Tuesday Tidbits #266 Slow Mornings

I Love Slow Mornings

The ones where I don’t need to be up at the crack of dawn and I can linger for as long as I like. How about you?

When I don’t have to rush, I am filled with significant energy.

A few years ago we had a lovely morning at our Airbnb in Fiesole, Italy.

“Taking time to do nothing often brings everything into perspective.” ~ Doe Zantamata

Now that Spring has Sprung and the sun is rising a little earlier, I feel my internal alarm clock is also waking a bit earlier. That’s okay! For me, it’s not about staying in bed. (Even though that’s wonderful!) It’s about dawdling, where I begin my day on my terms. I appreciate the earlier mornings when I can sit on the patio watching the birds, catching up on my reading or editing photos. Relaxation at its finest; that’s what retirement is all about!

Enjoying my morning tea on the back patio.
We love to watch our Goldfinches!
Gila Woodpeckers are loud and our nickname for them is Squawky. We do like to observe their acrobatic ways!

A stroll around the backyard gardens is a perfect slow-morning addition.

Bees and flowers quiet the mind.

Cool Spring

Spring seems to be on the same wavelength as me. It appears to be unhurried on waking up here in the desert. The wildflowers are blooming, but the temperatures are still not quite as warm as I would like them. Oh, and the rain continues. We have an extraordinarily green desert because of all the rainfall.

For those who live in the area. This was taken at 65 miles an hour going south on the 17 near Sunset Point Rest area. The whole area is incredibly green.

Poppy Adventure

We did not get to Bartlett Lake to view the Wild Poppies this past Sunday due to more rain; however, we saw plenty of Poppies on an adventure we had a week ago. Wild Lupines are dotting the landscape as well.

My Morning

My lovely, slow morning has come to an end. Wasn’t it marvelous? I was delighted to spend time with you today as I shared some nature therapy—a welcome restoration for our minds.

I am off to pick some basil for my lunchtime salad. Isn’t it beautiful?

Thank You

As I always try to convey… we sure do appreciate all of you. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

Have a Happy Easter Everyone!

A Desert Spring.

We are wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what this upcoming week brings to you. And whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings.

    1. Life is definitely Good!
I’m glad you are getting to enjoy retirement now, my friend!
Happy Easter to you and yours!

  1. Nancy, I totally agree with you. I like starting the morning at my retirement rhythm! Drinking my coffee and reading with no need to rush is just about perfect. The wild poppies and lupines are beautiful. I would love to visit your garden for a cup of tea. It is pouring rain this morning and will most of the day. Happy Tuesday!

    1. Thank you Pam! I know I replied to you this morning but poof it is gone!
I am so glad you enjoyed the flowers and such.
Happy Easter to you and your family.

  2. Ohhhh — slow mornings are the best. I’m trying to squeak out as much of that this morning as I can. Happy Tuesday to you, Nancy! 🥰

  3. I enjoy slow mornings also, Nancy. My 2 kitties like to snuggle on my lap while I drink my coffee. Then I go on my morning walk, which is where I enjoy the beauty of the God’s world. Back home I enjoy a garden stroll as I await the blooms of early spring here in North Idaho. Loved your pictures of the desert in bloom and so green, that’s a wonderful blessing! Have a wonderful day!

    1. Thank you for your visit today. I know you from Instagram!
Thank you for your kind words and for enjoying the pictures.
      Happy Easter!

  4. Good morning Nancy! I am very relaxed after reading your lovely post! I too love leisurely mornings when I can slowly ease into the day…The desert looks so pretty in it’s Spring green! You always demonstrate how to enjoy all of life’s little moments, thank you 🌼🌺🌸

  5. Good morning. Nancy! I always love all of the pretty blooms that you share. I am like you about enjoying slow mornings when nothing is planned. The early mornings are my favorite time of day! Wishing you a wonder week and happy Easter!

  6. Hi Miss Nancy, it has also been a very slow entry into the cooler weather here and, at last (at long last), we can feel the change in the air – woohoo. Like you, we’ve been inundated with rain – not flooding, just persistant and constant – but it just doesn’t seem to want to stop and has me feeling the same and smiling at your words “Relaxation at its finest; that’s what retirement is all about!” 🥰 🤣
Happy Easter to you and your Sweet Man 🐣🐰

  7. I enjoyed your pictures and thoughts on a slow morning. They are nice. We are not able to enjoy any mornings outside in Oklahoma yet. It takes a while in the day to reach warmer temperatures and that is when the winds get strong. We are having spring ups and downs with weather, but I find that the gray, cloudy, drizzly days make me appreciate the sunny days all the more. Your flowers are a beautiful reflection of the desert rains.

    1. Thank you, my friend. Here’s to hoping for warmer weather to come your way. And my way, too! It’s another chill day here.
Happy Easter to you and yours.

  8. Thank you for sharing your leisurely spent morning with us. I, too, like to take my time in the mornings. I do like to get up at zero dark 30 and watch the sunrise, it is so pretty so quiet so peaceful. Thank you for the beautiful photos! Bless you !

  9. Beautiful photos, Nancy. The idea of a slow morning is appealing but I generally get moving right away: walk or lift weights, Bible study and devotions, my Duolingo Norwegian lesson, then on to everything else. I like to get everything done in the morning, then relax with tea later. Sometimes I do have a slow morning, though, maybe coffee with a friend, and enjoy it. Once we finally get moved. I envision sitting on the patio to enjoy the morning…once I’ve walked. 😁

    1. Glad to hear Janet. Thank you for enjoying the photos.
I get my walks in a bit later in the morning.
You have been a busy girl with the remodeling and now the upcoming move.
      Happy Easter.

  10. Nancy, I love slow mornings, too! Isn’t it wonderful to wake up and not have to be anywhere anytime soon? I love my morning quiet time. You have a beautiful place to enjoy your mornings. The desert flowers are gorgeous! Happy Easter!

  11. Oh, I know just what you mean about slow mornings! I love them too. There’s nothing better than getting up (after a good sleep!) and being able to take your time to sink into the day (even if there is NOTHING on the calendar for that day!). I especially love the poppies in this post. The colors are wonderful. Happy week!

  12. Gorgeous flowers, Nancy, and I love Squawky. Woodpeckers are so bright and colorful. I’ve never gotten a good picture of them that close, though. The poppies are lovely. 🙂

  13. Oh yes, as busy as I am, I too love to linger on these mornings. The desert is so pretty right now. Fresh, cool and ready itself for summer. Beautiful photos out by Bartlett.
