Tuesday Tidbits #275 As May Comes to an End

Welcome Friends to a Late Edition of Tuesday Tidbits

Tuesday Greetings from the Lake House. The birds are singing as they dry out from yesterday’s downpours. The morning sunshine beautifully lights up our living room, and I thoroughly enjoy it.

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend.

We will never forget those who gave their lives for our freedom. *The Cliffs of Normandy, *Omaha Beach Memorial, *Point du Hoc Monument,*Flags at the Ashtabula Branch of Kent State, *Anthem AZ Veterans Memorial.

We did get the boat out this past Friday and enjoyed an Erie Seawolves Baseball game on Saturday. Sunday was quiet, and on Monday, the rain came.

I continually enjoy the sun glitter that shimmers on the lake.

Erie Seawolves

The Seawolves game at UPMC Park was fantastic! They are a Minor League Baseball Team as the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

Entrance into the Park.
Fabulous seats right behind Home plate!
I had to get my picture with C. Wolf the mascot of the Seawolves.

Lakeside

Sunday I found the time to enjoy a walk around lakeside.

My friend’s house is almost completed. The new addition to the right adds more room for their growing family.

How beautiful! Only the grass needs to grow. And with the rain we have had, that will be easy.
They have a beautiful view of the lake!

It warms my heart to see the beach, where I have many cherished memories from my childhood and teenage years, bustling with people again.

The docks are filling up nicely.

Lake Flowers

The poppies are blooming!
I enjoy seeing these beauties!
Yellow Iris
Yellow Peony
The yellow peony starts out with a rose like bud.
Siberian Iris
Flame Azalea

Full Moon

One morning, I woke up early to view the full moon peeking from behind a tree in our front window. The May full moon is called the Flower Moon.

Even though it hid behind the tree, the moon’s brightness woke me up.

Suitcases are Packed Away

I am finally unpacked! For some reason, it takes me forever to empty my suitcases. Truth be told, I want to get so many other things done first. Sweet Man took longer to unpack as well. He usually accomplishes that task the day after we arrive from a trip. I guess we both wanted to get the Lake House up and running!

Taking a moment to relax by the fire on the back patio, a well-deserved break from all the tasks involved in opening up the Lake House.

Groundhog

An unwelcome guest!

This guy has decided to live under our sunroom! The other day I went out on the back porch to find him scurrying off after he devoured my basil and half my petunias!

I have replanted the basil and relocated it to another location and its high off the ground. On a happier note, Sweet Man engraved the stone for me.
Hopefully, the petunias will grow back on this side. I have elevated this plant now.

We have a live trap set up, and we hope to evacuate him to a country field far, far away, where he will love to reside!

I have a name for him, but it’s not suitable to write it here. 😳

Thank You

As you can see, busy is our middle name! The week flew by! I hope we can slow down a bit and harvest our rhubarb this week. Perhaps a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie will be made. Or a new recipe that my friend Dorothy of The New Vintage Kitchen shared on her blog of delicious Rhubarb Cherry and Red Wine Sauce. Please click over and see how mouthwatering this sauce looks. What are your plans for this week?

As I always try to convey… we sure do appreciate all of you. Thank you for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

Sunset over the Lake.

We are wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy what this upcoming week brings to you. And whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings.

  1. Everything looks fabulous, Nancy, and you must be so thrilled to be back at your Lake House. I don’t have to contend with Groundhogs, but yesterday noticed caterpillars had helped themselves to one of the pathos plants 😥 it will be months before it recovers. Happy Tuesday to you and your Sweet Man (even if it’s late and creeping towards Wednesday) 🥰

  2. Ah, an unwanted guest can be rather annoying especially when they help themselves to the plants. Thanks for sharing those lovely lake views and beautiful flowers. It’s starting to heat up here narrowing our outdoor time. 🥵

  3. Better late than… Dale had a choice name that begins with F for the pesky groundhog nibbling her garden, and she posted it. Beautiful flowers. You could do a country song “My petunias are dying because I’m crying over a stupid effing groundhog!”

