JOYS of Many Kinds!

Sunsets

Sunset over the Lake! What a JOY!

Flower Therapy

Our Torch Lilies bring us Joy!

EnJOYing my Mom’s Double Lily blooming after 55+ years.

Backyard Oasis Moments

Our back patio!

Our beautiful back patio waterfall!
This waterfall holds such a Joyful memory for us. It was a lovely gift from my mother-in-law to my dad.
Can you believe this waterfall might be around 65 years old? It’s truly a treasure!
The rock was engraved by sweet man. Our patio is definitely our quiet place.

My Potting Bench! Overflowing Joy! It is special because sweet man made it for me.

Cutting bouquets from our gardens. Simple pleasures, simple JOYS!

Nostalgic Memories

Watching neighborhood fireworks from the boat brought back nostalgic JOY. When I was a teen, we would gather our friends and go out on a boat to do the same thing!

Garden Tour

A Neighborhood Garden Tour that I thoroughly enJOYed!

Wine Time With Friends While Using My Collections!

Nothing beats a fun get-together with your girlfriends to escape the heat and enJoy some AC! Just grab some wine, fresh fruit, cheese, and crackers, and you’re all set for a fabulous time!

I decided to use one of my vintage McCoy vases for my centerpiece. I enJoy collecting McCoy pottery pieces but I am partial to green shades of McCoy.

I added garden ferns, astilbe, and ground cover greens.

This is the mark that can be found under McCoy pieces. This pottery was made in Roseville, Ohio from 1910- 1990. It is highly collectible.

I added two of my vintage McCoy planters to the table.

Why not add more green to the table. Each place setting features a lovely vintage footed forest green burple bowl from Anchor Hocking. It’s a charming addition that adds a touch of warmth to the table!

Perfect to hold a bowl full of cherries!

I chose this goblet glass for our Chardonnay and a cordial glass for our late harvest Cherry wine. A late harvest wine is very close to an ice wine. Both are sweet and perfect for sipping along with a dessert. It’s why we have the small cordial glass.

Our area here in the Great Lakes Wine Region produces some great wines. This area is also known for Ice Wines and late harvest wines. Ice wines are made from the grapes that freeze on the vine. Late harvest wines are just that. The grapes are picked late in the season especially because they get sweeter the longer they are left on the vine.

Johnson Estate is a winery in New York close to the Pennsylvania border.

I’m glad to use these special goblets for the wine. A friend gave them to me because she couldn’t use them and insisted that I have them. It truly brings me so much JOY to have them on this table.

Heisey Pied Piper Etching is on the glassware. I believe this glassware is from 1922-1942.

I purchased this melted wine bottle with a painted grape vine at an Ohio Winery years ago. I will use it for crackers.

I am grateful to be able to enJoy a day with my friends!

Thank You

Thank you for joining me for another edition of Tuesday Tidbits. While I’ve shared my personal joys with you, I recognize that many people are facing overwhelming challenges and do not have much to celebrate. My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones and their homes in the devastating flooding that has struck the Kerrville area of Texas. It’s an unimaginable tragedy that weighs heavily on our hearts. Let us come together in prayer for those enduring such profound loss and hardship. We pray for comfort and support.

  1. Happy Tuesday, Nancy. The sunset over the lake is gorgeous…the Master Artist paints the most beautiful ones that we can’t even imagine! I love the torch lilies, they are so unusual. Your patio is a beautiful oasis along with your talented Sweet Man’s potting bench. You captured a beautiful image of the fireworks. Who doesn’t enjoy a great garden tour?!

Your day with friends is absolutely charming, especially using your collections. The McCoy pieces are lovely as is your flower arrangement. I know your friends enjoyed the get-together! Thank you for giving me a virtual seat at your table! I had a great time!

  2. You certainly have some beautiful pieces, Miss Nancy – and that sunset over the Lake is breathtaking. Must admit I’ve never tried Ice Wine, but I’m going to see if I can find some 🍷 Happy Tuesday to you and your Sweet Man.

    1. Hello sweet friend! Ice Wine is pricy so be aware. It’s because the frozen grapes are harder to pick. It’s definitely a sipping wine. Thank you for all the love! 💜
It is always so good to hear from you!

  3. All these things brought me so much joy too in reading about and seeing them! Love the table set for girlfriends. The melted wine bottle is unique! The Heisey stems beautiful, as are the McCoy pieces. Do you know your astilbe variety? I want to add that plant to my garden and have been looking at some varieties, one seems close to the color you have.

    1. Thank you so much, Rita. I so enjoy your sweet comments.
I believe this Astilbe is Vision in Red Astilbe. It’s a bit red early on and then blooms to a light red. They are such a hardy shade-loving plant.
      Happy Tuesday!

  4. Gorgeous photos Nancy! Watching fireworks from a boat is the best, we do that from the beach house. Your patio looks beautiful and your potting bench is always styled so attractively. I’ve not heard of McCoy pottery, your pieces are lovely. Nothing better than having a glass of wine with friends and you really amped it up with your special glasses. I adore the melted wine bottle, so perfect for Wine Time!

    1. Thank you, Jenna, for your sweet comments. I have to tell you, the melted wine bottle gets lots of comments when I use it.
Jenna, it’s always so good to hear from you! I am glad you are doing better. 😊

  5. These are such beautiful photos! I LOVE that sunset. I have never heard of torch lilies before but I love their blooms.

  6. Thank you for yet another lovely post, Nancy and for sharing your joy.
I am joining you in prayer for everyone afflicted by the flooding in Texas. My heart aches for all those who lost loved ones.

  7. Nancy, I love to see the things that have brought you joy this week. I was entranced by the oranges of the sunsets reflected in the oranges of the flowers. You have so many special places within both of your homes that bring smiles. I am praying in agreement with you for the families who have experienced so much grief and devastation–especially those who have lost family members. May this week bring unexpected joys to them in the midst of their pain as others gather around them with comfort.

  8. There is so much joy and gratitude here. Being in your happy place with beautiful things and marvelous blooms — how could it be anything but? That potting bench and those goblets — both spectacular!

  9. Nancy I thoroughly enJOYed your photos. You called your plant a torch lily but in N.M. we called them Red Hot Pokers…(Kniphofia). ….of course ours were bright red and bright yellow so it could be possible they are not the same variety. We can grow them here in Florida but they like bright sun and good drainage. I love your back porch oasis…and the story behind the water feature is so sweet as is sweet man for carving it so prettily. Thank you for sharing your life on the lake with us. Have a great and Blessed day. (I don’t know if you saw my gravatar pic but I changed my hair LOL…. see my new post explaining https://meandmycaptain.com/2025/07/going-gray-and-how-i-did-it/)

    1. Kari, when I saw your picture I said she changed her hair! You look great!

Red Hot Pokers are here too. We just have the orange ones.
I am so glad enJOYed mt post! Thank you!!
I will read your post now!

  10. Love, love, love the title of this post – “July Joys”. You do the best floral arranging and tablescaping (is that a word??). Thanks for the reminder that I can get a little height in an arrangement if I add some fern fronds! Good one! Sending big hugs to you, Nancy Lou! 💕🥰💕

  11. I’m sure you made lasting memories around this beautiful table setting that captures the essence of summer. And your vibrant blooms are a feast for my eyes! You have one very creative sweet man!

  12. What a gorgeous garden you have, love the torch lily. We definitely can’t grow that here in Wisconsin. Love your table setting! Your flower arrangement is gorgeous.

Thank You So Much... for sharing your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts.
