it’s darn right chilly. Then when scrolling Facebook I see my previous students going back to school. Mind you, most of them are headed to college but school is starting! Morning birdsong has given way to crickets chirping. So I have accepted the reality that September is almost here and Autumn is too! Believe it or not, I have a fall candle burning in celebration of it all. 😄

Such a delightful fragrance!

There are plenty of you who are ready for fall. I will say I am enjoying the cooler temperatures. It was an extremely hot summer. This girl is glad to say goodbye to the heat! I had no problem grabbing a jacket this morning to run errands. Let the coziness begin!

Look who else knows Fall is on its way. The Cormorants!

These Cormorants always perch in this tree after a day of fishing. They are migrating birds and they just arrived. They will stay a while.

Almost time to pick the Elderberries. Do you like Elderberry jam?

Sunflowers are the flowers that lead us into fall.

Sunrises are coming alot later.

From our kitchen window.

And our sunsets are much earlier.

Are you ready for Autumn? I believe I am. Is this your season?

Thank You

That’s all I got for you this week. I hope to see you next week in September. In the meantime, I will be savoring every moment. Thank you for taking the time to read another edition of Tuesday Tidbits. It’s always great to have you here. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  1. Beautiful lake photos but you could have posted just the first one, and I would still be smiling. Wow – that is a gorgeous photo. Applause to you for catching it. 🙂 I noticed last night it was dark at 8 p.m. Fall is my least favorite season because of leaf cleanup. Four acres of leaves is a lot, and it seems to take longer each year. I wonder why that is? 🙂 Happy last week of August at the lake, and I’m with you, August arrived and left in the blink of an eye.

    1. Those darn leaves ruin it for everyone!
August came and went with the click of my fingers.
Thanks for enjoying the photos. Enjoy the cooler temps on this lovely Tuesday.

  2. Autumn is probably my favorite season, but I hang onto summer until the bitter end because it’s so short here in Maine. The transition is always so beautiful!

    1. I know what you mean. We relish those little morsels left of summer here too in Pennsylvania. Thanks so much for visiting and spreading kindness.

  3. Yes, summer has passed way too quickly. We had family over for a picnic on Sunday while the weather is still nice enough to enjoy it. My grandkids started school yesterday already! This week we are having very cool temps for still being August – some high temps in the 60’s and lows in the 40’s. It seems fall is here early, so we need to embrace it. A long fall would be nice. I’m not even ready to think about snow.

  4. Nancy, thanks for getting me into a mood for fall with your great photos. I love the first one. It will be a before we get cooler weather here. I’ll have to enjoy your fall colors because we don’t get many leaves changing colors here.

    1. Not sure how the fall colors will be here. Hot and little rain may do something. Who knows? Thanks for enjoying the pictures!
      Happy Tuesday!

  5. Beautiful photos Nancy! It has been a very hot summer in the South too, we’re all ready for a touch of Fall! BTW, I saw pictures on the news of the terrible dust storm in Phoenix~ I’m glad you’re not there, but I’m worried about the part of my family that lives there~ Enjoy these last August days!

  6. No blinking needed this year. Time has raced by! Wonderful words to describe the last bits of summer, Nancy! I love that you write sunflowers lead us into Autumn…perfectly described! I’m sitting on our back deck replying and my yard is full of yellow sunflowers getting heavy with seeds.

When I drove back here from Portland, at least a dozen heavily packed cars driven by college students whizzed by. There are three major universities near Eastern WA. I knew Autumn was near.

No jackets quite yet here, as our heat wave is still on, but a long, extended Autumn sounds delightful to me. I can smell your pumpkin spice candle from here. Now I need to get mine out! Have a lovely week!

    1. Thank you Terri. We live in a college town and the kids have moved in. The local schools started today!
Fall is coming. Enjoy the rest of August and those sunflowers! Happy Tuesday!