  4. I’m so glad you are back at the lake house. And it’s looking just wonderful up there (over there? out there?) I know what you mean about unpacking — there always seem to be things to do first. But it looks like you are already well into the swing of things (no pun intended!) Enjoy every second!

  5. You had a really great weekend, Nancy. It’s fun to be at the beginning of the summer and anticipate all of the activities you’ll enjoy. Beautiful pics of the area and the flowers 💐. Have a great week!

  6. I’m happy to know that you’re in one of your happy places, Nancy. How was the trip out? Thanks for the Memorial Day tribute. Everything looks lush and beautiful in your part of the world. I’m glad.

    1. The trip out went well. (3,000 miles.) We saw lots of pretty things along the way.
Thanks so much, Janet, for enjoying our little corner of paradise.

  7. I think you are jumping into your PA home quite speedily. I have to laugh at your groundhog–only because I sympathize. Last year for the first time in 22 years, we had squirrels decide we were growing tasty things on our summer cabin’s deck. Petunias were their favorites, but they sampled some other plants as well. It’s still too cold here for planting, but soon! As always, I love your flower pictures!

    1. Oh I feel your pain with the squirrels. We also have rabbits and chipmunks that can wreck havoc as well. Thanks so much for enjoying our little corner of paradise. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  8. I was enjoying reading about your lake home adventures, admiring your friend’s home addition, and loving the beautiful flowers until I got to the groundhog. I rehomed three over the weekend but still have one more to hopefully catch. Trapping is not my favorite hobby, but they can sure wipe out a garden and make a nuisance out of themselves. If only, they’d live in the woods, I’d be happy. Now, onto stopping the deer. 🙂

    1. Oh Judy! I was fit to be tied when I saw what that Groundhog had done! Between him, the rabbits, the deer and the chipmunks I have become a sculptor of chicken wire!
      Thanks for commiserating with me!
I hope I’ll be able to share photos of my zinnias in a few months!
And here’s to catching your last groundhog!

  9. What a sunny and uplifting post Nancy! I love seeing what’s going on in and around your beautiful lakeside home! Gorgeous flowers, especially the poppies and that iris wow! Sorry about your visitor, I do hope you can relocate him~ I think you are all set for a lovely Summer 😎 This has been a lovely way to start to my day!
    Jenna

  10. Nancy, sorry I am late (traveling) to comment. We have many unwanted guests, armadillos might be the worst! I am amazed how beautifully you and Sweet Man keep up two homes. I love all of the blooms, they are exquisite! Your weekend sounded great except for the rain. Wishing you a Happy Wednesday

    1. Thank you sweet Pam! Right now I am on the couch after working in the yard too long!
This yard here is harder to keep up then the one in AZ!
Thanks for all the love and enjoy your travels!

  11. Nancy your photos are inspiring. So glad you are at your lake home and for the most part, your lovely flowers are ok. Your visitor will be much better off in the woods. I have two little rabbits that like to chomp on my plants but the good stuff is higher up. Enjoy your beautiful lake and sunset boat rides. Happy summer.

    1. Thank you so much Kari!
Now I just found some kind of bug is eating my Zinnia sprouts! I am pulling my hair out!
Thanks always for your sweet words!

  12. Please ignore this if you receive it twice. I think my comment fell into the ether somewhere – Oh well.

Happy Tuesday/Wednesday to you, Miss Nancy, and your Sweet Man. Everything looks wonderful and I’m so please all I have to consent with here are the caterpillars. Although they have decimated several plants this year and even now, months later, those plants still haven’t recovered. I can think of a wonderful name for that Groundhog, but I can’t tell you what it is either 🤣

  13. Nancy, you’ve hand another fun week! Your Lake House is a beautiful place to spend your summer. Good luck re-homing that groundhog. We have to deal with raccoons here. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Oh, we got those too, Beth! They eat our birdseed!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoying it all. Happy Trails to you!

  14. I hope the “eviction” was successful, your flower photos are stunning (as always,) and you MUST stop in for a visit! (My unpacking is nearing completion, too.🤭)

    1. I saw the doors opened the other day as I drove by… I almost stopped. I’ll see you soon as I need a hug from you!

Thank You So Much... for sharing your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts.
