Beautiful Lupines in our neighborhood!

I say it every time, donโ€™t I? Where did the week go? Tuesday has come around again! But Iโ€™m happy because that means you are here. So hereโ€™s to Tuesday!

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

I mentioned that Sweet Man needed to harvest his Rhubarb a few weeks back. Well, he did, and it was a beautiful crop.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie was made! It came out lovely and delicious!

Do you like Rhubarb? I never had it growing up. My Mom must not have liked it because she never made anything with it. I had no idea I enjoyed it until I met Sweet Man. He likes it so much that he planted it in our backyard. He was delighted when we had it after dinner the other night.

Delicious!

There are many recipes on Pinterest for Strawberry Rhubarb pie. I changed things by adding two teaspoons of vanilla to the rhubarb and strawberry mixture and cutting down on the sugar. I used a half cup of sugar and a 1/3 cup of brown sugar. The brown sugar adds more flavor. Corn Starch helps keep it from being runny. Another tip is to use a slotted spoon when putting the strawberry-rhubarb mixture into the pie.

Here is my pie crust recipe. Itโ€™s easier to work with, and the crust comes out flaky. This recipe came from a friendโ€™s Mom. Crisco is the secret!

Lunch With A Friend

It was wonderful to catch up with a friend at a local cafe. This cafe is new, and their Dirty Chai Latte and Avacado Toast were perfect. I enjoy trying new places especially with a dear friend.

Avocado Toast with a fried egg. The toast was sourdough. Yum!
I like the added touch!

Garden Clogs

Arenโ€™t these the cutest?

As soon as these garden clogs arrived, I was a happy girl! It is wet here every morning due to overnight rain or morning dew. I love them! Why did I wait so long? Last week, I read that Terri had gotten a pair, and I told her I was ordering some.

Adorable!

Dog Watch

Last week, I loved letting these two cuties out mid-day.

Pretty things were in my view as we played.

Thank You!

We are hoping for warmer and drier weather this week so we can go boating. What are your plans for this week? Have you made your Summer Bucket List? I checked one thing off my list: to enjoy a small slice of homemade Strawberry Rhubarb Pie! Thank you for stopping by for another Tuesday Tidbits! It’s always nice to hear from you.

My neighborโ€™s First Rose of the season!

We are wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what this upcoming week brings to you. And whatever you have plannedโ€ฆ make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings.

    1. Isnโ€™t it pretty? It’s an oldie and I love to use it when I can!
I need to give you a hug! I hope to see you soon!

    1. The sun is out today! A bit chilly but the sun is out! โ˜€๏ธ Hallelujah!
Thanks for the love! Happy Tuesday!

  1. Nancy, I do like strawberry rhubarb pie and like your mother, mine never made it but my Gma did…on my Dad’s side. Mom did bake homemade dinner rolls every Monday as it was “Wash Day” so she did laundry with a pot of Ham & Beans on the stove and the smell of fresh baked dinner rolls in the oven. She always said it was because she was so busy with laundry that she had to have an easy to make dinner…I would laugh (when I married) and say home made bread of any kind and watching a pot of beans cook was (for me) considered time consuming and a bit difficult. But…to each his own. It is raining here today and has been raining all night long. The weatherman says there could be flooding, so I am keeping an eye out in case I need to tell the Captain to start building an ark as it is supposed to rain all week due to some tropical storm in the Gulf. LOL. I love your garden clogs and I am going to go on-line to see if this is something I can’t live without. Have a great week my friend. And keep on, keeping on.

    1. Thank you, Kari!
Oh, I sure pray you will be safe from flooding.
The garden clogs were found on Amazon. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Thank you so much for your kind words.

  2. Wow, the colorful lupines are gorgeous. I would love a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie, it looks delicious. It is always fun to share lunch with a friend. I love the garden clogs, I need to order those. As always, beautiful lake scenes! Happy Tuesday, Nancy!

    1. Thank you, Pam! I love my garden clogs! You should get some. I found these on Amazon. ๐Ÿ˜‰
As always, thank you for your kind words. Happy Trails to You!

  3. Your pie looks delicious and it’s clear that you’ve settled into the joys of lake life! I can see why — I’m eager to get to the cottage, too. Love the lupines and all the wonderful photos. My bucket list includes a few road trips to destinations not well known to me!

