Tuesday Tidbits #376 A Milestone, When a Community Comes Together and Simple Joys of Summer

Hello!

That was a long title! But it was a busy week again!

🪵🪵🪵🪵🪵🪵

It all started with a project that sounded like a good idea at the time—cutting down a tree. The tree is half gone, and today I am feeling every aching muscle. I am not getting old… just older! The tree is only half gone because I didn’t want to overwhelm the sanitation workers. The rest of it will come down this upcoming week. The hard part is done. Now, where is the Ibuprofen?

Edinboro Lantern Festival

On a much more relaxing note, we attended the 2nd annual Edinboro Lantern Festival at the lake. What a fun event! Friends of ours organize this event. It is so much fun to see the community come together and enjoy the surroundings!

Plus, everyone can enjoy s’mores, or have delicious food from a food truck!

A smokeless fire pit was close by.

Plenty of Food!

There was face painting for the kids and flower crowns for anyone who wanted one.

Prelit flower crowns with my bestie!

Even an Eagle joined us.

As darkness came, hundreds of lanterns were released. At first, they hugged the shore as the wind kept bringing them in. But eventually they floated out, creating a beautiful sight. What made it even more special was knowing that the proceeds from the event support our local food pantry. It was one of those community gatherings that reminds you how much good can happen when people come together. So good for the soul. And after the event a few wonderful people gathered up all the lanterns so they didn’t litter the lake.

Boat Is In

We also got the boat back in the water this week. A few days later we stopped by to take it out for a ride and discovered a surprise—a duck had laid two eggs in our boat! I made sure to get the eggs to shore near a female Mallard. She looked at me like… what? I already have two!

After that craziness, we headed out for a lovely ride on the lake and enjoyed one of those peaceful summer afternoons that we love.

A Milestone for Me

This showed up in my WordPress Notifications!

Thank You!

And finally, I reached a milestone that completely caught me by surprise—100,000 blog views! Considering I only post once a week, I think that’s pretty good. More than the number itself, I appreciate all of you who stop by, read, comment, and share in our adventures. This little blog started as a way to chronicle life, and it continues because of the wonderful people who follow along.

The tree may have left me sore, and I groan when I get up from a chair. Still, this week also reminded me how wonderful life can be—good friends, fun community events, unexpected surprises, quiet moments on the water, and friends from all over the world who visit this little corner of Blogworld.

Life is busy, sometimes exhausting, but filled with simple joys! Thanks for enjoying another Tuesday Tidbits.

    1. Ya know Judy, my hip replacement is 6 months post op. My Quads were screaming! But much better now.
I am hoping for rain today. The gardens need it!
Thanks so much for the visit. Happy Gardening my friend!

  1. What an enjoyable read! I loved reading about the lantern festival. My town is called Springboro which gets shortened to Boro so I loved seeing your picture of the lit BORO sign! Just like home for me except our little Boro has no lake near it :(. The lighted flower garlands are so pretty as are the women wearing them :). Boat season sounds wonderful and congrats to 100,000 views!

    1. Thank Maria for all your lovely comments. So you are a BORO too. I love it! Enjoy your Tuesday! And thank you for always stopping by. 🥰

  2. The lantern festival is beautiful and looks like such fun. I’m glad they have people that get the lanterns out of the water after — I was worried about that environmentally but I should have guessed from the beginning you all had that well under control! The photos are delightful. That’s a huge week but (apart from the tree issue!) a fun one. I’m loving your sweet ducks! Have a wonderful weekend and new week!

    1. Oh yes, last year, many Lakeside residents were very concerned about the lanterns becoming litter. But several people with boats work on them at night to bring them in. The next day, a few people walked along the shore and went back out on the boats to make sure every single one of them was gathered. Last year, the charity received over $10,000.00! We are hoping the Food Pantry received close to that this year. And how about those duck eggs?? 😃 Thank you always for your lovely comments. Enjoy your Tuesday!

  3. Nancy, I envy your energy and cutting down a tree. Been there done that and don’t want to do any of it again. I remember my late husband and I building lots of barbed wire (5 strand) fencing when we lived in N.M. We would start out early in the day and build til we couldn’t see in the early evening. I agree we just feel a little older these days. I always enjoy seeing your community’s lantern festival…what a wonderful cause….and you and your bestie look so happy with your lighted head bands. What fun! Congrats on your milestone…you did good girl. Happy Tuesday.

