Tuesday Tidbits #316 A Spring Tea in a Desert Oasis

Hello Friends

It’s Time For Tea

I’m so excited to invite you to Tea on Tuesdays, hosted by my wonderful tea-loving friends, Mary from Home is Where the Boat Is and Pam from Every Day Living. Their tea time links will be found again at the bottom of this post. It’s such a joy to be their special guest again.

A Spring Tea in the She Shed

How about joining me for tea in my cozy little retreat in the heart of the desert—my Potting Shed/She Shed!

A while back, I used to follow a few blogs, and one of my favorites was Mary’s. I adored her Potting Shed and often daydreamed about having my own! A few years later, sweet man made it happen. He built me this darling shed. To be fair, it’s also our handy storage shed for all the outdoor furniture during the hot Summer in Arizona. But I get to enjoy this sweet retreat during the other months while we’re here in Arizona!

Desert Rose

A few years ago, Sweet Man surprised me by bringing home four beautiful dinner plates in the Franciscan Desert Rose pattern.

I absolutely fell in love! Naturally, I had to expand my collection, especially since we live in the desert and grow roses. Especially pink roses.

Adding to my collection has been such a joy! Whenever we go antiquing, I can’t help but grab a few more pieces. I’ve noticed that the Desert Rose pattern pops up much more in Southwest antique stores. Plus, I’ve had some luck finding pieces while I travel.

These roses are used as tea bag holders or butter pats.
Today I am using them to hold the heart tea infuser.

I found the creamer, sugar bowl, and butter dish in Texas! (The butter dish is not shown.) The teapot is not an exact match, but I love it! Sweet Man surprised me with the vintage Wildflower Hull Pottery Vase. He thought it would go well with the Desert Rose Collection. It most likely was made before 1940. Do you see why I call him Sweet Man?

We are sipping English Rose Tea. A pure Ceylon Black Leaf Tea with natural Rose Petals and flavored with Rose. It’s a new Tea for me. I like it sweetened.

This beautiful tin canister is actually two tins. We are having the English Rose tea on top. I found it on Amazon.

When looking for The English Rose tea I was reminded by Amazon that the Rose sugars would be a delightful addition.

Rose Sugar Tongs are a sweet complement.

Let’s savor the delicious combination of pimento cheese sandwiches, fresh strawberries and the sweet indulgence of Nutella with strawberry preserves on pound cake bars.

My Oasis

My Oasis here in the desert is decorated just for you! Lots of pink colors were added.

Pink faux flowers are added to pink Ball Mason Jars. (Aren’t those jars cute?) The two pink roses sitting on the window sill are from my sister and they glow at night.

Fresh flowers from the grocery store.

Pink Chargers were added to the plate stack. Rose teaspoons are also a must!

On the other side of my Oasis I have added some Easter decor.

Thank You

I am so happy you came to have tea with me in my Desert Oasis. It was wonderful having you! Thank you for being a friend. Happy Spring! 🌸

  1. Good morning Nancy, What a treat to join you for tea in your She Shed! Your table with all Franciscan Desert Rose is beautiful and I love your chandy over your table! So many pretty rose accents from the decorative rose sugar cubes, rose teabag/infuser holders and pretty teapot. Your English Rose Tea sounds wonderful…what a pretty tin too! I love seeing your Easter décor on your shelves and pretty pink Ball jars in the window with flowers. You truly have the best of both worlds with your winter desert living and Pennsylvania lake living in the summer. Thank you for joining us this today and your kind compliments and high praise about my blog {*blush*} Pam and are so happy to have you join us again. ☕ Wishing you a wonderful week ahead! 💗 🌹

  2. Good morning, Nancy. Your she shed is perfectly charming as it is dressed for a welcoming spring tea! I have always loved the warmth of the wood. The Franciscan Desert Rose pattern is a favorite. A dear friend has this pattern and uses it often. How sweet of your Sweet Man to buy you these lovely plates and for you to add more as you find them. Your garden roses are always stunning. I am always amazed that you garden in two different climates! The vintage Hull pottery vase is so pretty. I love the mix of patterns on your table! Your treats look delicious, I happen to love Nutella straight from the jar.

Thank you for your sweet words, Nancy. It is a pleasure to share tea with you today. Wishing you a delightful week🫖🌸🩷

  4. Oh Nancy, I just loved your teatime today! It brought memories back of my late Great Aunt Kitty because she had Desert Rose as one of her patterns. Your tiered tray looks so scrumptious and your tea choices sound divine. All your Rose accessories are so darling, too, and your window is decorated so lovely. Yes, your sweet man is certainly a keeper. Thank you for sharing your she shed with us for Tea on Tuesday! 💕

    1. Thank you Kitty. I am so happy you enjoyed yourself. And I am so glad I brought back sweet memories for you!
      Happy Spring!

  5. How fun is all this, Nancy! Love that watercolor app image. Sweet Man is certainly in tune with your rosy decor. It’s a beautiful collection. For some reason I feel better knowing the tea house/she shed is multi-use for storage. I love that paneling in it. Thanks for the lovely tea, my friend and enjoy the desert spring!

  6. Nancy, the beauty and delicacy of your she shed and tea time decorations make me pause while my heart sings. I love celebrating with tea, and your post is inspiring.

  7. I haven’t pulled out the Easter yet, just some spring. But you have so motivated me to do so! What a lovely tea, and what a delightful feeling of spring (even though it’s not quite feeling that here yet! At least the sun is out!) I love your corner place and your cute tea set, too!

  8. Nancy I may have told you this previously but seeing your beautiful Franciscan Desert Rose reminds me of a silly thing I did a long time ago and have deeply regretted. My only excuse is I was a very young bride and obviously had no sense. LOL. We had bought some expensive jewelry from Zales Jewelers and they were offering a “promotion” of a service for 8 Franciscan Desert Rose dinnerware. After we got home and I looked carefully at the dinnerware I decided I did not like them so I gave them away without ever using them. Now, every time I see this pattern I think of what might have been.🥴🥴
I love your she shed and it doesn’t matter if it has a shared duty part of the time…it is lovely. I also love the way you decorate it and it is so cozy that I would be spending all my time out there curled up with a book and of course tea. Your treats sound wonderful too. Have a great and wonderful week my friend.🩷

  9. What a beautiful space! I haven’t been much of a tea drinker, but I think I could be, haha! I’ll have to buy an assortment and try them out…oh, and a teapot…oh, and a cozy she shed, teehee! Love, love, love the watercolor image from your app! Perfection! Have a great week!

    1. I love that watercolor image too. I am going to print it out and frame it.