    1. Oh, how fun it is to see and explore new places! And you will do that soon!
Thanks for all your kind words, dear friend. Happy Trails to You!

  4. Loving this post this morning from pie to clogs!!! You are something special sweet sister. I so so so loved the Lupines. Mom always had them and poppies always growing in her English style cottage garden. So beautiful cause I donโ€™t grow either here. They just donโ€™t survive for me! Like mom, Iโ€™m not a huge rhubarb fan but your pie looks scrumptious. I donโ€™t think thereโ€™s a pie I would refuse! I also have clogs but mine are a solid green. Hope you have a blessed and fruitful day. XO XO my dear sweet sister

  5. Hooray for new garden shoes, Nancy! They are adorable and great for those Dewey mornings. I think of you enjoying your summer home when I hear of the ridiculous heat in AZ and Nevada. Enjoy that water time.
But, oh, your pie!! Hans LOVES strawberry rhubarb! We can get rhubarb from the local farmer, I’m just not into baking.
Great post to show off the pastels of the season, Nancy! Hope your weather is keeping you cool. Have a wonderful week!

    1. It’s definitely cool! Unseasonably cool. But a warm-up is coming!
I love these new garden clogs. I got the same brand as you! You could say you were an โ€œInfluencer!โ€
Happy day to you, my friend!

  6. Nancy, I love your clogs! Rhubarb must be something that doesn’t grow in the south because I had never heard of a rhubarb pie until i was an adult. Our daughter’s husband’s family is from the midwest and she learned how to make it after was married. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  7. We discovered rhubarb a few years ago and were pleasantly surprised that they survive the cold winter and pop up and are waiting for us when we return to the mountains. Your strawberry rhubarb pie looks delicious. We get one or two a year out of our potted plant.

  8. Happy Tuesday, Nancy, to you and your Sweet Man. Maybe now I have to make a pie ๐Ÿฅง ๐Ÿฅฐ and your garden clogs are adorable. I recently acquired a pair but they are plain and boring by comparison. (Mind you, they were also very inexpensive, which I why I don’t mind them being boring.) It’s so nice to wear them in the garden and keep my feet dry and (at the moment) also warm because I wear socks in them.

      1. I tried to not wear socks, but that just didn’t work for me, and besides, who’s going to see me looking all daggy in my own back yard? My husband, but he doesn’t care about socks on my feet in my clogs ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. Always love dropping by – you are my first stop on Wednesday mornings ๐Ÿฅฐ

      2. Awe your first stop! I love it!
Whatever works for you is the best!
I wear no-show socks. They do show a little but it works for me. ๐Ÿ˜Š

      3. I’m currently wear tennis socks with mine, but then it is winter and cold and (I guess) I must look like such a dag – but I don’t care. Honestly, Dean is the only person who sees me ๐Ÿคฃ. And your blog has been my first stop on Wednesday mornings since way back when – I’m guessing (again) around the time of – if not just before – the release of TT #1 ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’œ

      4. Awe! I love being your first stop on Wednesdays!

I am sure you look wonderful as always when gardening!
        ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅฐ

  9. I have never cooked or eaten anything rhubarb! Your strawberry pie does look delicious! Cute garden clogs and are those your dogs, you’ve not posted about them? Your neighbor’s rose is beautiful! I hope you have a lovely week doing what you love~
    Jenna

    1. Thank you Jenna!
The dogs are not mine but they belong to a dear friend of mine. Thanks for all the love. I hope you try Strawberry Rhubarb Pie one day.

  10. Nancy, your pie looks both beautiful and delicious! I would love to have a piece right now. The avocado toast looks yummy, too! I love your new garden clogs. The floral pattern is pretty! Have a wonderful week, sweet friend!

  11. We are the same with rhubard. I never really even heard much of it until my husband asked if I ever made a strawberry rhubarb pie. What?! I love it now too, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. And yes, I love the new clogs. lol. life is good. My favorite image was the birdhouse…today. So pretty.

  12. Today I asked my husband to pick up strawberries from the fruit stand so I can make my granddaughter her strawberry rhubarb annual pie and they are done. I waited too long because of my kitchen remodel. Now I will have him check the grocery store, they are always so sour and white inside but maybe I can get one made anyway. I always look forward to your pictures Nancy, your yard is gorgeous. I hope you were able to get out boating.
