Tuesday Tidbits #257 Brrr!

It’s Cold!

We’re Not In AZ Folks!

Our Cottage Living room!

We are back at the Lakehouse in Pennsylvania! We came back to celebrate a special birthday for my son! We are so glad we did because, after a few days of being here, the Blower on our furnace broke. Today, it will get fixed! Hallelujah! We have kept warm by the fire; but a space heater adds more warmth, along with a small gas stove. I made a big pot of chicken chili to warm us from the inside out. To add to the craziness, it’s been below freezing temps, and we have had over a foot of snow! Shoveling the snow, bringing in the wood, and stoking the fire has become our new way of life for a few weeks! The house has that wonderful scent of burning wood! But listening to the wood sizzle and crackle is priceless.

Along with getting to see the art Jack Frost leaves for us every morning is invaluable as well.
The lake is frozen and the ice fishermen are enjoying it! Do you see them on the lake?
Here is a better shot!
A path to go on the ice.
My walking path at the lake was cleared!

When I was a kid, we would shovel the snow off the frozen lake and go ice skating! I had a baby blue coat, and my ice skates were also baby blue with silver fur trim. I thought I was a hot diggity dog while accomplishing figure eights on the homemade rink. I’m sorry to say at my older age, I did not go out on the ice yesterday, but if I were young again… I would have been out there in a heartbeat! It’s all part of Lake Living! Thanks for joining me on a walk down memory lane.

Have you ever broken an icicle off a house?

Fun with Friends

It’s not all about playing in the snow and keeping the house warm. We were delighted to gather with our friends here at the lake! What fun we had! We are so blessed and appreciate their warm friendships!

Love these gals!

Wintry Snow

The following snaps are of our Pennsylvania winter! As Mary from Awakening Wonders would say… “Tis the season to be freezin’!”

A walk down by the lake.
Even the birds are cold!
Who is keeping warm in here?
Snow covered trees.
More trees covered in lots of snow!
Time to get back to the house and get warm by the fire. It’s cold out here!

Thank you!

Are you cold yet? 🥶 Can you still feel your toes? How about some Hot Cocoa to warm you up? I yet have another memory for you… when I was young, after my friends and I would finish ice skating. we would then walk to my friend’s house for hot Spiced Tea! Mrs. H, my friend’s Mom, had instant homemade Spice Tea in a canister on her kitchen counter. All of us would take off our coats and one or two layers of snow clothes and would throw them in a heaping pile. The tea kettle would whistle, and off to the kitchen, we ran to make ourselves hot spiced tea! Thank you for letting me indulge you in yet another sweet childhood memory. I am happy to say I have made the instant tea and have given it away in small jars. It’s also called Friendship Tea. The secret ingredient is Tang! There are loads of recipes on Pinterest for it.

I am so pleased you got to partake in a Pennsylvania winter with us! However, it’s time to add some wood to the fire and wrap my son’s gift!

As I always try to convey… we certainly appreciate all of you. Thanks for joining us for another Tuesday Tidbits.

We wish all of you a wonderful week ahead. Whatever you have planned… make every day count and be thankful for your Blessings! Please stay warm and cozy and sip Spiced Tea!

    1. That hot spice tea was loved by so many of the neighbor kids. With Mrs. H’s memorial notice… a packet of the tea was included. It brought me to tears.
The visit here will get better as soon as I see the furnace guy walk through the doors!
Thanks for the visit, dear Judy. Enjoy your day!

  1. Nancy, the scenes are breathtaking. I am so happy you have stayed warm, it looks so cold! I love reading memories of childhood. My beloved Mother always made the spiced tea with Tang. I haven’t thought of it in years, I might just make a recipe to store in a jar for a delightful afternoon pick-me-up!

Thank you for sharing the beauty and wishing you a joy-filled day!

    1. My day will be filled with Joy when I see that furnace guy walk through the door.

I am so happy to hear you had the Spice Tea as well when growing up. Sweet memories!
Thanks for the love, my sweet friend. Happy Trails to you on this fine Tuesday!

  2. You have considerably more snow in PA than we do in Michigan. And I’ve heard AZ has been on the cold side — but not on this! Your timing was impeccable with that furnace. And how nice that you could also spend time with friends as well. The photos are really terrific, very beautiful. Love those spots of red against the white. Keep cozy!

