Monument Valley, Utah
It is nothing what I remembered from a trip 17 years ago.
You see…
when I was there 17 years ago we drove through real fast.
Didn’t even stop for pictures.
So!
I really thought there was NOTHING there. Therefore I told my sweet, sweet man there’s nothing to see.
Well, we booked an overnight because it was a good resting place on our way to Arches National Park.
Boy was I glad we decided to stay over night.
Look at our view…
From the advice of Ingrid from Live Laugh RV
She told me all about Mile Marker 13.
A great place for a photo and it is also called Gump Pass.
It is where Forest Gump stopped running in the movie.
Monument Valley is famous as a backdrop to many movies and Ford and Chevy Truck Commercials.

It was very windy and dusty the day we arrived so…
not many pictures were taken.
The horses stayed still while the dust cleared…
This Hogan was near our hotel. It’s a traditional Navajo Dwelling. I saw so many as we drove through the Navajo Reservation. Some are even modernized but still have the same concept. The door must face towards the East for the rising sun to bring wealth and good fortune.
Our hotel provided a cottage/cabin. So cool!

Onto Arches National Park for my next post.
Until next Time ~Nancy
Spending the night in a stunning location is what traveling is all about. It’s always a joy to take the journey slow. Nice shots 🙂
I wanna go!!!!!! Great shots. Did I mention I wanna go!!!!!
You need to be out here NOW!
Gorgeous shots from your journey!
Thank You kindly, my dear!
Unbelievably beautiful, Nancy! It’s my own country …. yet so foreign to my east-coast Maryland eyes. Thank you for sharing these photos.
I know… a friend who I sent a picture to her via a text said… “is this Mars?” HA HA HA 😀 😀
Great post Nancy. Glad you stopped for a look this time!
Me too!
Love Mile Marker 13. 🙂
Me too! 🙂
I have been wanting to visit Utah since we passed through last summer. We have been many times but never really stopped to smell the cactus flowers. We went to Zion and I was amazed at how many parks there are in the state. I’ll be looking forward to your updates. Thanks for such great pictures and information
Thank You So Much. I could not believe how many parks there are in Utah. We are going to make a trip back to visit others and Zion is one of them. Thank You So Much for stopping over. 🙂
Great story and gorgeous pics!!
Thank You So Much Cheryl. I am so happy you read my blog. It makes my heart smile!
Glad you got the iconic photo while in MV!! You managed to get some beautiful dust/haze free shots:) Love that sunrise and sunset. Just gorgeous.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for popping over to see my MV Pictures. I know how busy you are as YOU are in Arches right now! LOTS TO DO!!
You’re so right about how much we miss when we rush through a place. Gorgeous scenery in your photos and that looks like a great hotel.
Gump Pass, Utah. Lucky you, Nancy. Fantstic.
It was so cooooool!
Ditto what Ingrid said. The joy of traveling is to enjoy the beauty of the land. This joy is enhanced by RVing because we can spend more time in one area to explore the details.
mile marker 13, I see it now!
I wish I’d stayed there at least one night and spent more time there.
Well… there is always another day! But I am sure you will find other more fabulous places to photograph! I will stay tuned!
Absolutely great post. I adore all the space and quiet of this area ..you captured it so well in your photos. Thank you dear Nancy. 🌍
