Tuesday Tidbits #261 Spring Green

Hi Friends!

Happy Tuesday! I am so glad you have joined us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

I do believe I have Spring Fever. The weather has finally warmed up. Blue skies and sunshine are making this girl happy.

Backyard rainbow!

Camp Bouse

With this great weather, we took a desert ride with friends. We visited Camp Bouse, a Top Secret WWII training camp from 1943-1944. They used tanks with arc lamps to see if they would blind the enemy during nighttime battles. The program was short-lived as the lighted tanks gave up their location. There were lots of facilities at the camp as well as a hospital. We saw remnants of buildings, rusty tin cans, and many old nails. It was pretty interesting. There were many training camps in Arizona that were under the leadership of General Patton.

Camp Bouse.

We wondered what this was at one time.
The area where the hospital was.
Nails were scattered everywhere!

Spring Green

After visiting the Camp, we enjoyed watching the desert pass us by from our Toyota Tacoma. The desert is green from all the rain we have had. Hopefully, the golden desert poppies will be emerging soon.

Desert Spring Green.
Looking forward to the wildflower season! Do you see the desert poppies?

Progressive Dinner

A fun evening was had this past week with our neighbors. We participated in a Progressive Dinner with our neighborhood friends. The night started out first at our house with appetizers and cocktails. We then walked up the street for entrees and salads, and when dinner was finished, we crossed the street to have many different desserts at our last place. Those who did not host were asked to bring a dish to their assigned house. It was a wonderful time, and we plan to do it again.

Thank You

That’s all I have for you this week.

As I always try to convey… we certainly appreciate all of you. Thanks for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

We wish all of you a wonderful week ahead. Whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings!

    1. The whole week was a 10. 🙂 Oh and one of the desserts was Chocolate Chip Cookie S’Mores Bars. They were so delicious!
Thanks, for the visit and for enjoying, Judy.

  1. Camp Bouse. Another place to add to my list of places to visit in Arizona. Your desert photos are beautiful. I need to take a to drive onto Tonto National Forest to see what things look like. All this rain raises hopes of a superbloom. 😉. Your progressive dinner sounds like lots of good food and good fun.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

    1. Thank you so much, Janet.

I was looking at my photos from last year, and I was taking pictures of Poppies at the end of February. They may be out there, or they are emerging soon!
      Enjoy your wild flower hunting!

  2. Camp Bouse looks very interesting, Nancy, you photograph the desert so beautifully, love the rainbow in your back yard. Who could not love a progressive dinner shared with your neighbors! It had to have been a fun time!

    Happy Tuesday, my friend!!

    1. Thanks for enjoying!
Yes, there are many of these camps around Arizona. This one was Top Secret, which made it even more intriguing.
      Happy Trails to you!

    1. Hi Karen, How wonderful to hear from you.
The Progressive Dinner was Fun! We all decided we need to do it again and very soon!
Thank you for stopping in. Happy Trails to you today.

    1. You are correct. The town of Bouse has some tanks displayed in their town. This camp is about 20 miles away from town.
Thanks for the compliments. And thanks for always stopping by. ☺️
      Have a great Tuesday, Tim.

  3. I always enjoy your desert day trips and seeing the cacti Nancy. The rainbow is gorgeous! Our neighborhood used to do progressive dinners and they were so much fun, we need to do that again. Have a great week, your weather looks beautiful!

    1. I am so happy you have enjoyed Progressive Dinners. They are so much fun.
Thanks for all the love, dear Jenna.
      Happy Tuesday to you!

  4. Great shot of the rainbow! Also, I wonder how many abandoned military camps there are in the US (??). We recently visited a site right in the middle of Everglades National Park. It was a relic of the Cold War used to protect the US against an air attack from Cuba since Florida is so close. Old, abandoned buildings etc. It was interesting. Fun post, per usual! Have a great day!

    1. Thank you so much, my friend. There are many, many military training camps in AZ. I believe due to AZ having 12.5 million acres of public land. It’s why we can drive all those off road trails. However, I am sure there are many other training camps in other states as well.
I bet the area you saw in Florida was something to see.
Thanks for the visit. Have a wonderful Tuesday.

  5. Like everyone else, I love the rainbow. They can be hard to capture, but you did it so well. It made me smile immediately. I’m glad your spring is blooming along with great friendships!

    1. What a beautiful compliment. Blooming friendships are just that, beautiful. I’m glad you enjoyed the rainbow! So did we.
Happy Trails to you my friend!

  6. I love that rainbow and agree with Judy – any meal that includes pulled pork and dessert is 10/10 in my book, but I did read desserts making the evening divine. I love the idea of a neighbourhood progressive dinner. Happy Tuesday to you, Miss Nancy.

    1. Thank you, sweet Clare. The rainbow was a lovely surprise. We all enjoyed ourselves at the dinner. And the desserts were fabulous!
Thanks for all the love you give me!
      🥰🥰🥰

  7. What a cool place to visit. Looks like its a good 2-3 hour drive??
How’d you find out about it?
    Xoox
    Jodie

    1. My sweet man and a few other guys we ride with knew of the place and they also know that Arizona has many Military training camps from WWII. Bouse is about two hours away. Thanks so much for the visit, Jodie. It’s always so good to hear from you.

    1. This is just the beginning of Spring in the Desert. Just wait and see what is yet to come!

  8. What fascinating history about the training camp Nancy. Your desert pictures NEVER disappoint! I would love seeing the wildflowers bloom. I have never heard of a progressive dinner, how clever!

  9. Nancy I love progressive dinners and have participated in many. At one we used an old (former) school bus to transport everyone to each home. LOL. Thank you for sharing your pics of the old fort. They are so fun to walk around and imagine what they used to look like. Have a great and wonderful week. Hugs