    1. We had two Lake Effects come together for this snowstorm! It was a combination of Lake Huron and Lake Erie, and it dumped it all in our yard! 😆
I am so glad you enjoyed today’s post. Happy Tuesday to you, Jeanie.

  3. Beautiful snowy photos Nancy! It’s a good thing you went to PA, if not you could have had a house full of frozen pipes! It’s been freezing here too, we even had snow last week that shut half of Alabama down for several days! I have been hibernating at home by the fire! Enjoy your special celebration and stay cozy!

    1. Thank you, Jenna.
We are certainly happy we were here.
The snow was incredible and fun to watch. But not so much when it has to be shoveled.
I heard Alabama was getting snow, and it was cold. Stay warm, sweet friend.
Thanks for the love! Happy Trails to you on this fine Tuesday.

    1. Little Wrens make a nest in that red birdhouse every spring. Every year, we arrive just in time to see them hatch in late spring.
Thanks for enjoying it! Happy Trails to you today on this fine Tuesday!

    1. We are all great friends!
That frost has now turned to rain on our windows.
Thanks for the lovely words. Happy Trails to you on this fine Tuesday!

  4. It is beautiful this time of year by the lake! And very tranquil too. Sorry I missed your visit, as we are in AZ! Giggles. Rainy here, but hoping for an improvement soon. Stay warm my sweet friend!

  5. Oh, Nancy, your photos are gorgeous and a much-needed glimpse into Lake Living Winter Style – thank you. We are of two extremes at the moment, for all the cold, ice and snow you are experiencing, we are well and truly at the other end of the spectrum experiencing wave after wave of (well) above-average heat. Our mantra has become “Come on Winter” 😂 and we thank Willis Carrier for inventing the modern air-conditioner. Stay cozy and keep warm.

  6. Your timing was wonderful for taking care of the problem and for enjoying the beauty of the “freezin’ season.” I remember the Spiced Tea made with Tang. It was always a hit! There is such a beauty to your lake house and your desert home. I know you appreciate them both!

    1. We do. Thankful for both places!
I am glad you have had the Spice Tea. It’s a wonderful memory for me.
      Thanks for enjoying.
      Have a lovely week.

  7. Your snow vacation post brought back delightful memories of my days skating in Minnesota – “When I was a kid, we would shovel the snow off the frozen lake and go ice skating!” Thanks also for mentioning my blog site within this post. The quote is not my original I’ve seen it on graphic tees, books, prints on wood, etc.
    Keeping dancing in the snowflakes!💖❄❄❄❄❄❄💖

    1. Oh Mary… I just loved those words no matter where you saw them!
As for snowflake dancing… today it was all rain and fog. Go figure!
Happy Winter to you dear one!

  8. Brrrrrrrrr Nancy….but oh the pictures are beautiful as I sit in my courtyard sipping iced tea enjoying the 75 degree temps. So sorry, I had to rub it in but you will be all warm and cozy when you get back to Arizona. 🥰. Thanks also for the memories and we drank hot spiced tea in the Midwest. We used to say if Tang was good enough to go to the moon with the astronauts it was good for our tea. LOL When I was a kid, the cold weather did not bother me and Mom would have to call us in the house saying we would get frostbite if we stayed outside longer. LOL. Now, I think it is cold if the temp dips to under 50 degrees. It is good you came home and found the furnace issues…frozen pipes would have been much worse. Stay warm my friend and drink plenty of spiced tea.

    1. So good to hear from you, Kari. And you know, Spiced Tea!
And I understand what you mean about being cold when temperatures hover below 50. I’m the same way.
Take good care, my friend. Happy Trails to you!

  9. Well, I missed ya again while here in AZ, Nancy! But it’s a good thing you went to the Lakehouse for the birthday and were able to fix the blower! That could have been a disaster in the making! I have neighbors keeping an eye on our house. A lot of folks in Spokane have had frozen pipe issues. We’re here for a few more days until we bid adieu to Scottsdale and drive back to winter. Your images are gorgeous! Take good care and stay warm!

    1. Thank you, Terri. I was so sad to hear you would be in AZ when we were gone.
      However… there’s always next year!
      Safe travels back home. Hugs!
