Tuesday Tidbits #237 August Came Knocking

Hello and Welcome!

I’m still savoring the sun-kissed days of summer on the lake. Today the windows and screen doors are open to let the soft breeze reach me as I type. The soft, calming sound of wind chimes soothes me. And then add no rain or humidity! It’s marvelous!

Thinking of those who have had a wet and soggy summer or a very hot and dry summer. Prayers for you all!

Edinboro Lake

When I must run to the store, I shield my eyes and walk straight past all the school supplies!

A perfect spot to read and view the lake. I saw this spot when I was taking a walk.

I’m still cutting flowers from my garden and making arrangements. There’s nothing sweeter than having your own flowers on your table. I decided to make this bouquet in a teapot after seeing Eliza’s Teapot Arrangement .

Hydrangeas, Zinnias, Spearmint, Queen Anne’s Lace, and Pink Sage Sundae Salvia make the bouquet.

Farewell July

July treated Sweet Man and me well. From family gatherings to the 4th of July fun, we are grateful for our blessings. And I finally found “My Dress” for the wedding! That was an accomplishment! So July was very good!

A walk at my favorite lake!

Sunroom Additions

Along with all the July fun and accomplishments, we also spruced up our sunroom. We added a lovely Dental Cabinet along with the new Coffee Table made by Sweet Man. He even painted the wicker chairs as they are not white anymore. He’s pretty darn fabulous! Now I am on the hunt for a new area rug for the room.

We love our new Dental Cabinet.
Sweet Man made our new coffee table!

Welcome In August

So now that August is here, I remind myself to be positive! I look forward to fresh sweet corn from the roadside farm stands.

🌽🌽🌽

We will eat it on the cob but we will also indulge in a Corn Chowder for sure! Summer squash will bring Squash Fritters . Oh, and let’s not forget about the Peaches that will ripen from nearby orchards! Delicious peachy delights will be coming our way such as this Peach Tart!

Along with all the August deliciousness, let’s not “overlook” other kinds of delights. Sunflower Season will be arriving quite soon! I look forward to all those happy flowers across country fields and backyard gardens reaching for the sky.

🍃🌻🍃🌻🍃

August, I promise to welcome you with open arms. I’ll make sure to not “overlook” the simple pleasures that will arrive with the Lazy Days of August.

With August comes our lovely hydrangeas!
My zinnias from seed will bloom in August!
Our shadows get longer in August!

Happy August Friends!

Thank you!

  1. Your photos just sparkle, and the beautiful teapot arrangement is lovely. Your new coffee table makes a real statement and is made so much more special by the craftsman. The cabinet is a unique find and very handsome. That reading spot you found just made me smile and envy those who can sit there and view your beautiful lake. Such beautiful summer views you have both inside and outside – life is good, Miss Nancy. Enjoy August at the lake. 🙂

  2. Summer if flying, isn’t it? Sweet man is pretty talented — that’ a gorgeous table and the dental cabinet was a great find. It looks warm, cozy and so comfortable, yet still light and open — sometimes hard to pull off! That’s a fabulous floral arrangement!

    1. Thank you, Jeannie! We enjoy the sunroom even more now!
And the flowers are blooming so nicely, so why not arrange them in a teapot?
      Happy August!

  3. Love the Nate Berkus quote…and the beautifully dried hydrangeas I noticed in the corner of one pic. I need to become better at that to preserve and enjoy long after the blooming. And…what a table! I love ‘live edge’ furniture and that’s a spectacular piece! Thanks, Nancy. 😘

    1. He really did a fabulous job on it.
And yes, I enjoy drying hydrangeas and pressing flowers in my flower press! Thank you for the love!

  4. Nancy I love your beautiful pics and comments regarding August! I love each new journey of each new month.

I write this as the Captain and I are parked at a lovely marina/campground gazing at the Atlantic ocean….on the other side of our state. As much as we love our gulf of Mexico, this body of water is beautiful too. So much to enjoy of God’s creation.

Your dental cabinet is perfect for your sunroom. I am curious about your wicker chair going from white to stain?? Did SM have to remove the white and start all over with the stain? It matches perfectly with your dental cabinet. Great job! Hugs and Blessings my friend.

