Tuesday Tidbits #276 Savoring Summer

Hello Friends!

How was your week? Here we are on Tuesday again.

Savoring Summer

Last week, as I was sweeping the garage, I paused to marvel at the lush greenery that had emerged in the yard and gardens. It’s good to take notice of the small pleasures that surround us. After taking a moment to appreciate the vibrant greenery, I saw the rhododendron petals resembling sprinkles of pink snow on the ground. Their beauty and dewdrops made me grateful for the opportunity to pause and admire the small wonders around me. I’m trying to do more of that. Sweet Man and I are a busy couple, so I’m consciously trying to slow down and be more present, even for a little while. Summer is worth savoring, folks!

Weather

We have had a mix of rain and sun, and the flowers and plants love it, as do I! I stroll through the yard every morning to appreciate the beauty of nature and the blessings God has given us.

I think this is an umbrella for a garden fairy.

More Flowers Appearing

Our Irises had only one bloom three years ago and didn’t bloom at all the last few years. We have several flowers this early summer, and I am thrilled!

This midnight purple is gorgeous!
🍃💜🍃

I was delighted when the poppy finally bloomed. This is my very first poppy!

🍃❤️🍃

Another first is that we had two Alliums bloom this year!

There’s two there!

The pink ladies or evening primroses have blossomed. I love them until they start to take over the garden. The pink color in the garden is refreshing right now.

Strawberries

Sweet Man brought home fresh strawberries the other day. They were incredibly sweet.

So very sweet! (Sweet Man and the Strawberries!) I added some of my Strawberry collectibles to this area in the kitchen.

We did not harvest the rhubarb so perhaps this upcoming week!

Baby Shower

On another note, we got to celebrate the Mother and Father-to-be! Seeing so many come out to show their love for them and the baby boy to come was incredible. I was overcome with emotion at the shower. My son and his wife are having a baby! This GG can’t wait! This was the first shower, and we will have another shower here at the Lake in a few weeks. 💙

We are all excited for the baby to come!💙

Thank you!

That’s all I have for you this week!

As I always try to convey… we sure do appreciate all of you. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

The mock orange is blooming.

We are wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what this upcoming week brings to you. And whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings.

  6. I couldn’t agree more, Nancy. Summer is worth savoring! I too try to live in the moment. Life sees so eager to pass us by. I chuckled at that quote because I just said to my sister last week that God gave me a rainy day so I could work inside. 🙂
Congratulations to the expecting parents. So exciting!

  7. awe Nancy…how sweet you are going to have a little one to cuddle and spoil. I love all my grands and great grands. I’m Gma to the grands and The great grands call me GG which in my case stands for great grandma!

  8. Nancy, Thank you for stopping by my MMB guest post. Your garden blooms are spectacular! Isn’t it such a gift to see the wonders as you stroll through the garden each morning? I love doing the same. Just wait until you experience the wonders of that grandson coming! Oh my, no one could have told me how much love my heart feels with mine!

  9. Happy Tuesday, Miss Nancy. I love that quote about rainy days and housework – oh my, it had me laughing out loud 🤣 Does that mean you had time to do some? (Still laughing here). I’m sure you are super excited to meet your grandson when he arrives. What a joy 🥰

  10. I need to find a market for fresh picked berries — my own tanked (I think they were overshadowed by Black-eyed Susans that grew too fast, and a few weeds!). Those look lovely and so much better than the awful things in the grocery. Your garden is rocking it! And you are right — summer is the time to slow down and truly enjoy.

  11. Your daily morning garden tours are a great way to discover the little changes that have happened overnight. Congratulations on the grandchild about to enter the world and the loving arms of parents and grandparents.

  12. Your flowers are so colorful, Nancy. Your first picture is stunning. Is that the entrance to your lake? Congratulations on your almost grandchild. You all look very happy about it. It sounds like your taken a few breaths and are enjoying your not-so-lazy summer days. 😍😍😍😍😍

    1. That first picture is actually the outlet of our lake. I am so glad you enjoyed it.

As for not-so-busy days, it still isn’t happening. But soon!
      Happy June!

  13. Such a pretty garden and I love the face amidst the ivy. That is fun! As for irises. I am learning more and more about them. My neighbor belongs to the iris society in the desert. I had no idea they would grow here and she has given me some start with instructions and “don’t worry” if they don’t bloom every year. It’s fun. oh how fun, it will be to see you as a GG. Lovely and colorful post.

    1. Thank you, Donna! I have an Iris in AZ, and it has lots of green growth but no blooms…yet!
Thanks for all the love, my friend.
