Good Tuesday to You!

It’s getting close to St. Patrickβs Day. Do you celebrate the day? Do you wear green? Is there a parade in your city?
πβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπ
I like to celebrate with food the week of St. Patrickβs Day. We enjoy Reubens from the local bar and grill but I have made homemade as well. I always make corn beef and Cabbage in the crock pot. Do you add beer to yours when you make it? I usually add a Guinness to mine.

βοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπ

I even made Irish Soda Bread and you can see it here.

βοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπ

Green beer does not have to be your beverage of choice for the green day. I enjoyed making homemade Irish Cream and it was quite tasty. Take a look here.

βοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπ

Yesterday, I made potato pancakes with shredded potatoes. My mother would make a similar recipe. They werenβt Irish but they sure were delicious!

πβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈπβοΈ
I like to make the kitchen festive and I use my Beleek Irish Mugs, honey pot, vase and shamrock tea towels. Green is added throughout the house as well. I guess I like to make each holiday fun and St. Patrickβs Day is always included in the merriment!

When I taught, I had so much fun with the kids on St. Patrickβs Day. I ensured the leprechaun shenanigans happened the minute they entered the room until they left at the end of the day.
Chairs were overturned, small green footprints from spilled green paint were all over the desks, every green toy was pulled off the shelves, green candy was placed in a bowl, the juice was turned green, and green glitter was scattered. I made sure the children built a trap so that they could catch the leprechaun. By the end of the day, we did not catch the leprechaun, but we did get a bucket of candy gold coins! What fun! Along with the shenanigans we learned about Ireland, danced an Irish jig and painted shamrocks with potatoes.

I am so glad we got to visit Ireland a few years ago. You can read about it here.

We loved our visit to Ireland as well. βοΈ Your decorations are lovely as always, and now I’m off to check out a recipe for some soda bread. Thanks for the suggestion.
My pleasure Judy! Top of the Morninβ to ya!
Syracuse has a huge St. Patrickβs parade, Nance! My dear wife Karen and I marched in it together when we worked for the big daily, as part of the big paperβs hot air balloon crew. We had so much fun. Nowadays, though, we prefer to dodge the crowd and watch the local TV stationβs live telecast of the parade in our living room on Saturday. Have a great weekend, my friend.
I would dodge the crowd as well nowadays. But back in the day, I used to go to Cleveland, Ohioβs parade.

Nancy, Delightful post. I am amazed at all you do. You must be extremely organized. Love all your vignettes and Irish recipes. I made Irish soda bread once and mine was not great. Yours looks very good. I’m off to look at your Ireland pictures. Bonnie Morgan
How nice of you to say Bonnie! Thank you!
You should try Maryβs (Home is Where the Boat Is) Soda Bread. It is very good.

What a glorious spread of food and drink. I love Irish soda bread.
Thank you Tim!

I would love to visit Ireland. And your school St. P’s day activities sound like such fun! The big pot of gold is a great idea. I don’t do a lot for St. Paddy’s day but I think I will try to whip out a soda bread. I’m going to check out your recipe! Thanks for popping by this morning and have a wonderful week!
Maryβs from (Home is Where the Boat Is) has a wonderful recipe for Soda Bread. Hope you try it.
Thank you for stopping by as well! Top oβ the Morninβ to Ya!
We always celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, it’s my granddaughter’s birthday! I am impressed with all the Irish food you cook up! I’ve never made potato pancakes, yours look really good! I have been wanting to make homemade Irish cream, your recipe is very similar to Mary’s {home is where the boat is}. I love all your festive green vignettes, everything looks so pretty! I bet you were a very popular teacher, the leprechaun shenanigans are so creative and fun!
βοΈ Happy St. Patrick’s Day Nancy!
Jenna
Thanks for all the love!
St. Patrickβs Day is always so fun! There are manyrecipes on Pinterest for Homemade Irish Cream. You should give it a try.

Good morning, Nancy! The Irish soda bread looks delicious. All of your St. Patrickβs Day touches are beautiful, and your Beleek collection is so pretty. I enjoyed reading about when you were a teacher. My mom taught first grade for almost 40 years. Happy Tuesday!
Teaching Early Childhood was the best! I loved every minute.
Thank you for joining me today and for all your sweet comments.