    1. Hi Kari! Thanks so much for the love!
The white does not need to be removed. Rustoleum makes wonderful spray paint with the primer already in it. Usually, two cans can cover a chair but sometimes 3. We did find a perfect match!
      Enjoy your vacation! Happy August!

      1. LOL! I hear ya….do you know what color you used? It looks like stain! Beautiful!

  5. Happy August Nancy! Even though our kids start back to school next week, it will still be summer in the South until late September, so I’m not letting go yet! Your flower arrangement in the beautiful teapot is just stunning! There is nothing better than fresh flowers in the house, especially if they come from your garden! The table Sweet Man made is awesome, and your sunroom looks lovely. Enjoy those nice summer breezes, I bet you’re thankful you aren’t in Phoenix right now with the heat they’ve been having!

    1. We are so happy to be here and not in the Phoenix area. Tooooooo hot!
Thank you for the love. I do like how the teapot arrangement came out. Thank you, dear friend!
      Happy August!

  6. Happy Tuesday and first day of August, Nancy. I love the dental cabinet and Sweet Man’s coffee table, both are fabulous. The teapot arrangement is quite lovely and I always enjoy seeing life at the lake through your discerning eye and camera lens! Have a wonder-filled day!

    1. The corn has begun here, and we just had some for lunch. So sweet and tender.
Thank you so much for the visit and enjoying the pictures.
      Enjoy your August, new friend!

  7. Great post! Wow, your teapot arrangement is gorgeous! The very subtle tiny bit of pink in the hydrangeas is perfect! So pretty. Also thanks for the recipe inspiration. I can’t wait to make a fresh peach tart this month! Take care!

  8. Wonderful post perfectly depicting Janet’s photo theme of “overlooked”. Your images look so refreshing as I, along with our desert, do our best not to wither away from the heat. Congratulations on finding ‘the dress’. I look forward to seeing pics of the big event.

    1. Thank you, Ingrid. This was my second challenge! I did Terri’s not too long ago.
I have been thinking about all my friends out there in that heat… praying that it cools down a bit.
And yes… the dress shopping was tricky. But it has been found!
      Thanks for your lovely compliments.
      Happy August!

  9. Nancy, Happy August to you, too! I love your colorful flowers and the teapot arrangement is beautiful. Sweet Man did a great job on the coffee table. Congratulations on finding “the dress”! We just got a cooler filled with Georgia Silver Queen Corn from a local farmer. So delicious! August is usually really hot where I live so I am really grateful for air conditioning!

    1. Thank God for air conditioning! And hallelujah on the Georgia Silver Queen corn! Do you freeze some?
      Thanks for the love!

  10. Your weather sounds wonderful! We are in a heat wave with humidity for sure!
Your teapot arrangement is striking. I love your flowers. Couldn’t be prettier!
SM did a great job on the table for your sunroom and the dental cabinet is definitely a winner!
    Enjoy your week.

  11. What an elegant tea service you have, Nancy. Your arrangement complements it so well! You live in a beautiful place as well. Thanks for linking up!

  12. The sun room redo is very nice. Your new table is fabulous–kudos to your husband! I have spearmint but have never thought of including it in an arrangement; what a great idea!

    1. The spearmint is a lovely green, so I thought it would look so pretty in this arrangement.
Thank you so much for enjoying our new additions to the sunroom.
      Enjoy your August!

    1. Thank you, Jodie!
We love it, and I know you especially like it as well!
Happy August… I hope it starts cooling down for you all!

  13. Nancy, the coffee table is a work of art. And, after reading your August menu, I almost got in the car to come and find a seat at your table.

    1. We would love to have you! The squash fritters are coming soon!
Thank you so much for your sweet comments!
Enjoy your August and all the goodies you will make!

  14. Love this – “The soft, calming sound of wind chimes soothes me”! You are having one very exciting and productive summer and that handmade table soothes my soul – nice work!

    1. This place here at the lake- soothes my soul.
Thank you so much for stopping in. We always enjoy your lovely thoughts.
      Happy August!

  15. The lake and its surroundings are marvellous. The table your husband made I exquisite, WOW! We are about to head out to our favourite lake, Lake Siljan, for the weekend. We’ve rented a cabin to enjoy some fun time together before I start working next week. Wonderful post, and beautiful flower arrangements.

Thank You So Much... for sharing your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts.
