Hello and Welcome to Another Tuesday Tidbits!
How was your week? Did it go by as fast as ours?
Our week was FHHC: fun, hot, happy, and costly. 😃
The Red Lilies Survived!

First off, one thing that has made us happy is that the red lilies and black-eyed Susans are blooming! Last summer, the deer ate them all. This year, I sprayed them with deer repellent. Our local nursery recommended a brand that they carry. Knock on wood, so far, so good! I have been known to go out at 10:30 at night in my pajamas to spray these lilies.

Another happy moment was when we felt the cool air from our central air conditioning working!
It was time to replace the air conditioning, and the furnace also needed to be replaced. So we bit the bullet! We are now enjoying cool air again! Hallelujah!

It has been a Costly summer. If you remember, we had our outdoor and indoor electrical boxes replaced at the beginning of summer. Our Lake House is my childhood home, so everything is aging, including me!
Now For the Fun

You are probably wondering what that is.
MOON MAMMOTHS
It is a Moon Mammoth! You don’t see one of those everyday! Unless you live in the Erie, Pennsylvania area.

A while back John Oliver from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver decided to do a full rebrand for a minor league baseball team. Our Erie, Pennsylvania Seawolves WON! For four dates in the 2025 summer season our Erie Seawolves will become the Moon Mammoths!
Why Moon Mammoths? John Oliver heard about an artifact scuba diver named George Moon who found a dinosaur bone in a local lake. It turns out it was a Mammoth bone. (More of the mammoth’s bones from the same lake are displayed in the State Museum of Pennsylvania.) John Oliver heard about the story and asked George Moon if he could use his last name and rebrand the Erie Seawolves the Moon Mammoths for four nights. George said, “Of course!”

We went to the first night of Moon Mammoth’s sold-out debut rebrand game. (Thank you to our dear friend for getting our great seats for the game. We were right behind the dugout!) It was a lot of fun. Below you can see John Oliver #91 as a Bat Boy. It was fun to watch John Oliver immerse himself in the game. He was also an announcer, sold hot dogs and peanuts, and led the fans in the song, Take Me Out to the Ball Game.

It was great to see so many fans sporting purple like us, or wearing their fantastic Moon Mammoth attire.
Erie, Pennsylvania got lots of national notoriety, and it brought the whole community together. 💜⚾️
Last but not Least
I wanted to share some lovely flowers I spotted during my bike ride around Lakeside! Flower Therapy is wonderful medicine.

Thank You
Thank you for returning every Tuesday to follow along. We appreciate you!

It’s going to heat up again! Stay Cool my friends!
We are wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what this upcoming week brings to you. And whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings.

I always enjoy linking up with these parties.