So fun and festive! I haven’t thought of making potato pancakes in forever…now I’m craving them! What a cute photo of you and Sweet Man! Have a terrific week!
I saw a recipe on Facebook and then I said the same thing! I have not had them in forever! So I made them.
I think Irish Pancakes use mashed potatoes. I like them this way as it reminds me of my Momβs recipe.
Thanks for the visit and Top oβ the Morninβ to Ya!
Yum…Irish soda bread…I need to get myself in gear to make some. Thanks, Nancy. As always, your photos are the best. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you, too! π₯°

Such a fun post Nancy. Hope to see you Saturday even if it’s a quick visit!
Thanks so much Ingrid. I am going to try.

Top o’ the morning to ya, Nancy! Oh boy, all your green decor and recipes are tantalizing. I’ve got my green glassware out, some shamrock tea towels and other table-scapy stuff, but not as gorgeous as yours! What a great idea using the collage at the end of your post!
There is a St Pat’s Day parade this weekend, and the weather may be just perfect to go check it out! I’m off to check out your Irish cream recipe and thanks for reminding me that we need to go out next Sunday to celebrate my Scotch-Irish heritage with a green beer and some corned beef cabbage. Or I could just come to your house, LOL!
There you go! The door is open for you!
Thank you so much for the visit and for hosting the color green!
Top oβ the Morninβ to Ya!
You definitely know how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Nancy. We will be going out to a party wearing green with corned beef and cabbage on Saturday and I’m cooking Irish bangers and colcannon on Sunday.
Sounds like you are ready!
I enjoyed Irish Bangers and Colcannon in Cork Ireland. Sweet memories!
Enjoy the weekend my friend!
Nancy, I love all your decorations! I always make Irish Soda Bread and Shepherd’s Pie.
The week leading up to St. Patrick’s Day is always filled with parades and other festivities here. The Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade is celebrating their 200th anniversary this year. Because March 17 is on Sunday the parade will be held on Saturday the 16th. Tybee Island usually has a fun parade on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day. This year it was scheduled for the 9th but was cancelled because of bad weather. There were still plenty pf parties and fun.
Luck of the Irish to you!
Thank you Beth!
Sounds like there are lots of festivities for you to participate in.
Luck of the Irish to you as well! Enjoy!!
I’m green with envy Nancy…you are all decked out and I am in the process of pulling Irish things out and setting a table for the upcoming table hop. I like having ‘my things about me’ as Maureen O’Hara said in the movie the Quiet Man. What fun you had with the littles in your classroom. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and Sweet Man. Blessings always
Thank you so much Kari!
I am looking forward to your table in the hop soon!
Luck of the Irish to You!!
If your home and spirits are anything to go by, Nancy, I’m sure your St Patrick’s Day will be a merry affair indeed. I love your chalkboard art. Actually, I take that back – I love everything you do to add any type of festive spirit to your home. And may the luck of the Irish be with you βοΈπβοΈ
Awe Clare⦠you are so sweet! Thank you my dear friend!
May the luck of the Irish come to ya!
I bet your students loved, loved you, Nancy!

You must have been the most fun teacher in the school! Your food looks delicious, as always, and your decorations are so pretty. I will be on my way for some, oh wait I canβt, itβs my granddaughters birthday on St. Patrickβs Day!
How fun for your grandaughter to have a birthday on St. Patrickβs Day. Thank you for your sweet comments.
Have a beautiful week ahead Diane!
Nancy, it must have been so much fun to be in your classroom.
It was fun! Education should be fun when we are learning.
Thanks so much for the love!
Everything looks scrumptious, Nancy!! And I adore the photo of you and Sweet Man at the end.
Awe! Thank you Dawn!
Your post certainly put me in the mood for St. Patrick’s Day. Not having a good place with Irish food in our new town, we are going to cook our own this year. Your creations look delicious–especially the Irish Soda Bread.
Always so good to have Irish Soda Bread for St. Patrickβs Day.
Enjoy the weekend no matter what you do!
You are the queen of green, my friend. I love your mugs and all your decorating, but I’m amazed at how beautifully you serve your delicious treats. Those potatoes looked amazing. Do you ever eat any of them. They are too beautiful. Where do you find the time to do all that? I feel lucky to get my house cleaned today and make lunch! LOL
I think I am just crazzzzzy!
And yes, we eat it all! lol!
Thanks for all the love Marsha!
When we were in Ireland last year, I liked Murphy’s better than Guiness.
Oh, I did, too! But Guinness is more accessible to buy here for my Corned Beef and Cabbage.
Thanks so much for the visit.
I love the choices…I’ve never made irish soda bread. My fave might be the irish coffee…it looks so good. That cream and sugar holders are pretty. I just enjoyed your whole post.
Thank you so very much! I am so glad you let me know. How nice of you. Enjoy the rest of your week!
