Tuesday Tidbits #232 Goodbye June

Hello Tuesday Friends!

Can you believe we are saying goodbye to June and are headed for July?

❤️🤍💙

Do you decorate for the Fourth of July? I do not do much. I will add a few flags to the front yard and red, white, and blue pillows to the outdoor chairs.

Patriotic Tablescape

I don’t have much patriotic decor and try to use whatever I have. I did enjoy making a tablescape for the 4th of July.

I added my hand-painted patriotic wine glasses I made a few years ago.

Our dining room is open to the sunroom.
Vintage salt and pepper shakers.

4th of July Dessert

I may be making this delicious dessert again for a 4th of July get together. It was a hit a few years ago when I made it and it sure does look pretty and festive.

❤️🤍💙
July 4th Dessert.

I layered Vanilla Pound cake, vanilla mouse, blueberries and strawberries. I then frosted with cool whip.

The vanilla mousse is made by combining a quart of heavy whipping cream and two small packages of instant vanilla pudding. Whip the mixture until stiff peaks form. Then I just layered the fruit, pound cake, and mousse.

Summer Checklist

You will be happy to know that I went kayaking twice this past week and enjoyed every minute! I ventured into the inlet area of the lake. It’s thick with lily pads and other lake plants. Two huge fish swam by which was exciting! They most likely were carp.

We went boating on our pontoon as well, which is always an adventure. And with that, we saw a loon on the lake. We love seeing loons! It most likely was migrating north and stopped off to get a bite to eat. This lake is a rest area for migrating lake birds, ducks, and geese. The Loon was diving continuously, so I did not get a picture. But here is what a Loon looks like.

I am slowly checking off my Summer Fun activities. This week I want to go to our local Ice Cream place where we drive up and order. It’s a favorite place from my childhood! I plan on a chocolate-covered ice cream cone. What a treat it will be! I’ll make sure to share a picture with you next week!

What’s Blooming

Our gardens are an abundance of joy with ever changing blooms.

Pink Yarrow
Penstemon digitalis ‘Pocahontas’
Miranda Lambert Rose
Lemon Day Lily
Popcorn Drift Rose before it fully blossoms.
Popcorn Drift Rose fully bloomed.
Spiderwort and Columbine.

Little Red roses my mother planted 55+ years ago.

It’s always good to have you stop by to see what’s new.

Thank You!

As I always try to convey… we certainly appreciate all of you. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

We wish all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what this upcoming week brings to you. And whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings.

Our flowers this week are for the Sunday Stills photo challenge – The Glowing Life of Plants.

  1. Absolutely beautiful week in your neighborhood. Your flowers are lovely, and the lake is beautiful. Your table decorations always make me smile because you are an expert at getting them just right. I envision you having a huge pantry full of colorful dishes and linens that you pull out for each holiday. Your dessert also gave me ideas for the coming holiday so thank you. Happy Tuesday!

  2. Here comes July indeed, Nance! Love your photos to close June. We will celebrate with a family night Friday at the baseball game, with fireworks closing the night. And our house’s location provides great views of several firework displays around the area on the Fourth itself!

  3. My mother had a set of those blue dishes when I was a kid. I remember she bought a plate a week at the grocery store until she had 10. Every now and then, I’ll see one at the flea markets and wonder what happened to those dishes.

    1. I bought mine at a garage sale along with a few bigger ones. Some hang in our bedroom around my dresser mirror. Your Mother had great taste!
Wonderful memories for you and Thank you for sharing them with me.

    1. THank you Ingrid. I know you have heard the loons in Wisconsin. They are so beautiful to hear and see.
Enjoy your 4th of July weekend!

  10. I LOVE your 4th of July table décor, Nancy! For someone who doesn’t decorate for it much, your table looks amazing, from the flowers to the details in the glasses and décor. It is weird to be saying goodbye to June already, yikes! Glad to read you got our on your kayak too, looks like fun (I need to get out the SUP and get busy). It’s great to see your post shared for Sunday Stills this week!

    1. I had to read your directions on how to do it! So when I accomplished the sharing I was quite pleased!
I am happy you enjoyed the tablescape. Playing with dishes makes me happy!
Happy 4th of July weekend to you!

  11. I don’t do much for fourth of July either. I love red. Love Blue. White’s fine. But I hate the combo together. Go figure! But your table is so pretty. Love the table runner and flowers — it’s just so darned happy!

  12. I can’t get enough of your beautiful flower pictures. I’m glad you are enjoying the lake. Please save some of your Fourth of July dessert for me, and I’ll join you on getting that ice cream cone.😉

    1. I’m so glad you enjoy the flowers! There’s just something about flower therapy.
Looking forward to the cone. I’ve been so good about watching our sweets, but darn… it’s time for a summertime treat!
      Thanks for stopping by.

  13. What a glorious close to June. Beautiful flowers, kayak ride and trifle. Whats not to love. Have a great beginning to July

    1. Many moons ago, when I was younger and growing up in this adorable town, they shot fireworks over the lake. However, the whole weekend they have events to go to, and then it culminates at a fireworks display down at the University with food trucks, etc. It’s even better!
Although, many private fireworks get displayed over the lake which makes it quite fun on other evenings of the 4th of July weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoying. Have a beautiful 4th of July weekend!

Thank You So Much... for sharing your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts.