Cheers to John Oliver, the Moon Mammoths, unmunched red lilies and Black-Eyed Susans and a spiffy new air conditioner. I can see you had a good week, Nance!
We sure did! And Baseball made it even better!
Good morning, Nancy. What fun you had at the game sporting your purple! Yes, the upkeep of our homes is very costly. The cottage AC went out last week and the repairman is supposed to be here today. Love seeing the lilies and the flowers from around your town.
Happy Tuesday, friend and stay cool!
Oh, no! You too? The Heat Dome is going to cover most of the country starting Thursday. I hope you get the Sunshine Cottage repaired by then. I know that is your happy place.
Thanks for all the love. Enjoy your week!
Nancy, I feel your pain about having to replace things in an older home. Glad you have A/C during this heat! I love the baseball team becoming Moon Mammoths for a month! So much fun wearing purple and attending one of the Moon Mammoth baseball games! Stay cool!
Thank you Beth! Well we are feeling cool so that’s what counts!
Thanks for enjoying our purple fun!
Happy Tuesday!
I do get all your comments Beth. 💜
Yikes, no AC is not fun, so glad you got it fixed! The Moon Madness mascot and game sounds like so much fun, I love your purple outfits! Beautiful flowers!
Jenna
Thank you Jenna! Well are now cool and loving all the purple!
Happy Tuesday!
Nancy what fun at the ball game with the Moon Monsters. I love when a community comes together and your friend seemed to be a jack of all trades and you know it had to be fun for him or he would’t have done all those things. I am sure the team showed their appreciation. So sorry about your AC issues…I find that instead of lamenting the fact that every thing goes out at the same time…I have to remember that everything usually was put in at the same time and sadly, now they all go out with a bang…so to speak. Your bicycle ride around the lake had to make you smile. Each time I see a new bloom (with even an old plant) I am happy. Thanks for sharing your flower photos and also that the deer repellant worked…it proves that something works every now and then. Have a glorious week…and stay cool.
Thank you Kari! We are now cool and that’s all that counts! Lol!
Thanks for all the purple love! 💜
Enjoy your Tuesday!
Good morning, Nancy! Your black eyed Susan’s are gorgeous. I feel your pain about the deer. I have tried everything. It is so heartbreaking when you go out in the morning and find your treasured blooms gone. You won’t believe this, but there is a set of twin fawns and the mama deer has been hiding them in my flower beds! I’m glad you have your AC fixed. I know that can be pricey. We have had several pricey repairs too this summer. Wishing you a most beautiful week ahead.
Oh my goodness Shannon, two fawns in your flower beds! Well they must feel safe there and so that must make your heart feel so glad. As long as they don’t eat your flowers, right?
Have a beautiful week my friend!
Love the Moon Mammoth! So fun to watch the local teams, Nancy! Costly is right but so worth the price of comfort. Your blooms look amazing and I totally get what it takes to keep wildlife away from plant life. We’re heading over to Seattle this week, I’m excited…enjoy your week!
Have fun on your getaway!
Thanks for all the love! 💜
What a week! I thought of you this morning—one of our flower beds seems to have escaped the deer. We have a couple of huge hibiscus blooms…love them!
Sending big hugs! 🥰🌸🥰
I am so glad you thought of little ole me! Glad your hibiscus is blooming.
Thanks for the love! 💜
You betcha…take care! 🥰❤️🥰
What a week, Miss Nancy 🥰 I know we would be very sad if our AC packed. I’m a big fan of all those gorgeous flowers, and I feel your frustration with your flowers being eaten. Around here, in the middle of summer, if it’s not the grasshoppers (enormous brown ones) eating everything, I’m discovering fat caterpillars that have been feasting. I’ve one poor plant that cops it every year, but have resigned myself to the fact that while they pick on that plant, they leave the others alone. I love that photo of you and your Sweet Man. It’s always lovely to see your smiling face.
Thank you always Clare for your kindness!
I hope the caterpillar 🐛 stays away!
Always good to hear from you dear friend!
They won’t 🤣 and neither will those grasshoppers go elsewhere. I think it’s because, in our neighbourhood, other gardens are non-existent and they see mine and go “Yum!” 😋
What lovely flowers! We’ve had a few varieties we’ve had to replace entirely when they didn’t grow back after the deer gobbled them up… oddly I’ve never seen deer or track or scat in our yard but we know it’s them! That sounds like a fun night at the ball game. I don’t think I’ve been to a ball game since I was in high school.
Hi Joanne! So good to hear from you! The game was on a cool evening which made it even better. Minor League Ball is so much fun.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a blessed day!
Your post today has reminded me that we haven’t attended any baseball games this summer. Shame! I’ll have to remedy that! You look great in purple!
Awe… thank you!
It’s time To Take You Out to a Ballgame!
When our a/c went out earlier this summer we thought we were going to have to replace it and would replace the furnace at the same time. When the repair man said he could replace the condenser for a couple hundred dollars we were thrilled. The a/c and furnace are about 28 years old and not as efficient as newer ones would be, but we were happy to have some extra time before having to replace them.