  4. Nancy, reading about you cutting down a tree just wore me out! Your lantern festival looks like a fun event for a very good cause. Enjoy your summer on the lake. Congratulations on your blogging milestone!

    1. Oh yes indeed. I was going to do a little at a time, but I was in work mode. So I ran with it.
Thanks always for your visits. I am off to roast chick peas! 😄

  5. What an incredibly lovely event, Nancy! Those lanterns floating on the water really touched me! You are blessed to live in such a wonderful, close-knit community. Hope you feel better after all that tree work! Enjoy your boat and congrats on 100K views! Well-deserved, my friend!

    1. Thanks so much, Terri! Yes, our community here is very close-knit. We love it here. I had to join in for Sunday Stills because of the Lantern Festival. I am so glad you enjoyed it all.
      Happy Tuesday, dear friend.

  6. Oh Nancy, as we get older not old, we must be careful chopping down trees🤣 Seriously, I can only imagine how sore you must be. We have had a lot of trees removed this year. They were more than we could handle and we hired younger guys to do it. The Lantern Festival looks like a fabulous community effort. I love seeing them on the lake. You and your bestie look darling in your prelit flower crowns. I just know your charming community will have a wonderful celebration for America’s 250th birthday. That is a great photo of mama mallard and her two ducklings. Have a wonderful week my friend!

    1. Thank you, Pam. This tree is not large, and a young guy would come and take it down lickety-split. But then I would not have a blog post about it! Lol!
Thank you for enjoying our selfie. We thought we were really special in our flower crowns. 😄
Thanks for all the love, sweet friend. Happy Tuesday!

  7. What a ducky post. The lantern festival looks like a lot of fun. Congratulations on the 100K+ views.

      1. I am sorry to hear that, Tim. We are dry too but rain is in the forecast. Praying for rain for you!🙏

  8. Nancy Lou! Just the afternoon treat I’d hoped for…so many things to smile about and nothing put a bigger grin on my face than the gorgeous photo of you and your bestie. Joyfulness in abundance! Sending all my love and hugs to you….appreciate you, my friend! 💝😊💝

      1. Haha! Generally speaking everyone and everything is safer if I don’t wield sharp objects!!!! 😳❤️😳

  9. I feel those aches and pains along with you, Nancy! I told my kids that sometimes I marvel at myself with how I transplant shrubs and dig and put in new ones 😂
The lantern festival looked like a wonderful event and you and your bestie looked adorable in your cute bands.
Happy boating and have a happy week!

    1. Thank you! It is fun! And sometimes I wonder where all my energy has gone? Not like it use to be but I am glad I can still do it.
      Happy week to you!

  10. Thank goodness for Ibuprofen! I can feel those sore muscles, Nancy. I sure ain’t the horse I used to be.😂 Wonderful post, so encouraging! Boating on the lake—how grand!

  11. Nancy, The lantern festival looks like a fun and wonderful event. You look adorable in your flower crown, along with your bestie! We have found duck eggs on our boat before, it was a surprise. Enjoy your boating time…our water is still so low, we need rain! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.❤️

    1. Oh, Mary, I have been thinking about you and your Lake. I’m praying for rain for you! I chatted with some boat friends, and they said they, too, have found duck eggs on their boats. One couple actually let Momma hatch her eggs on their boat! 😳 We could not do that as we had to put the cover on because of the rain coming.
Thank you always for your sweet comments. Have a lovely weekend!

  12. This is great, Nancy. I remember connecting with you shortly around the time of last year’s lantern festival. I love a community like yours. I feel ours is similarly close. Ibuprofen is my friend through gardening season. It feels good to wake up muscles, but sounds like you pace yourself pretty good, even if it’s for someone else’s sake other than your own. Git ‘er done!

    1. Ha! Ha! “Git er done” is my Mantra! Ha! Ha!
I am so happy we have become virtual friends. I love your gardens, tablescapes, vintage love and your blog hops.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend.

Thank You So Much... for sharing your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts.