  7. Nancy, I am an autumn girl! Our summers are so hot and humid. However, August has been cooler than normal. I love all of your photos, especially the opening one! Happy last days of August!

    1. Good Afternoon, Pam. I know you are an Autumn girl, so I am so glad Autumn is coming. I am really enjoying the cooler temperatures today. They are so refreshing.
Thank you always for your kind words. Happy Tuesday, dear friend.

  8. I’ve definitely noticed the later sunrises and earlier sunsets! Our mornings are quite chilly too but thankfully we still have warm, sunny afternoons. As much as I love fall I’m just not quite ready to say good-bye to summer just yet.

  9. Hello Miss Nancy, and happy Tuesday to you and your Sweet Man. Not quite “spicy chai lattes, and pumpkin treats”, but my favourite candle fragrance is ‘Pumpkin Spiced Latte’. There are other fragrances I like, but I do keep coming back to this one. Our weather has changed too, but although it will be warm today and tomorrow, winter is sending us one last chilly blast across the weekend before one final hooray. I’ll be putting the blankets away before much longer 🥲

    1. Then Spring will come for you! How exciting. The spring candles will be lit. I like lilac.
Thank you so much for the visit. I am always glad to hear from dear Clare.

  10. Of course in Arizona, we can’t wait for fall and winter!! 😁. Can’t say it’s cool yet, though. However, “cooler” counts.

I remain I excited by the pumpkin spice madness. I like it in pumpkin pie and similar things, but not in the entire panoply of life! Not in my coffee or tea, either. 😢

    Lovely photos, as always.

    1. Thank you Janet. Yes, we definitely can have too much pumpkin spice.
So good to hear from you! Enjoy the rest of your week!

  11. Definitely feeling the shift around here…it’s always a sign when the birds are quieter and with the temp at 50 F here in the Chicago area…I needed socks this morning for the first time…in a long time. I’m with you, Nancy Lou. How did we get to almost-September so fast? Wowza! 😜

    1. I know! Way too fast for me. But I do like the cooler weather! It’s time to get cozy! Enjoy the cool weather Vicki Lou! And thank you always for your sweet words! 🥰

  12. The colors of those skies. Gorgeous! And yes, I’m in for autumn! Hopefully not an early snow (since we’re traveling), but I’m excited for autumn temps and autumn foliage. Have a great week, Nancy!

    1. You also had purple fingers? I love hearing that! Me too!
And yes, the cooler weather is refreshing.
Thank you my friend for your visits. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  13. I’m not ready! I feel like we were robbed here in August. It has been quite cold here — today it was 43 when we got up! I love it when it’s high 60s but in September or October, not August! Those are absolutely gorgeous skies in your world! Happy week!

    1. Oh, wow! You are colder than we are. Summer is still here. It’s how we make the best of it. Enjoy your time at your lake!

  14. Signs of fall are starting to pop up in my neck of the woods too. I especially notice the earlier dark because…my larger dog got skunked about a month ago after nightfall. 🦨 I had let him out to do his business, and he got it good! So I have to watch and take him out on a leash before it gets dark.🤦🏼‍♀️

    1. Oh no! I remember when my dog got skunked! Her tail was between her legs for several days. She got it in the face and nose.
I feel for you! Be careful!

  15. Hi Nancy, Beautiful sunrise and sunset! I’m ‘Team Autumn’ as triple digit temps and high humidity makes me cranky. 🍂🍁😊 We’re enjoying some cooler than normal temps this week for August but I’m all about firepit / sweater weather, football and fall flavors. Enjoy these last days of summer. 💛

    1. I have to say I love the cooler weather. The heat was incredible this past summer.
      Thanks for all the love!
      Happy Weekend to You!

  16. Oh Nancy, yes I’m so ready for Fall to arrive, but it’ll be awhile yet here in Texas. I do have sunflowers 🌻 out though and that makes me happy. Your sunrises and sunsets truly are amazing. Happy Labor Day weekend to you in PA!

    My thoughts, too.