I’m glad you got to enjoy your lilies this year. For years I had some that I never got to see flower because the deer ate the tops off. For the past two year, since we fenced in the farm, I have been enjoying their beautiful blossoms.
I am so glad your lilies are blooming! What a treat! Glad to hear your AC is working again. We need it! It’s been a Hot and Humid Summer!
Thank you always for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of your week!
I am tickled by the Moon Mammoths and happy that a “big name” comedian/TV host used his influence for something fun and positive. We need more of that! As always, Nancy, your flowers are beautiful and I’m glad you didn’t have to share all of them with the deer.
Me too!!
Yes the Ball Game was fun and the whole stadium was having fun TOGETHER!
Thanks for the visit. Enjoy the rest of your week!
I am very sorry to say that we share a costly item this summer – replacing furnace and a/c. Ours worked for many years, but biting the bullet to replace them is still tough. Besides the money, it is the time required to even get companies to give us a bid, and then we’ll still be out a month or so. Your lilies are beautiful and hooray for keeping them from the deer salad bar. Hope you’re getting plenty of baby sitting time in. 🙂
Oh my! I feel your pain!
Hope you find your provider.
And yes Baby time has been fun.
Thank you for stopping by my friend!! Enjoy the rest of your week!
Now THAT’s pretty cool — the Moon Mammoths! What a terrific night out! All that and John Oliver in the house, too! We’ll be celebrating part two of Rick’s 70th at our minor league team’s upcoming game — wish they were playing the Moon Mammoths!
Oh you are going to enjoy!! Summer and baseball go hand in hand!!
Thank you for stopping by my friend!
Hi Nancy, When it rains, it pours when it comes to household repairs and everything is more costly these days! Our upstairs AC went out last week and it was 91 degrees upstairs. 🥵 Fortunately, our bedroom is downstairs but it was a strain on the downstairs unit for several days until we could get it serviced…hooray for cool air again! Love seeing all the pretty blooms and Moon Mammoth fun! 🌺⚾ Wishing you a wonderful week, Happy Wednesday. 💗
Hello, dear Mary. AC troubles are not for the faint of heart. I am so glad that yours is now repaired.
Thank you always for your visits and kind words!
Happy Wednesday to you as well!
First time to see a cute purple mammoth. Those flowers are gorgeous!
Thank you! The Purple Mammoth made national news. Thank you so much for the visit!
Oh what fun, Nancy! Yes, flowers are for the soul! 🌻❤️
Indeed! Fun and flowers! That should have been my title! Lol!
Nancy, it’s always such a pleasure to visit your blog and see your Tuesday Tidbits. I’ll be featuring your post tomorrow at The Crazy Little Lovebirds link party. We enjoyed it very much. Thank you for being part of our party. And what a wonderful week you’ve had! Glad to see you can enjoy that cool air again now that your central air conditioning is back on.
Awe… thank you so much! I am so tickled! You just made my day! Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
Now you can escape the summer heat with a fresh blast of AC and enjoy the baseball game! I think the flowers have hit a home run for you this year!
The flowers have brought me overwhelming happiness! Thank-you for stopping by and feeling our cool air! Have a glorious weekend!
We have replace everything in the house (roof-washer-dryer-water heater-every kitchen appliance and a large garage freezer all in about a year. Only the furnace and A/C are left. They didn’t break, we just want 10 years of not worrying about them. I’m glad you are cool again, this heat is awful. What fun the game must have been, watching the game and purple outfits. You two look like you are having a blast!
It was a great game! 💜
Thank you for stopping by and I am glad you are staying cool! Have a wonderful weekend!
Hello Nancy! I am finally catching up on blogs today and It’s been lovely visiting with you here. Thank you for your support with my Dad (and his surgery!). You know the situation all too well 🙂 He’s finally feeling better and we are getting back to a somewhat “normal” routine! There’s still some summer left to enjoy (even though I’m hibernating until the cooler weather!) and I’m looking forward to that. I’m glad you are doing well AND you got your AC fixed!! Yay! Have a great weekend Nancy! I’ll see you on IG! xx
Oh, Danielle, it is so good to hear from you!! I am glad all is well with your Dad and with you. Stay cool, my friend!
You definitely deserve to have some cool air in your house, good thing you got that taken cared of. It is not fun to be miserable inside. The lilies at the top are so beautiful. I hope the rest of your week has been great.
Thank you Maria! It feels good to be cool. The heat has been brutal! I am so happy the lilies are blooming. They are so pretty! Thank you always for your visits!
My pleasure. A good indoor climate is so important. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
The Moon Madness is adorable. You all look fabulous in purple, my husband’s favorite color. Love seeing those lovely flowers. Sorry about your AC going out. My ovens recently went out. We are waiting on parts. I am happy to share those pretty florals at Love Your Creativity while you were biking. Happy Sunday.
Thank you Linda for all your kindness!
I am sorry to hear about your ovens. I hope the parts come quickly!
Thanks so much for everything!
