Tuesday Tidbits #334 FHHC

Hello and Welcome to Another Tuesday Tidbits!

How was your week? Did it go by as fast as ours?

Our week was FHHC: fun, hot, happy, and costly. 😃

The Red Lilies Survived!

First off, one thing that has made us happy is that the red lilies and black-eyed Susans are blooming! Last summer, the deer ate them all. This year, I sprayed them with deer repellent. Our local nursery recommended a brand that they carry. Knock on wood, so far, so good! I have been known to go out at 10:30 at night in my pajamas to spray these lilies.

Another happy moment was when we felt the cool air from our central air conditioning working!

It was time to replace the air conditioning, and the furnace also needed to be replaced. So we bit the bullet! We are now enjoying cool air again! Hallelujah!

It has been a Costly summer. If you remember, we had our outdoor and indoor electrical boxes replaced at the beginning of summer. Our Lake House is my childhood home, so everything is aging, including me!

Now For the Fun

You are probably wondering what that is.

MOON MAMMOTHS

It is a Moon Mammoth! You don’t see one of those everyday! Unless you live in the Erie, Pennsylvania area.

A while back John Oliver from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver decided to do a full rebrand for a minor league baseball team. Our Erie, Pennsylvania Seawolves WON! For four dates in the 2025 summer season our Erie Seawolves will become the Moon Mammoths!

Why Moon Mammoths? John Oliver heard about an artifact scuba diver named George Moon who found a dinosaur bone in a local lake. It turns out it was a Mammoth bone. (More of the mammoth’s bones from the same lake are displayed in the State Museum of Pennsylvania.) John Oliver heard about the story and asked George Moon if he could use his last name and rebrand the Erie Seawolves the Moon Mammoths for four nights. George said, “Of course!”

Great Game!

We went to the first night of Moon Mammoth’s sold-out debut rebrand game. (Thank you to our dear friend for getting our great seats for the game. We were right behind the dugout!) It was a lot of fun. Below you can see John Oliver #91 as a Bat Boy. It was fun to watch John Oliver immerse himself in the game. He was also an announcer, sold hot dogs and peanuts, and led the fans in the song, Take Me Out to the Ball Game.

John Oliver is running to get a bat.

It was great to see so many fans sporting purple like us, or wearing their fantastic Moon Mammoth attire.

Erie, Pennsylvania got lots of national notoriety, and it brought the whole community together. 💜⚾️

Last but not Least

I wanted to share some lovely flowers I spotted during my bike ride around Lakeside! Flower Therapy is wonderful medicine.

It’s going to heat up again! Stay Cool my friends!
