Returning Home

Yes, you guessed correctly. We are back in Arizona at our winter home. It’s only been five days since we stepped in the front door.

There’s something about coming home. The air smells a certain way. That familiar curve in the road is still there before we turn onto our street. The floor makes a certain noise under the ceramic tile in the dining room. We can breathe a little easier now because the long day of flying has come to an end.

It usually takes a little time to settle in, but I believe we are getting there.

Although, we did take a break from unpacking and grocery shopping to enjoy an incredible evening the other night. It was tremendous to see so many of our friends at a special party just for us. A Welcome Home Party! A huge thanks to our fantastic friends who hosted such a fabulous celebration!

Flowers just for us! They were given to us at the Welcome Back Party. I am also sharing for Terri’s Flower Hour!

Goodbyes and Hellos

Being a snowbird makes it hard to say goodbye to good friends in one place and hello to ones waiting in another. We always feel tugged in two directions but that just means we are lucky to have wonderful friends in both areas! We are blessed!

Fall Decor

I managed to put out some Fall decor for our home here in AZ. It’s just a little bit because on Nov. 1, I will start decorating for Christmas. I know that’s early, but I plan to have total hip replacement surgery in mid-November, so I want some Christmas decor in place for us to enjoy before I have surgery.

But until then we will enjoy these simple Fall decorations.

Thank you!

It’s great to be back here in the wild, wild west. We are filled with gratefulness and so happy to live in two paradises.

We are also so glad you are here following along. Thank you always for your support.

We will talk soon!

  1. Good morning, Nancy. I am glad you have returned safely to your Arizona home. The fall touches are perfect. I wasn’t aware that you would be having hip replacement. I will certainly pray for a great recovery!

    Blessings my friend!

    1. I am at the point where I am looking forward to getting a new hip! I would do it tomorrow if I could. Rehab is much easier than a knee replacement. So I am praying that that will happen to me. Thank you for your prayers!
And always, thank you for your sweet visits!

  2. Welcome home, Nancy. What lovely friends you have! A party and flowers too! As much as we hate to leave our summer world, there is something warm and comforting about returning home. I love your fall touches and yes, smart to decorate for Christmas early! You are well prepared!

  3. Welcome back to your Arizona home! Your fall decorations look great. I love all of the flower arrangements, especially the sunflowers. Good luck with your hip replacement!

  4. Good morning, Nancy! How wonderful that your friends gave you a welcome home party! The flowers are beautiful as are all of your pretty fall touches around the house. I don’t blame you for putting up your Christmas decorations early. It will be nice to enjoy the glow of Christmas lights as you recover from hip surgery. Take care, sweet friend, and enjoy your week!

    1. I agree! As I rehab I will want to see the glow of Christmas!
Thank you so much for visiting and commenting so sweetly.
And thank you for the well wishes. ❤️

  5. You have two beautiful places to call home! And double the amount of loving people to call your friends. What a blessing. Good luck with your surgery (although it’s not for a while yet).

  6. Welcome back to your winter home, Nancy! The decor and flowers look beautiful. Stunning image of the sunset and saguaro. I’ll be praying for a successful surgery, my friend. Enjoy settling in. 🍂🌵

    1. Thank you Terri! I am sooooo ready for a new hip!
I am glad you saw the flowers. Did I link it okay? I think you have an actual Flower Hour page. I will look into linking it correctly after I slow down a bit. Thanks for all the sweet comments! Happy Trails to you my friend!

  7. Welcome back to your home in AZ, Nancy. Im sure your hip replacement will go well, just follow the advice for pre-op exercises and post-op PT. Your AZ sunset is amazing!

    1. Thank you Rita. And yes. Pre-op exercises are just as important as after.
Thanks for the well wishes and sweet comments. Happy Tuesday to you!

  8. Nancy, your sunset saguaro photograph is “picture perfect”! How blessed you are to have friends who are so excited to have you back. I like your touch of fall decor. I know that your surgery recuperation will go well with your good attitude, your sweet husband, and your kind friends. Keep your blogging friends up to date on your surgery. I will be praying for a quick recovery.

  9. Glorious sunset photo with saguaros Nancy! I bet it takes a hot minute to get acclimated from your Pennsylvania climate and home, you have the best of both worlds! I will be thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers with your hip replacement surgery in November. ♥

    1. Thank you so much for your well wishes and prayers. I have been doing all my pre-op exercises so I know it will go well. I will be back to my old self in no time.
That evening in the desert was lovely and that saguaro was asking for me to photograph it! ☺️
      Thanks for all the love!
      🥰

  10. How wonderful Nancy to have a welcome home party and I love your Fall touches. I know after the Captain and I travel for a few months in the motor home, it feels so good to be back in our other home. I love both places, even tho one is stationary and the other mobile, one gets to feel comfortable visiting new places but able to go back “home” to the comfort and cozy home on wheels. The best of both worlds as you well know. I will be praying for your upcoming surgery and you are wise to put your Christmas decor up early…and who cares what some might think, at our age we have earned the right to decorate with what pleases us and when it pleases us. Have a great October in the great Southwest. Hugs🥰🍁🎃🏈

    1. Thank you Kari! You are so right. Getting every done before surgery day is so important!
Thank you always for your sweet comments.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

  11. Welcome back to beautiful Arizona, Nancy. I’ve had a heart for Arizona since a kid looking at the gorgeous Arizona Highways magazine so long ago. We visited once many years ago through my husband’s work and stayed at a fabulous resort (don’t recall the name). But I surely remember our outing in the desert to see those magnificent saguaros!! Thank you for allowing us to visit with you in your ‘winter’ home. I will hold you in my prayers for your upcoming surgery.

    1. Oh Mitzy, I am so glad you have seen Arizona. It’s truly an incredible place. And we sure do love our saguaros!
Thank you for the prayers and well wishes. I will keep you posted.
      Happy Trails to you!

  12. How wonderful to be welcomed back to your AZ home with a party and beautiful flowers. Your decor looks so pretty. That’s a good idea to get Christmas up before your surgery so that you can enjoy. Prayers for you for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

    1. Oh, thank you so much, dear Kitty! I am sooooo ready! But first Christmas decorations. 🙂Thank you for your kind comments, my friend. ❤️

  13. Arizona looks lovely. The air’s getting really nippy here, but plan to stay in the north this winter. Maybe will head south some future year.

Thank You So Much... for sharing your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts.
