And right here in BlogLand…
In this crazy and upsetting world it’s times like these where we need to come together and support each other where we find beauty, peace and kindness. When we do so… we can confront the atrocities. We must stay true to who we are so that beauty, peace and kindness stay put in our neck of the woods. That way our minds can stay rational and balanced.
Therefore, I shall stay put here in BlogLand and share the little Tidbits of Two Trails One Road. Our special corner of the world. And I will specifically look for your special corner of the world to also bring me Beauty, Peace, Kindness and Joy! It’s how I can stay sane.
Let the Tidbits Flow
Last week I was reminding sweet man all about Paczki. Basically, I was letting him know we needed to go out and see if our local grocery store had them. He had a few errands to run and would be back home in a jiffy so that we could go out to hunt down the delicious Paczki. (If you are not familiar with them… they are a Polish treat that is specifically eaten on Fat Tuesday.) I am not Polish and neither is Sweet Man but it’s an excuse to eat a yummy treat.
Well, he went and did it… it’s why I call him Sweet Man. He came walking through the door with fresh… made that morning Paczki!

More Tidbits and Bob Dylan
We had Bob Dylan on our Bucket List of Concerts. He came to Phoenix so off we went. The picture is somewhat blurry as I had to take this quickly. Security was crazy about taking pictures. They were threatening many people of taking their cell phones away …so I snapped this one and put my phone away. He was okay… he didn’t sing any of his famous songs, not a one. He stayed behind the piano all night. He did not chat with the audience. It was short and no encore.
Spring at the LakeHouse
Our neighbor at the LakeHouse sent me the above picture. When these little delights, called snowdrops, show their little blossoms… you know spring is on its way! Planted by my Mother 50+ years ago! I remember my Mom digging a few up and wrapping them in paper and laying them in a box for me to plant at my house in Ohio. I wonder if they are still coming up in that yard?

The snowdrops are amazing, more than fifty years old. They are resilient!
They are! It’s amazing what still comes up in the LakeHouse gardens planted by my Mom! You should see the fall crocus… beautiful and they are abundant as well.

Your flowers are gorgeous, and I always love seeing your desert cacti. I’ve never heard of Paczki, sounds yummy, and that reuben sandwich looks amazing! I love your little Irish coffee station, you really are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in so many delicious ways! Sounds like the concert was a little disappointing, how old is Bob Dylan anyway, he’s probably pretty tired of performing! I hope you have a lovely Tuesday~☘️

He is 80. We googled it. I give him credit for getting on stage but darn… I just wanted to hear Blowing in the Wind or Like a Rolling Stone…
I have to say Paczki is much more famous in the Midwest. Chicago has some of the best bakeries making them. Cleveland did as well. They are similar to a filled donut but not quite… and it’s why you want them to be fresh by someone who knows how to make them.

Nancy, my sweet friend, what a beautiful post…..and I am definitely going to use the basil watering tip as my basil is looking a bit bedraggled. I am all for food for any holiday and now that my doctors tell me eat anything and everything that I want…(never thought a doctor would tell me that, haha) nothing is off limits and I LOVE a good Reuben sandwich and a soft ooey-gooey pastry. Your flowers and cacti are giving me yearnings for my days in N.M….as well as the Spanish architecture of many of the homes and the majestic mountains. thanks for that view.

“stay rational and balanced”
The more rational I stay about the present war in Ukraine and its possible outcome(s) the less balanced I get.
I hear ya Pit… but I was not talking about Ukraine. Nothing rational about that horrible war! What I was talking about was my own brain… my own sanity. Looking at beauty keeps me a bit more calm… and lets me go to a quiet place to pray for the Ukranians.
It’s really difficult to keep one’s own sanity in these troubling ties, isn’t it?

It’s a Midwest tradition… quite popular in the Chicago and Cleveland areas and perhaps Pittsburgh as well. I have a friend who lives in Chicago and she sent me a picture of hers… it was a cassata paczki. Oh! My! Word!

You made my Tuesday–maybe even my week! I love learning new things and you did that with your paczki. I doubt if it is available in OK, but I’m going to be looking for it. The other thing is your basil water. It sounds crazy, but based on your picture it seems to work well. Your pictures of the beautiful outdoor world make me smile and shake my head at the fact that cacti are pretty. It is an oxymoron to me, but they are! I am a sucker for anything tea related so I love your Irish tea setting, and I hold out hopes that we can find some good Irish food on St. Patrick’s Day. Your Reuben looked amazing! Well…Well…Well… I am starting to make you see that cacti are beautiful in a “different” way! We love how cacti are like a sculpture…especially if there are lots of arms.
