Tuesday Tidbits #329 Short and Sweet

Hello Friends!

I hope all the incredible Fathers had a special weekend! Sweet Man had a restful day.

But earlier in the week it wasn’t quite as restful for us. It all started out with WiFi issues and then the electricity went out! Long story short we had to get our outdoor box replaced along with a brand new indoor panel. Everything was old so it had to go.

I’m grateful for our amazing friends-thanks to them, we didn’t lose any food. The two days without power were challenging, but we managed. The WiFi issues likely stemmed from the electricity problems, so we’ll keep an eye on that. All our electric problems are behind us now.

Too Much Rain

Because of the abundance of rain, all of our Zinnia seeds have drowned. I am disappointed, but these are the woes of gardening. I do see some sunflower seeds coming up, so I am hopeful for them!

The lupines are still growing nicely. They must love the rain.

These blooms are about 12 inches tall.

The flower beds are slowly starting to bloom. It looks like we’re about a week or two behind where we were last year. It’s due to all the rain, lack of sunshine, and the harsh winter. I’ll be cutting bouquets soon. I can always depend on the tiger lilies and lemon lilies to be the first to bloom along with feverfew and loosestrife.

A Feathered Friend

I was so excited to get this picture through our screened window.

We have been lucky to have this large Pileated Woodpecker at our feeder a few times. It’s the first time we have seen one, and it’s been fun to be on the lookout for him. He brings back memories of the childhood cartoon Woody the Woodpecker. If you are my age or older you most likely remember Woody!

Thank You

As the title suggests, this is short and sweet. I admit the recent electrical issues left me feeling quite frazzled, but l’m relieved to say that those challenges are now behind us. Thank you for taking the time to read another edition of Tuesday Tidbits. It’s always great to have you here. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  1. Oh Nancy, this is just the loveliest. A beautiful Father’s day, a magnificent garden, and lovely weather. I’ve never seen a pileated woodpecker — fantastic!

    1. He is so fun and quite large. I sit in the sunroom, just waiting for him to appear!
Thanks for all the love! I need it after this past week.

  2. What a week, Nance. Glad your friends and neighbors lent a helping hand (and fridge space) to keep your food fresh. And here’s to uninterrupted power with your new boxes! Have a good week, it’s going to get hot.

    1. Thank you Mr. Mark. It was actually scary to look inside the outside box. It was charred. Angels were watching over us!
      Happy Tuesday my friend!

  3. As always, your flowers and photos are simply amazing!
You gave me a chuckle at your loss of power leaving you frazzled. Hee hee

Having been without power for days in the past, we know how unsettling that can be to our daily routine. Happy that you were able to get an electrician in so quickly to repair and replace your main panel!
    Have a great week!

  4. Good morning, Nancy. I am glad your electric problems are behind you. Being without power is no fun. We have had so much rain, it seems to be everyday. We had a bad thunderstorm last night and our power flickered several times but didn’t go out. The blooms are gorgeous. I wish we could grow lupines here, I love their color and texture.

I understand being frazzled, take care my friend!

  5. Nancy, I feel your pain in having to deal with electrical issues. So glad you got it resolved quickly and your friends and neighbors helped out with keeping your food fresh. I love the woodpecker and your flowers. I hope this week goes better than last week!

  6. Nancy, I am so sorry about your electric issues. I can fully understand your feelings of being frazzled. I am so glad that you have everything fixed. I feel your pain about all of this rain. I think the whole country is experiencing it. It sure makes gardening a challenge and the insects terrible! The blooms you shared are so pretty. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead, sweet friend!

  7. So sorry about your electrical problems Nancy, NOT fun at all! Your garden blooms are beautiful despite all the rain, the iris and lilies really are breathtaking~

  8. Nancy we can relate to power outages here in hurricane alley Florida and it is certainly not fun but challenging. I love your purple iris and lupines…so pretty. Thank you for all your pretty flower pics. We are needing rain down here as many lawns and shrubs are suffering with the exception of those of us with sprinkler systems. However, somehow the weeds manage to survive and thrive. LOL. Isn’t it sweet to see “old bird friends” come back to your feeders? Our red cardinal pair left with Hurricane Ian and have never returned…. though I look for them daily. Have a better week ahead my friend…Blessings always.

  9. Your post might be short and sweet, but I’m sure your week hasn’t been, Nancy. Issues can (at times) make it feel like time has stood still until normality sets in once again. We have dealt with power issues in the past and recently have had, what I like to call ‘Wifi Woes’, so I empathise with you. Here’s to a better week this week.
(The flowers look amazing 🥰 as always.)

  10. Hi Nancy, So sorry to hear about your electrical problems! I can relate as we lost a panel, well pump and our electronics with a lightning strike a couple of years ago. Being without power is the pits! No matter how many times you walk in a room, you still hit that light switch. 🤭 We had 2 ½ inches of rain in an hour late yesterday, from storms moving through, things are still very swampy here. ⛈️ Love seeing your pretty blooms and Pileated Woodpecker capture. I saw my first one a couple of weeks ago, I was shocked at how HUGE that are! Wishing you a better week ahead. 💗

  11. Nice pictures Nancy. I have not seen a pileated woodpecker though I have heard that they live in our area. Your flowers are beautiful.
Being without power can be stressful but perhaps the outage was a good thing. Better than having an electrical fire. We have a gas-powered generator for when the power goes out. We don’t have to use it very often but when we need it, we sure are thankful we have it.

  12. Aack! Electrical problems! Sorry to hear about that – but yay for rallying so you didn’t need to restock the fridge and freezer. As always, Nancy Lou, your photos make me smile. I may have missed it if you posted photos of your “rhodies”. For reasons I don’t understand, our rhododendrons are healthier this year than ever before. I think of you when I admire their show-stopper blooms! Xo! 🥰

  13. Despite all your electrical woes, you created a beautiful post. I’m glad you have power again, and I hope this week brings calm and even more special moments with nature.

  14. Our power went out on Sunday too here. But only for a few hours, still annoying. Glad yours was taken care of, but 2 days without is tough. And then rain! Congrats on the pilleated woodpecker capture, Nancy! Have a restful weekend!

  15. Nancy, your garden blooms are so vivid and gorgeous! I may need a few lupines in my future! I agree with the statement that the garden is a couple weeks behind last year’s timing. My daily photo memories reflect the same here in my region.
Electrical issues are a major hassle, whether age-related or storm induced. Glad yours are in the rear view mirror now.
    Happy Summer’s Eve!

  16. There are always woes with home ownership! I had my A/C out for a few days and today it is my water! A plumber is here as I am writing. Always something! Your blooms are so pretty and have a Woody that visits my feeder, too. Mine is a different variety but it’s always fun to see him. Have a happy weekend Nancy!

Thank You So Much... for sharing your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts.
