Tuesday Tidbits #366 Cactus Blooms and a Blog Break

Hello Friends. Here in the Sonoran Desert, the Cacti are starting to bloom. It’s a bit early for them, but the desert has warmed up quicker than usual this year. Believe it or not, this past February we had a few days where it was in the 90’s. It was reported that we had never experienced such high temperatures in February before.

I thought I would share what our desert blooms look like. They truly are remarkable.

Argentine Cactus. These blooms only last 12-24 hours.

Of course, I had to share our beloved saguaros. They bloom so beautifully. They are often adorned with what many consider a crown of flowers on their arms.

Ask Nancy

Did you love your career?

Yes! I sure did! I was an Early Childhood Teacher for 22+ years. I enjoyed every part of it. The kids were adorable.

Being an early childhood teacher was one of the great joys of my life. I loved watching little minds grow and seeing the excitement in their eyes when they discovered something new.

I had fun and they had fun. The perfect combination.

With that being said. I also love being retired. Life has been good to me!

Thank You

The desert always has a way of surprising us with beauty.

Cactus flowers remind us that beauty can appear in the most unexpected places.

Thank you for joining me for another Tuesday Tidbits and for spending a little time here with me.

Blog Break

I’m taking a little break from the blog for the rest of March, but I’m looking forward to returning in April.

I Wish All of you a Lovely First Day of Spring, and may all the Spring Flowers Bloom Beautifully for You!

  3. I didn’t know you had been a teacher. With all your creative ideas they must have loved you! It’s so nice to see the dessert flowers. We always think of it as fairly monochromatic but these are anything but! Enjoy your break!

  4. You beautifully showed the astonishing beauty of the desert in bloom, Nancy. I think God gave cacti those stunning flowers to offset all those thorns! 🙂 As you mention, the beauty if often transient, but while it’s there, it’s stunning. Have a marvelous week, my friend.

  5. Beautiful photos Nancy! There were many flowers I hadn’t seen before.
Wishing you a wonderful Spring and break❣️🌿🌷🌿

  6. Hello Friend,
Oh I just love the desert in bloom. We had the opportunity to experience spring in the desert at Torrey Pines State Park in California.

  7. Nancy, the blooms are stunning. I always had in my mind that the desert was not very colorful. How wrong I have been! Enjoy your blog break my friend!

  8. Oh Nancy, the cacti remind me of New Mexico and all our beautiful cacti….we had all blooming colors just as you in Arizona do. BTW have you ever seen the purple prickly pear cacti? The pads are purple, darker yet brighter purple maybe eggplant color…and the flowers are bright yellow on green stems. So pretty! Cooler weather affects the darkness of the purple. Otherwise the shape is just like the green prickly pear cacti. They were in and about the Albuquerque, Los Cruces area…we used to see them frequently when we lived there. Enjoy your Spring Break. hugs 🥰

  9. Oh my Nancy, what beauty surrounds you!! Thank you for sharing with us. I also enjoyed knowing you were an early childhood teacher. I know that was a fulfilling job! Have a beautiful week!

  10. Thank you for sharing the blooms with us! They are so special.
I think you know that I a also an early childhood teacher, 16 years as certified (and 4 more before that), so you have a few more years under your belt. I so agree with you about how rewarding it is. I love being there when the children discover “new truths” in their world.

Thank You So Much... for sharing your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts.
