Tuesday Tidbits #233 Flying into July!

Happy 4th of July USA!

❤️🤍💙

Did you have your fireworks display yet? We had ours last night. So fun!

Summer Checklist

Yep, it’s July already! Not only did our week go by fast, but so has the year! Time sure has a way of flying by. We have been trying to put the brakes on Father Time! So with that, we are both trying to slow down and savor the summer.

I have been checking off my Summer Checklist and am enjoying the simple pleasures of summer! I am happy to say I got that chocolate-covered ice cream cone I talked about last week!

Delicious!

We drove up to the Dairy Supreme and ordered just in the nick of time. As we began to enjoy our cool refreshing treats, an entire little league baseball team with their parents and some grandparents, too, pulled in. Like I said, just in the nick of time!

“Life is like an ice cream cone, enjoy it before it melts!” ~unknown

Another summer checklist item I enjoyed was a sunrise from our kitchen window. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be to watch a sunrise. I stopped myself, and as I was holding my morning tea and taking in the transforming colors, I thanked God for another day.

🧡

Porch Sitting is another wonderful Summer Checklist item. It’s an old-fashioned ritual I try to do every morning if time allows. I could sit out there all morning listening to the birds sing, bees buzz by, a chipmunk scurry to the bird feeder, and wave to the neighbors who walk by. A few times, I will hear the clipity-clop of horses pulling an Amish Buggy, then watch them as they pass by.

🍃💛🍃

In the evenings we both sit out front and watch the cars go by but most importantly we notice the flowers in bloom, the butterflies that flutter and the bunnies that say hello. A moment to stop and sit a spell. Relaxing at its best!

“Make your front porch part of your home, and it will make you a part of the world.” ~John Saris

A Lovely Evening

We enjoyed an open house for a new Airbnb here in Edinboro, which is located on the outlet of the lake. The owners of the Airbnb Cottage also own The Cottage Rose, a quaint vintage shop full of home decor, gardening items, and gifts.

Edgewater Escape is the name of this Airbnb which is also on VRBO and it sleeps nine. It’s located on the outlet with a dock and kayaks are provided. They styled this cottage beautifully.

The landscaping at Edgewater Escape is quite lovely.
Kitchen Coziness!
Nice!

Cozy!
One of two bathrooms.

Such a cute idea!

Relax a moment.

A beautiful place to get away to at the Edgewater Escape Cottage.

When leaving the open house we saw this beautiful summer sunset on the outlet.

The reflection!

What’s Blooming?

Our yard is in bloom!
Lots of Bouquets are being made!

Strawberry Season

The local sweet berries are in season and are a treat every time we take a bite! We like them just as they are or in our morning cereal/oatmeal. However, I’ve been known to eat them in a bowl with whipped cream!

A wonderful snack!

Enjoy the rest of your 4th of July if you live in the USA!

🍃❤️🤍💙🍃

Thank You!

We wish all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what this upcoming week brings to you. And whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings.

  1. Happy 4th of July! Beautiful photos that certainly show your beautiful lake life in living color. I hope you have a lovely day. We have rain again, but we’ll make the best of it and enjoy a family get together in spite of it. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much, Judy! Lake living has been wonderful for us.
Hoping the rain stops for you! We have fog this morning…
      Happy Independence Day! ❤️🤍💙

  2. Happy Independence Day! Love all your beautiful images. Porch sitting is one of my favorite pastimes, too! At our house it is on our back deck where I can watch the birds at the feeder and see what is happening in the marsh and in the river.

  3. We went to the ballgame and stayed for the fireworks on Friday night to get in this year’s display, Nance! Happy Fourth to you and Sweet Man.

  4. Happy 4th Nancy! I think you are going to drum up a lot of business for the Edgewater Escape, what a wonderful place to rent and enjoy! I’m with you, porch sitting is the best! I love your jar bouquets and your kitchen strawberries~ Enjoy 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    1. The local strawberries have been amazing this year!
I’m so glad you stopped by!
      Enjoy the 4th!
      ❤️🤍💙

  5. Happy Independence Day, Nancy and Sweet Man! Your simple pleasures are reminders to slow down
and enjoy a moment. The images of the fireworks are beautiful. The Edgewater Escape is beautifully decorated and I am sure it will stay rented. Your blooms are all always amazing! Thank you for the inspiration on a muggy and foggy morning!
    🇺🇸♥️🤍💙🇺🇸

  6. Those local berries look to die for. I can’t find any around here yet. Hopefully tomorrow’s market will have a vendor. And cherries soon. Smart move for the B&B people to have an open house for the locals. It looks wonderful. Enjoy the day!

  7. I really like both those quotes, Nancy. Your post is a beautiful way to remind us to take time to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us, whether the very different beauty of the desert, your lake beauty, or some other view entirely. I do miss porches though. Right now it’s too hot to sit outside almost the entire day but when we move, I plan to use our patios the way you use your porch. Sitting on porches was a great way to meet people and feel community. I think we don’t have enough of that now unless we put forth a great deal of effort. Anyway, happy Fourth and thanks for a lovely post.

    1. You are so right Janet! Front Porches do help us stay connected.
In AZ we have a front porch area where we will sit outside in the evening. We have met two neighbors from around the corner because of that.
I call our porches and patios our outdoor rooms.
      Thank you for visiting today.
      Happy Independence Day! ❤️🤍💙

  8. We enjoy porch time too, while listening the birds and watching he hummers zip around. Hope you’re enjoying some lake and boating time, as well as the blooms, over the Fourth holiday. Happy Independence Day! ♥

  9. Thank you for sharing Nancy, your flowers are beautiful as always, and I love your laid-back attitude. We need to do more of that. It seems we are all caught up and hurry. Hurry, go go and run run around. I have learned to slow down and enjoy every single minute of every day, a severe illness will do that to you! God has provided so much beauty and sunrises and sunsets and the birds and all of his creatures. If we take the time to look at them and appreciate them, it gives us a sense of peace and calmness. Have a wonderful fourth hugs.

  10. We have something else in common, mornings on the porch and a bowl of strawberries with whipped cream, Nancy. We just had a huge patio cover built on our backyard deck, which is where we sit and play. Your photography is lovely. That AirB&B looks cute…love that shoe hat rack. Hope your 4th was fun! ❤️🤍💙

  11. Thanks for the reminder to slow down and smell the flowers. At our family reunion in Taos, NM, our host took us to Arroyo Seco where I had a delicious Mexican chocolate ice cream cone (chocolate with cinnamon and dark chocolate chunks). An unexpected summer pleasure!

  12. I hope you enjoyed you holiday. We went to a barbecue and made it home just before the fireworks started. They seemed to be going off in all directions.

  13. Hugs to you for the photos of Edgewater Escape! I missed the Open House and am grateful to have gotten a “peak-inside” through your camera-lens view!! You always take the best shots!!!

Thank You So Much... for sharing your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts.
